beagle

Question Posted Saturday September 18 2004, 7:55 pm

hey i have a 4 month old beagle and he bits on EVERYTHING..especially people! i mean i know he's a puppy and he's teething but we bought him like 1000000 toys and he only chews on them when he wants to play? we give him frozen vegetables but that doesn't work either? Is it gonna go away..cuz I dont want an agressive dog! Also are there any tips to help him not bite as much?

Okay this might sound mean, but my dog was like acting up and stuff and she wasnt behaving so my dad hit her on the nose with a rolled up newspaper. Okay it sounds really mean, but if your dog bites something u could get out the newspaper and hit him on the nose with it. It's mean, but then he will learn that biting things will just get him hurt. After awhile he might stop biting if he knows he will get hurt. *Molly*

Carry around a spray bottle full of water. When he bites you or anything he's not supposed to, spray him with it. It'll startle him a bit, and keep him from doing such things. My cats used to climb up on the table and try and eat our bacon, and that cured their curiosity fairly quickly. Also, when he decides he wants to play rough, look away and ignore him for a few moments. I have a friend who has a dog that this worked really well on.

all you can really do is just let him bite things...sometimes ifyou have a shoe, give it to him if your not going to want it anymore....that helped with my dog. and im not sure as to what might help him not bite as much

he won't be aggressive, he's just playing. puppies chew. hide ALL your remote controls for the next six months, and get a cat! cats are stupid animals, and I think it's funny when puppies chew on them.

OK for starters...

Hes only 4 months so he MUST be teething

also... whenever he bites be sure to punsish him
of course DONT EVER hit him but tell him in a serious and disapointed voice *point while speaking* BAD PUPPY! NO DOG!

and if it gets out of hand to where he can be of danger to others try taking him to disciplin dog school...works like a charm!

hope all goes well!
