I really don't know much about being a girl!
I was brought up by my dad so I really don't know much about being a girl and I don't really have anyone to ask. How can you tell if you have a yeast infection, and how do you get one?

anyone can get a yeast infection it can be from wearing tight cloths or sweating alot down there or even some types of med's will give it to you. What a yeast infection is...its just a bad infection coming out the body causeing bad itching and burns may cause a ordor and discharge.

Also, girls can mistake Urinary Tract Infections (or UTI's) for yeast infections. A UTI is where your urethra (or the inner tube your urine travels just before exiting the body) will burn and hurt either while urinating, just afterwards, or even when you don't have to pee, but it makes you want to go. You get a UTI when you get a build up of Ecoli (don't worry, you won't get sick other than the UTI) in the urethra, either from the foods you eat or when fecal matter has been wiped towards the front of the body after using the toilet.
Either way, see your doctor, and they can prescribe you with some antibiotics. Make sure to take the entire prescription. Some people will take the medicine for a couple days until they feel better again and have their Yeast infection or UTI come back again.

Yeast infections just happen, like zits or ear infections.
Some things can make them more likely to happen. Taking antibiotics sometimes brings them on. Also, if you wear a bathing suit too often, especially when it's wet, that can cause them.
Yeast infections are itching, burning and redness. They can be treated by over the counter medication, but you should always go to a doctor the first time to confirm that really is a yeast infection. After that, you'll be able to recognize it much better and faster and just pick up a something at the drug store, but other things can look like a yeast infection, so it's best to have it checked, especially if you've never experienced one before.

usally you get an yeast infection from not cleaning very well.. you usally get very dry and red in that area. you should go to your genicastgist and get cream. if you are a little embarssed about it you should get vaseline and q-tips and apply twice a day, if its not a very deveped infection it should go away in a week or two.

well when you have a yeast infection its when your vagina gets really dry and like it gets red its really oncomftorble

There are a lot of ways to get a yeast infection:
If you are exercising, or doing a physical activity where you may get sweaty, and you don't change your underwear right away then bacteria will grow and you could get a yeast infection. If you are taking an antibiotic for something than your body loses its ability to fight bacteria there and you can get a yeast infection. If you are sexually active and you do not use the bathroom shortly after you have had intercourse then again bacteria can build up. Unfortunately it is incredibly easy for girls to get a yeast infection. A good way to tell is if you have a yellowish discharge that may have an odor and it is unusually itchy in that area. Most of the time you can treat a yeast infection by picking up some monistat 7 at the grocery or pharmacy and that takes care of it. If you think you have one just go ahead and treat it yourself, you don't need a prescription or anything. If the over the counter stuff does not work than it may be a urinary tract infection and only a doctor can treat that. Hope I helped, good luck!
