I bite my nails, it's a nervous habit (a bad one too). I think it's because my parents put a lot of pressure on me and my sisters (one of them also bites her nails). I like chewing on things, and nails are just convenient. I don't like gum, though- so I don't want to chew on that. I don't want to chew on food because I don't want to stuff myself because of a nervous habit. I hate carrots. How can I stop biting my nails? Sometimes I don't even realize what I'm doing and then my nail is gone!
jokerzgrl answered Wednesday August 4 2004, 12:16 pm: I've heard if putting hot sauce on your hands, but if you are like me, and you like spicy things, then it wouldn't work, unless you got the REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hot sauce, then that might work, cuz i was going to suggest the nail polish idea, but that doesn't seem to work for you. You'll figure it out somehow.

Mercy_x_Me answered Tuesday August 3 2004, 8:21 pm: I know! I get stuck like that sometimes too. But heres my solution. Buy glue on nails from a nearby pharmacy and buy them as like a regular thing... they're cheap, and really pretty. You'll get used to not being able to bite your nails and after a while you wont need them anymore unless you just like having them... good luck with it... xoxo [ Mercy_x_Me's advice column | Ask Mercy_x_Me A Question ]
IxAmxCrying answered Tuesday August 3 2004, 8:02 pm: I pick my nose.
That way I realize that I have boogers on there, or mucus and nasty germs and then I wind up not biting my nails.
I then vomit.
Have a talk with your parents and ask them what standards your held to so you know how to react to them.
I'd say nail polish, but I have that on my thumb right now, and I'm still chewing.
duckhuntrox answered Tuesday August 3 2004, 7:58 pm: well if your parents are putting too much stress on you, you need to tell them and maybe they can lighten up. as for the nail-biting, you can try to put polish remover on it. it helps because it tastes bad and maybe will stop it [ duckhuntrox's advice column | Ask duckhuntrox A Question ]
