Here-To-Help answered Friday June 25 2004, 12:40 am: Okay...usually when you START to have your period you will find some creamy type of white stuff in your underwear which is called discharge...
(Gosh I feel like one of thpose nurses on school specials)
Anyways...when that happens IT SHOULDN'T HURT...just think of it as a warning...it tells you that your period is coming soon...Soon after...maybe weeks or a few months after you may wake up one morning to find you had your period in your sleep. It doesn't hurt when it comes out. It just feels like you had an accident or something...
From then on, your period will come once every month usually and it will only last for about a week tops each month.
It doesn't hurt except you may get cramps or feel stomach sick sometimes. It's different for a lot of people...
Don't worry about it really...it's no sweat...you should've seen me...when I started getting closer to my very first period I was so paranoid and I didn't know anything about it and I was SOOOOO SCARED...but...once it came I realized it's really not a big deal. It's part of life and it's really not bad...
Just to let you know...it makes your hormones RAGE...you could have mood swings one day (PMS) and another day you could be so happy you would think you could fly. It's an odd feeling...
Don't worry about it...just be prepared and bring pads/tampons...you will be fine...
xKxRxYxSxTxAx9 answered Tuesday June 22 2004, 9:38 am: Aww I know exactly how you feel. First of all, you really shouldn't worry about it. It's not that bad! I know it seems scary at the time, but it's really not that bad. But all you will need is pads and maybe some tampons. It kind of depends on the person to wear tampons or not. Like me, I hate tampons, the onlt time I would even use them is if I was going swimming because you cant use pads in the water. Just talk to your mom about it, or someone really close to you. They will help you sort everything out. And rememeber, don't worry about it! EVERYONE goies through it...well girls anyway. haha. Really tho, it's not that big of a deal. Don't worry. Talk to your mom. Good luck! [ xKxRxYxSxTxAx9's advice column | Ask xKxRxYxSxTxAx9 A Question ]
Naty143 answered Saturday June 19 2004, 3:58 pm: well the first thing you have to do is not to worry so much about it. when u get ur period the first thing u have to do is to be more safe with any sexual activities as u get older because as u knoe when u get ur period, is when u mature and when u become a young lady, and u can get pregnant by having a sexual contact with a boy. there are many disadvatages to gettin ur period, like having cramps, and gettin pregnant. but there actually not any advantages to it accept for knowin that u have become a young lady. well that is basically all you need to know for when you get your period. psych_student answered Friday June 18 2004, 11:49 am: Ok, chill out, breathe, and relax...Periods are not a major life crisis they're something every woman has from puberty up until the menopause and those both occur at different times for everyone. I'm British so I'm not sure how old 7th graders are...13 so it's possible you won't get your period until later.
If you're really worried speak to your mum about it (she has them too!). Don't believe everything your friends tell you because for some unknown reason - people lie!
Don't be scared of the nightmare scenerio where you're in class and you stand up and there's blood all over you're chair because when you get your first period there will only be a small amount and your school toilets should have dispensers where you can get the necessary :) No stress welcome to womanhood. Juelz2005 answered Thursday June 17 2004, 7:24 pm: its really nothing ot be afraid of, i was afraid for mine to come too. it reall ydoesnt hurt (juss cramps) and it can be a royal pain in the butt, especially in the summer time! but when u do get ur period, juss go get a pad and put it on and go. there is really nothing to it except remembering to change it every 2-3 hours so you dont get an infection or a stentch! thats it really.
But if your afraid it wil lcome and you will be unprepared, carry one or two pads in your purse. works for me all the time! lol
good luck...hope i helped [ Juelz2005's advice column | Ask Juelz2005 A Question ]

IneedSomeHelp answered Thursday June 17 2004, 4:46 pm: It's ok to get your period. That happened to me when I was in 6th grade. All you have to do is go to the nurses office, or tell a ((female)) teacher. Or if you're embarrassed to do that, go ahead and bring some protection with you, like in a purse or something. It is part of growing up, and everyone goes through it. It'll be ok, trust me. [ IneedSomeHelp's advice column | Ask IneedSomeHelp A Question ]

clichedlust answered Thursday June 17 2004, 3:53 pm: have a little purse in your backpack with regular sized tampons you should egt pearl because it has a smooth applicator, long/medium sized pads(because if you sit down for a long time and get up quickly it can spread all over) and midol incase you get cramps, bring about 5 pills and take one everytime you finsh lunch or in the morning. Ruperts_gurl answered Thursday June 17 2004, 3:45 pm: Every thing will be ok heres how it is .... you will prolly be really cranky right before or during your period .... keep tampons or pads with you at all times even if it is only one you dont need alot just enough to be prepared but i suggest tampons becuase once you get used to them you cant feel them but with pads it feels like you are wearing a diper and tell your guardian/parent that you have it so that they know to be sensitive about what they say to you its not as bad as every one makes it seem its just cramps (if you get them) an emotional roller coaster and blood (sry for the pictures in your head) and even that sounds bad but the only thing that is bad is the cramps but you can either take midol, ibprofen or advil for that or even saint johns wart (which is an herbal remedy) personally i think midol and st johns wart works best but thats for me ..... hope it helps (i have mine right now ... :( lol)

track_XC answered Thursday June 17 2004, 3:38 pm: hey homegurl. its shelly. ok first things first. a girl gets her period once a month and usually lasts about 5 days. if you dont know when you are going to start then i suggest you keep a little make-up bag (the ones u get from cliniqe perfume work great) and store pads and an extra pair of underwear in them and keep them in your locker, purse, or backpack. eyeglasses cases work good too. once you start, to know about what time next month your aunt flo (your period) will arive, you count from the second day you start as one and count the days to # 28. that should be about when you should expect it. it might be a little early or late because your young, but things will get easier as u get older. always, always, ALWAYS overstock yourself and be prepared. having an unexpected leak and not having enough 'stuff' is always enbarassing. if u get in this situation, ask your girlfriends for some and if they dont have any, go to the nurse. usually they have some; if not, then you can call mom. i wouldnt recomend using tampons until you are a little older and experienced b/c those can be tricky. the pads that i use and would recomend are ALWAYS brand. i tried the cheapies once and those were not good. they were all crinkly and loud. ne ways, good luck and dont be afraid to ask mom, or older sis, or anyone questions.
