What to do?

Question Posted Tuesday August 3 2004, 8:50 pm

Well, I have a band with three of my friends, we don't really play instruments though, we just sing. But we're auditioning for the school's talent show and I don't think that they actually WANT to be singers as much as I do...and I want to ditch the band and get with a REAL band who is actually interested in singing and not just to do something, you know? Also, I feel that I should be the lead singer since I have "the voice" and they...don't. How can I tell them this without actually telling them?

Um, tough one. Well, you can't really tell them without telling them. Well, I suppose you can have some kind of contest. Have other people that y'all know vote in an unbiased way on it. That's all I can say.

As far as getting with other like minded musicians, ask around you're school or put want ads in the local paper.

Why don't you tell them that you want the band to sing in the talent show, and if they say they don't want to, then ask if you can still sing, only with another band? They really shouldn't say no, but in case they do, then don't worry about it. Maybe, because you have "The Voice", you should try doing a solo. You were gunna be the lead singer anyways, right?

You probably shouldn't be so concieded, And its just a school talent show for school. If they were ctually your friends i dont think you would want to be lame to them by telling them they cant sing.

well first off before u jump to conclusions maybe u should talk to em bout it...tell em u feel that they arent as serious as u r bout this talent show thing..and u feel they just dont care and that makes u want to not sing wit them...but again u gotta realize its just a talent show...ugotta have fun n not be so serious just cuz u think u should be the best and not them..becuz they dont have "the voice"..just talk to em...

Well, first of all a REAL band would have instruments. You sound like you have quite the ego, what makes you have the voice and not them? You can simply drop out of the band like David Lee Roth did for Van Halen. After he did though, the vocals just weren't the same.
