xmissybootsx answered Monday July 26 2004, 8:43 pm: There's so many different kinds of birth control.. there's a pill you can take (and there's soo many different pills, too) there's a shot..
When I went on the pill I asked the school nurse to help me, and she did an assessment that helped determine what would be the best one for my body..
The possible side affects are things like break through bleeding, and blood clots and a few other things.. if you want to go on it, i suggest you do some major research first.
bombberries answered Monday July 26 2004, 7:58 pm: Main Entry: birth control
Function: noun
: control of the number of children born especially by preventing or lessening the frequency of conception : CONTRACEPTION
Bascially it seriously decreases the risks of getting pregrant when you have sex without a condom. However it is still possible, but very unlikely. Side effects are typically mild. [ bombberries's advice column | Ask bombberries A Question ]

There are different kinds of birth control... theres like the patch, the pill, shot.. and I dunno i think there might be others but i'm not sure. The pill you take daily and it'll be like you can have sex without a condom... but there still are chance that you can get pregnate..
Side effects are different on different girls. Most of what i heard it that it fills you out (meaning like your curves of your body, boobs can get bigger, and if you dont watch what you eat you can gain weight like crazy)
babycakes9357 answered Monday July 26 2004, 5:30 pm: Birth Control is an oral controceptive-a pill that you take by mouth but not always in the form of a pill it can be a patch or other methods-ask me!! Anyways the most common method of birth control is a pill that you take everyday for 28 day periods. You take 21 "working pills" and the other 7 are just regulator pills which tells u if the birth control is working for you (you'll get your period) What birth control does is make more mucus like fluid in your uterus to block sperm from entering when you have sex so if theres no sperm there is no pregnancy. Some side effects are breakthrough bleeding(bleeding before your period),PMS,cramping, and more serious side effects can include stroke(higher chance for people who are over 35 and who smoke). Hope ive helped and if u need any advice ask me i use birth control myself and have been for 2 years so ask away thanks!! [ babycakes9357's advice column | Ask babycakes9357 A Question ]
Siren_Cytherea answered Monday July 26 2004, 5:14 pm: There are a few different types of birth control. The most commonly used is the pill.
The pill can have some nasty side effects, like nausea, headaches, breakthrough bleeding (like you have your period when you're not supposed to (I had this problem. I bled for three weeks, then it stopped. Lol.)), and in some really rare cases, it can cause blood clots.
It can also lighten your period, relieve some PMSish stuff, etc. It takes a month to start working. It's like 98% effective against pregnancy, which is why they tell you to use condoms, too. Those can sort of protect you from HIV, and help up the % effectiveness against pregnancy to about 99.9%.
There's another one, the shot - I'm not sure about the side effects of this one, but this one works, too, about 98% effective.
There's also a patch now...I don't know much about those side effects either, but I think this one's about 98% effective, too.
Your mom or dad might be able to help you decide.
I picked the pill because it's easier to remember to take a pill every day for me than it is to remember to change my patch every week, or get a shot every month or something, lol.
Hope I helped!

crystal200022us answered Monday July 26 2004, 4:27 pm: Birth control prevents you from getting pregnant. The side effects really vary with what kind you go with though so you'll have to talk to your gynocologist about that. A lot of birth control might make you gain weight a little bit but that's the only thing I know really about the side effects. I hope this helps and good luck.
