HTML Color Codes

Question Posted Thursday August 12 2004, 3:13 pm

Can anyone either explain (or refer me to a website) which explains the theory and logic beinh the HTML hex code color names?

I know that is has something to do with shade, saturation, hue... something like that. I looked for something online but couldn't find anything.

I don't want a listing of all the colors and their codes.

HTML color codes are not saturation and hue... it is RGB. They are hex codes, being from 00 to FF. so 000000 is white (no color) and FFFFFF is black (all color). The number, in hexadecimal, is the level of each of the three colors.

There are a lot of web pages that not only list "safe" html color codes, but display them for you, too. Just search on "html color hex codes". I believe someone else has already listed one such site for you in their reply.
