Question Posted Thursday June 24 2004, 9:23 pm

ive been really tired lately and the only reason i can come up w/ is because i dont go to sleep until about 3 or 4 every night. but the thing is i dont go to sleep until then because im never the least bit tired until then. and then i'll wake up at like noon and be exhausted until about 6 that evening and ill start waking up and then i cant go to sleep until like 4 and the whole cycle starts over. but i really need to be able to fall asleep earlier and wake up earlier. does anyone kno how i can do this?

Try meditation, reading, listening to music, or anything that relaxes you to force yourself to fall asleep earlier.
If you wanna start with waking up earlier, set your alarm for a half hour earlier each day. Start with noon, then 11:30, etc...
that's easier. The other option is to keep staying up later and later and kind of force your cycle into a weird thing...
like stay up 'til 3, then 3:30, then 4, then 4:30...then keep going until it's the right time you want to go to sleep. That's a really nasty way of having to do it, so I reccomend the alarm. Lol. Good luck =)

If you absolutely force yourself to wake up earlier, then you will eventually get back into a normal cycle. Trust me, I've been going through this my whole life. At some points, depending on when I have to wake up for classes, or work, I will start to sleep later each day, in turn, I will stay up later each night. Right now, I'm at about the same schedule your at, staying up till 3, 4, sometimes 5 a.m. (it really sucks going to sleep each night when the sun comes up doesn't it?)

Trust me, after like two or three days of forcing yourself to wake up at 8 or 9, you'll definately be getting to sleep earlier.

<span style="background: url([Link](Mouse over link to see full location); I know what you're saying! I'm an insomniac so I can totally relate!! What you need to do is change your whole sleeping cycle. You seem to have the main concept of what your cycle is already so just put more effort into a new one. Pretty much change your hours around. Even if it kills you for one week try to go to sleep before 3 or 4...you need to be in a insouciant mood...just calm and not tense. I would make some green tea and listen to some soft and gentle music, and read like a chapter because it gets you focused on one main thing. It's a challenge, but if you keep doing this you'll be on a regular cycle. But yeah if you don't change your cycle soon than you'll end up being a insomnia like me who never gets to sleep at all. Haha. By now I'm so used to it...but it's really not good for you. Oh, and don't get addicted to caffeine because it will keep you up. Try substituting water instead! Take care and good luck!! Love you -Mandee </span>
