Don't loose any more than 3 pounds a week, because you may loose muscle, fluids, and other stuff you need for good health instead of fat. I heard somewhere that weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. If you are vegan, be sure you get enough protein, with beans and soy products.

Also, exercise may turn fat into muscle, which weighs more. So it's possible to gain weight, but be a smaller size. This is a good thing. It means you are healthier.

I think each size is approximately 10 pounds. So from a size 16 to size 8 would be about 40 pounds. 6 months is a safe time frame for that.

On a healthy weight loss program you lose 1-2 pounds per week. There are magical shakes and stuff that claim to help you lose like ten pounds in a day, but those just make you lose water, not fat, so it comes right back and you get sick.

Your goal should be health, not size. A size 6 just isn't realistic for some people, your body may not be built like that. The average woman is a size 14... if you're a ten, that's pretty skinny.

Well, I've never been in your situation exactly, but I've been overweight. I'm not anymore, but that's a long story and I'm sure you don't need or want to hear it. The amount of weight you should lose depends entirely on how tall you are. I have a friend who's 5'8" and weighs like, 180. But because she's so tall, it's a good weight for her. I'm 5'3 and a half", and I weigh 115. Ten pounds in a week is a little worrisome...I don't think it's out of your reach. Set your mind to it, and you should be okay. Just don't try to lose too much too fast. Good luck!

Typically doctors tell you that losing more than 3 pounds a week is dangerous. I'm not going to say that pushing yourself is a bad thing, but don't overdo it.

Best of luck to you.

If i were you I would just loose as much as you can. This means sticking to whatever diet you put yourself on, lowering your intake of fatty foods and carbohidrate loaded foods, but make sure you still eat enought to keep you going.
This site has lots of useful stuff in regard to veganism: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

As for the reaching size 8 in 6 months, Its not impossible, but it might be a better idea to take things a little slower. Work out how much you lose in maybe 3 months then see if you think you can reach your target.

good luck :)
