physical questions
alright, i'm hoping to start tennis this fall (its my first of high school). the only problem is that i know i'm going to have a physical to play on the team. well this is super babyish, but i am scared to DEATH of shots. so i was wondering what do they do during a physical? i know they weigh you and measure your height but is that all? i'm almost positive i'm going to need a tetnis shot :( , but do they have to prick my finger or anything? and one more thing, is there any way to get around getting the shot?

there is no way of getting out of the shots, sometimes its on your finger sometimes its on your arm. i just had mine awile ago, i had to get a tetnis shot its not that bad, just look away and close your eyes, ITS JUST A COUPLE OF SECONDS! hope i helped a little! *marielle*

They won't give you a shot or anything i don't think. When i had a physical, they had a doctor's check and all they did was check for your heartbeat and other simple stuff. Don't worry. U shood be good.

Hey bud. Thats sweet u wanna do tennis! great sport.. but ne wayz, shots CAN be a part of your physical. If you are overdue on your tetnis shot, you need to get one in order to be involved with tennis. Now, as far as the shot, I just got mine a few weeks ago, and let me tell you i was scared as well. The tetnis shot is in your arm and it is a tiny bit painful. BUT, just think of the shot as one small hurdle to pass before you go on to have ALOT of fun playing tennis! Good luck!

Usually you have to get a Tetnis shot before you go into kindergarten. All they do is weigh you, measure you, do reflex tests, they checked my hamstrings, feel around on your spine, and a heart beating test. Hope I helped!

Well Lana a physical realy is not that bad.Yes u do have to get a shot and i had to get 3 but just be strong.This is what they do.They check your eyesight,check to see if u have all of your well girl parts,and other stuff like that but it is not that bad and it will be over with before u know it and the shots they realy do not hurt.Well i hope that i helped u.

K...I also play sports so I know what you're going through because I'm scared to death of shots. I absolutely HATE them. Any kind of needle freaks me out. Usually when they give you sports physicals they don't give you shots unless your immunization records aren't up to date. For my sports physical they did the usual weight and height thing and they also tested my reflexes and all that jazz. They took my blood-pressure, listened to my heart, tested my hearing and sight, and they also made sure that I was physically fit for the sport so they made me do some quick little exercises and then they checked my heart rate. It wasn't that bad at all. Your doctor might also require you to pee in a cup which is never fun, but you've got to do what you've got to do, hah. And depending on your school they might want your doctor to check your blood. If they do need to check your blood it's not that bad. As I've said I HATE needles but the blood thing wasn't that bad at all. It was a TINY prick on my arm and it was over with in a matter of a few seconds. If you're still feeling uncomfortable about the sports physical and your school offers physicals there, I'd go to one there. The physicals held at school are usually less complex. Usually you just go down to the nurses office and get checked out by a doctor there, no shots or needles required. I hope I helped and good luck! I'm sure you'll be fine!!

I hate finger pricks soo much-but if you have to get one done, ask the doctor if you can get it done in your arm instead. There are more nerves on your finger so if you get it done on your arm, it doesn't hurt as much.

omg! i hate shots 2! they scare me soo much! well they weigh u measure u, ask u person guestions, u have to pee in a cup... and it depends if u havent had blood work in a while then yes u hav to get a prick, i kno it sux, and u really need the tetnis shots n all that stuff! if could save ur life! wut i do is my mom has to bride me to go lol she once paid me! good luck! <3 sarah

Nope they dont give you a shot during a physical and they dont prick your finger, the only time theyll give you a shot is if you havnt had your immunization shots that are required to attend school so unless you havnt already had those dont be expecting one

Well, during a physical I am pretty sure they check you "down there" as well. They do weigh you and all that, but I also do not think that there's a way t oget around the shot. If you need the shot, you gotta get it. I know what you're saying though, I'm terrified of shots too, but you gotta suck it in and deal with it if you wanna play tennis!!
