How can I comfort a friend when she's sad ?

Last night I played a sad country song for my best friend. It was about a little girl who's father was drunk and killed her mom or something like that I forget what it's called but my friend likes sad songs and when I played it she started crying her eyes out. She hardly ever cries at sad songs. I didn't know what to do so I just walked away and left her crying. What should I have done to comfort her ?

Suicide, depression, what is going on with me?

I dont know if anyone can answer this. I just dont understand why even though when I hang out with my friends I have a good time and laugh, but when I get home I still go into a depression. I start playing really sad songs and I try to cut myself and I just start bawling and freaking out.
My best friend, who I love more than anything in a friendship kind of way, just moved away about 3 weeks ago. Then the boy I was seeing decided to abruptly end our relationship for no good reason. Ever since then I've been feeling so lonely, like there's no one around I can talk to or relate to and I feel abandoned. Then I always feel guilty cause of done many things Im not proud of (drinking mostly) but its constant and...

Kindof more like "best i ever had" by vertical horizon and "dare you to move" by switchfoot. Ones that make you think, but also jerk the tears. Eh?

Depressed.

Lately I've been very depressed. I've been really happy, then really sad in a very short period of time. It's mostly over this guy that I really really liked and he liked me but I missed my chance. I feel like I'm living in the past. The guy has a girlfriend but I still feel like he likes me. Nothing will ever be the same even if they do break up. Ever night I feel like i'm crying myself to sleep and listening all sad songs that even get me in a worser mood. I don't feel like doing anything fun anymore and usually whatever his mood is, i get in it. I don't know what to do anymore, I feel like i'm just gettting sadder and sadder. Please help!

I like songs that describe my mood(s) or situation... Well right now I just feel betrayed and hurt by my friend. She WAS my best friend but now we're not really good friends anymore and it's because of something I guess. I don't understand it. She's moved on, and has changed a lot. It annoys me and also makes me sad. Everything is confusing and has changed a lot. I also feel left out and feel like "my friend" doesn't really even care about me anymore. It's like we were never "bffl"..... It seems like everything's a lie... I dunno how to describe it, but weird things have happened and I don't understand, cause never in my life would I think it would actually happened. I'm just surprised by it. I'm also sick of fake ppl. O...

I like oldies, pop, rock, classic rock, some country. I dont really like punk and metal, but i <3 fob and my chemical romance, and all time low, boys like girls, led zeppelin, carrie underwood, nickleback, and so many others. Thanks!

okay so im looking for some sad songs. songs that really give you that feeling inside. that heart dropping feeling of sadness. know what i mean? but yea im looking for some really sad songs. preferably rock, alternative, pop, country, acoustic kinda music.

I have seen a number of these post but I tried out many of the songs and they are just not my type .
So , Doesn anyone have any sad songs that are slow . I would perfer it NOT to be country , Unless she has a voice like Taylor Swift .
Also , I know all Taylor Swifts songs so don't recomnned them :P

ok i really really need some songs like this!!!
i need some songs that can make you cry. really sad songs, but no country please.
also i need some songs that you can really think about and have nice lyrics. kinda like iris by the goo goo dolls. maybe a little bit sad some of them. but ones really like iris that are so nice they make you want to cry.
