I've had this conversation with other females. When your on your period it's usually the time when most females are "in heat"... Meaning, it's usually the time when females are horniest. So, if your a guy, do your girl a favor, and fuck her on her period. Maybe she'll thank you. And... if your a girl... don't be a prude and think about sex on your period as being "gross".
