I had this problem, sort of.
Ligaments are parts of the body that connect your bones. When you go through a growth spurt, your ligaments have to stretch a little to allow your bones to grow. It's normal for them to still hurt. It'll stop after awhile.
Hope I helped!

And if he tells you its still a growth spurt tell him its not because the pain hasn't gone away and you can hardly do anything because of your knees. He should examine them a little better and find out what the problem really is. And when he said the ligaments are probably stressed it mean that ur bones in or by ur knees or w/e are probably like your overworking them.
sunny answered Friday July 23 2004, 12:32 pm: u might wanna think about a knee brace and going back to the doctor and ask him some thingsu can do to releve the pain theres prolly some physical therepy thing for it and the stressed ligaments just prolly means u are using your knees alot and they r getting stressed lol.HOPE I HELPED. according2lucy answered Friday July 23 2004, 11:57 am: itz probably just growing pains like the doc said. but if ur nees r botherin u that much then i wud suggest takin some kind of pain-killers. if they continue to hurt, then i wud go bsck to the doc and ask him to take some x-rays. but teens go thro all sorts of changes and long growing spurts is one of them. *tasha* answered Friday July 23 2004, 11:54 am: Hey!I'm 13 but I go through the same problem and my doctor said the same thing about the "growth spurt"...When I am playing sports or somethin I just wear a knee brace and that helps A LOT!GOOD LUCK!!!
MFS answered Friday July 23 2004, 11:53 am: First thing - have you talked to a trainer (certified) or a physical therapist? If not, I would suggest it - especially ones who specialize in sports medicine. Get some exercises that you can perform on your own to help strengthen the area around your knee. I just went through a similar thing for the muscles and ligaments around my shoulder blades. It is well worth it.
I will never tell someone to take a medication, as that would be bad... but you might consider looking into taking some ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory (not Tylenol - acetominophen {the active in tylenol} has NO anti-inflammatory activity) to help ease the pain in your knees and get them to heal faster, especially while you are at rest (sleeping, not physically active, etc).
Also - in all seriousness - think hard about the shoes you wear. Make sure they are ergonomic and confortable - some shoes, while stylish, are the most horrible things in the world to wear as they slowly screw up your feet and legs. Eventually, bad shoes can cause lower back problems that can become chronic. Hell, Martina Hingis had to quit playing professional tennis because of how screwed up her legs and lower back have become due to wearing bad shoes for years.
