jbdreamer answered Wednesday June 30 2004, 4:37 pm: More than 65% of Americans are overweight. Don't hate yourself for it. Many others have the same problem, so you are not alone. I too want to lose 20 lbs. I recently started counting my calories. It was amazing to me how much I really ate (something like 2500+ calories a day). When you write down what you eat, then you are held accountable for it. I just put myself on a 1400 calorie diet, so a can of pop (160 calories) is a waste. It's one thing to try and eat healthy, but you also need to know how much you are consuming. Did you know that most salads from McDonalds have more fat and calories than just a cheesburger?
I am going to recommend this site --Calorieking.com-- It has been a great help for me. They have the nurtional information for pretty much anything you can think of, including resturants. They can help tell you how much you should be eating and excersising to actually start losing weight. Once you start doing something that is practical and makes sense(not some crazy diet like no carbs), you start feeling good about yourself. I know I did. ~CutieBabe~ answered Wednesday June 30 2004, 4:31 pm: Katie, it's ok. i'm 13 and in the past week that i've checked my weight, i gained so many pounds. i went from 98, to 100 then to 103. when i went for my phisical for 8th grade the woman said i was 101, but it looked as if she put 108 on my paper. i'm a really small girl ( not even 5 ft) and i'm kindof chunky. my mom even noticed that my legs were getting fatter. but my advice to you is to be more active. play some sports and work out a bit (for fun) i've started doing that. do the best you can!

babysangel answered Wednesday June 30 2004, 4:09 pm: Katie, dont be so worried about oyur weight. Never let your parents bring you down like that. my sister has the same problem and sh eis very active and she is loosing weight. Try joining sports such as basketball softball something that can make you active. Join track or atleast run a couple miles everyday. All i can say is watch what you eat. Check to low carbs. and low calories. With every meal try eating a whole tamato. The best thing to do is go to a nutritionist. [ babysangel's advice column | Ask babysangel A Question ]
bAbYCHeeR792 answered Wednesday June 30 2004, 4:01 pm: Hey Katie!
The taller you are, the more you can weigh! Size doesn't really matter, many skinny people get called aneroize. Plus there are tons of plus size models, so theres people out there just like you! There is this new store that's in malls/comming to malls, for larger teens, and old navy is starting to have larger sizes in clothes. What kind of diet do you use? It could be that you don't stick to your diet!

Maisie answered Wednesday June 30 2004, 3:06 pm: Katie, I know this will sound cliche and lame, but everybody is their own person. You are an individual and, coming from somebody who was once overweight, I can tell you that as long as you don't let anybody else's opinions get to you, you will be very happy. You're only 14, and one thing that comes with puberty is metabolism. Chances are, I know, that you've already hit puberty, but that doesn't mean you've completed it. You have a very good chance of losing weight within the next few years, as I did during puberty. Just keep your cool. I know so many overweight people that are proud of themselves. Appearance is nothing, Katie, and you shouldn't worry about it. Just do whatever makes you happy.
blonde answered Wednesday June 30 2004, 2:31 pm: Well before you can "fix" your problem, you have to believe you are beautiful. Although you may not be the size 5 you want to be, that doesn't make you any less of a beautiful person. To me, a beautiful person is someone with a good personality. Someone who makes me laugh, someone I like hanging out with, someone who shares the same intestes as me, and someone who is care free and presents themself well. If you are any of these, then you are beautiful. Then from there, if you want to lose weight, add more fruits and veggies to your diet. Excercise more and don't worry about loosing weight. The more you worry about it, the longer it will take. Just eat healthier, get more exercise, and don't stress out about it. Good luck and keep your head up!
