New Guy Lately I've been chatting a lot with this guy. He's a friend of a friend. Anyway, it's been about 3 months now and we have loads in common. We decided to go see a movie together(not a date) next weekend. Trouble is, he's very smart, and when I'm chatting with him I always feel like I'm too stupid for him. When we meet, I'm afraid it might show even more, that he might start talking about things that i don't have much say in and he'll find me unworthy of his time and won't want to be friends anymore. How should I act, or should I plain out cancel the meeting and just stay friends on msn?

Being a guy, I feel safe in saying that you have nothing to fear. If you've been chatting with him for "awhile", then he is already familiar with what you do and do not possess. Seeing that he chose to meet with you, anyway, I think it makes more of a big deal to you than it does him. You know...you wouldn't care so much about what other people think oof you if you knew how little they actually do. :) Go for it, and enjoy yourself being yourself. ]
Dear New Guy,
If i were u i really wouldnt worry about meeting him. I am sure that you aren't too dumb for him and maybe he is feeling the same way about meeting you.
Have fun,

It sounds like you're making a very big deal out of something that's not. I think that since he has been talking to your for 3 months on msn already, that he must like you otherwise he would have ended the conversation a long time ago. Just be yourself when you meet him at the movies, and even if you're still nervous just sit back and enjoy the movie anyways. ]
Definitly just be yourself. He's probably just trying to impress you.

Don't cancel. Don't think you're too stupid for him. He probably has the same thing going on thinking, "Oh she's too cool for me, I don't know." If you blow this one off, you'll never know what it'd be like. I say go out with him once, see how it goes. You'llknowif you'd want to see him more. And if you decide to forget it, then you'll be wondering what it would be like if you did. Take a chance. Don't ever think you're to low for a guy. Chances are, you're probably better. Good Luck!

Ok. All of the below. And...read something. The news, Newsweek, msn.news anything. It will give you something interesting to discuss and debate. There is always something nutty or exciting going on in the world, and reading extends your vocabulary. ]
dont be so self conscious. chances are, he may think you're too cool for him! dont worry, you'll have a great time ]
Aww don't cancel... I met the man of my dreams off of AOL... If something like that ever was to happen, first off be honest, let him know you don't understand, that does not mean your by any means stupid or unworthy, to him that just might mean you just might not be as well rehearsed as him in that area... also that way he'll know what to talk about with you, if he really likes, and knows a lot about, say something like cars, but you don't know anything about it, and are less then interested, really, let him know you don't understand. There is a lot out there to talk about, and I'm sure if he is aware you don't know a lot about something, he wont get really into talking over your head... for example I really like horses, but when I'm around people that don't know much about them I avoid talking about them so they don't feel left out... and if you were to ever feel like you were for some reason less intelligent, think about something you know a lot about, and he may not... that’s an example of something your more learned in... You are never below someone, and its a fact that most people spend more time in a relationship (this includes friends and family) thinking up ways that they are inferior... relax, you can't just not live because your scared of what others might think! Be brave and know you ARE worthy of his time... ]
