LagunaBabe answered Saturday June 6 2009, 10:49 pm: I'm not sure that you have depression, as I am not a doctor. However, I can tell you that are depressed (difference from being depressed and having depression). My dear friend, you are just thirteen-years-old, you have the world ahead of you. Please do not feel as though you want to die, believe me, it is not the best option, or even a good one, at that.
I can't say I know what you're going through, however, I know that I have been through a lot and though I have been very depressed -- I do know that it's possible to come out of that and to live a happy, healthy life -- as I do right now.
I know sometimes we all feel unwanted, but believe me, I know that many people want you and for the ones who truly don't -- it is their loss completely and they aren't worth your time. So please, do not feel so sad, be happy and be with people you love and care about and who support you, and turn on the best, brightest, funest music you can find, girl. :)
And also, if you'd like to talk more, feel free to email me (it's on my advice column page).
hitler_the_goat answered Saturday June 6 2009, 1:32 pm: hahahaha,
what the hell do you have to feel sad about? try having the humvee twenty feet in front of you explode, and watch your friend stumble out of it covered in fire, listening to the muffled screams coming from inside the wrecked truck as your comrades burn to death. depressing enough for you?
these people are artists, songs are designed to convey an emotion. you're human. congratulations.

asknava answered Saturday June 6 2009, 1:28 am: Yeah I was pretty much going to say what Hector said. I went through depression and I was Depressed. I mean like months of depression. I would put on a phasade at school and around people but by myself I was a basket case, I wanted to kill myself and I started doing bad stuff to myself. I would make art that was really bloddy and put my own blood on stuff and all kind of stuff and it didn't matter what kind of music I was listening to. If you listen to sad stuff you are going to feel sad, especially if you are sad already. Sometimes though it is just sadness...Take a look at your life, try to figure out if anything is going a way that you don't want it to go...with depression, a lot of times nothing has to be going wrong you are just miserable and empty, numb and very anti-existance and anti-self. I would talk to a doctor and not just one and don't go when you are in a good mood, go when you are kind of in the middle. Cause I went in a good mood and he thought I was fine. I wasn't. I had to end up helpig my self and reading self help books...I found out depression and suicide attempts (serious ones that almost succeeded) ran in the family. Almost everyone I can think of in my family has either thought about it, written about it, self mutilated or actually went for it and just got caught before they died even to the point of having to be recisitated (that might be spelled wrong) :) Thing is that you could just be sad cause stuff isn't going the way you'd like...or maybe something happened that really got to you, it could be the influence of all the downer songs...or you could really be depressed and suicidal. I would take a test on line or go to a doctor that you trust that you can be open with...I do not recommend medication. I recommend meditation and vitamins that are specifically for calming the nervous system. I recommend therapy but I again do not recommend meds. If you feel that's what's for you then fine, but a lot of times they make people worse. :)Hope you figure it out and keep the faith, you will get through it. HectorJr answered Saturday June 6 2009, 12:59 am: Hey there! Not so sure if you have depression. Unfortunately - although I wish help like this was professionally available as easily online - diagnosing depression is going to prove difficult over the internet, whether on a forum, checklist, or even medical sites.
Listening to sad songs and feeling sad isn't necessarily a sign of depression. But you say you want to die? Hmmm...I mean I can suggest try pandora.com and listen to music that isn't so sad or so emo. Try classic rock! I'm not so sure why you feel like you want to die either, but if these thoughts spring into your mind at random times or quite often, then please talk to someone about it - be it close family members, teachers, and especially a doctor. I'd suggest friends, but sometimes that can actually do more harm than help - but you are more than welcome to seek your friends for some help, even if it means going out to have fun. Feel better and I hope this helps. [ HectorJr's advice column | Ask HectorJr A Question ]
