Even if you weren't a virgin, I would lay bets odds-on that you're not pregnant. Several things you said point me to this:
1.You're nervous. Did you know you really CAN worry yourself sick? I've done it. Stress is the number one cause of many many difficulties. Stress puts an incredible strain on the digestive, mental, sleep, circulatory, hormonal and nervous systems. Your period is a very very delicate operation and EVERYTHING you do affects it. Stress makes your period all out of whack. My senior year, I was so stressed at finals, mine was 6 DAYS late.
2. You've been sick. As I said your period reacts to every change in your body from sleeping, eating, stress and exercise habits. There's just about no such thing as a regular period.
3. You're new to this. It takes about 3 years for your period to become "regular", and even then it's hard for many people to predict when it's coming or not.

I wouldn't worry about it. Honestly, it'll show up, and if it doesn't, at least you're not pregnant. My friends have even had skipped periods before due to freaking about various things. Get some sleep and eat red meat or spinach for the iron content, take some long baths and try to relax.

Illness, stress, fatigue, or an increase in your exercise routine. ALl of these AND MORE can quite often be the culprit behind a period that chooses to be fashionably late. So, fret not. Rest and drink plenty of fluids and you'll be complaining again in no time.
Oh....KUDOS on still being a virgin. Much respect to you!!!

Being sick can, indeed, affect when your period starts. Stress can affect it too. And as a couple of people have pointed out, it isn't uncommon for things to be a little weird for a few months after you get your first period.

I'm sure you're fine. But I hope you feel better soon.

For the first few months your period is all over the place, when i first started one time it was two weeks apart another two weeks late, it takes about a year for your body to get it all strait and your schedule to become normal. Being sick also can effect it causing you to be late, just like a lot of stress, worrying, a lot of physical activity. Don't worry it's perfectly normal :)

Turc answered Wednesday December 3 2003, 9:14 pm:
My period has been regular as day and night since I started having it, and it was a week late the last time I was scheduled to have it. Of course I was freaking out because I'm a virgin too, but it was late because I had changed my diet and was extremely stressed. If you have been sick enough that you haven't been eating normally, that could have thrown your body off a bit. It'll change for things like not enough sleep and stress, too, even though it seems like sometimes it comes late just to spite you. :-P If you just started getting your periods you might just skip it altogether, but if you've had it for a while and it still doesn't come, talk to a school nurse or doctor about it.

Joshua answered Wednesday December 3 2003, 8:48 pm:
Since you say you are fairly new to this, then you are probably getting worked up about nothing. You being sick could certainly affect it being late. Also, it takes a little while to get into a full and predictable schedule, so being a few days off here and there is not unusual.

If you are concerned, or if it doesn't come in a couple of days, let your mother know your concerns.

I think its pretty normal to get it late. The cold has been going around so no need to worry. Though if you skipped a month our something that is the time to see a doctor.
