I agree with the people who have said that if you can't discuss it with him calmly, then your not ready to have sex. However, if your going to go through with it anyway, have more than one condom available. That first one could tear, or get dropped and lost in the nervous shuffle, or any number of things.

Make sure your educated about condom use - what it can and can't help with, how to use it properly, how to store it properly, etc.

Under NO circumstances should you have sex without a condom. I would tell you to wait period, but, it seems that you've already made your mind up. With that being said...don't EVER have sex without a condom. I know it's hard to believe, but it could cost you the rest of your life.

I think that until you learn to spell the word "condom" and also some grammar to boot, that you should probably continue to abstain from sex.

I don't understand the thing with prom night as a great night to do it... ok yeah they've made it into this big romantic ordeal, but really it's not... you'll have far more fun if your not worrying about sex rather just dancing with your friends and boyfriend... really think over that decision, condoms can break you can get pregnant... I really suggest waiting but if you want to, why not buy some yourself that way you and be sure, if he forgets one and you don't have one... that's a big no go... also if you can consider birth control, its important to not only protect yourself from STD's but pregnancy... the more precautions the better however the only sure way is to wait... I suggest really thinking this over and making sure you both are ready... p.s. if you can't talk to him about it openly your not ready)...

hailebop answered Friday January 9 2004, 2:19 pm:
It would be sensible to discuss contraception with your boyfriend before you have sex. Once you've talked about it, your boyfriend will know that you expect him to bring condoms.

However, you need to remember that contraception is the responsibility of both partners. It's good that you are planning ahead, but realistically you need to make efforts yourself, such as bringing it up in conversation or buying condoms yourself rather then just expecting him to think of it. Really decesions about contraception should be made responsibly by the pair of you. If the thought of having such a conversation with your boyfriend scares you, then I think you need to reconsider whether you are really ready to have a sexual relationship just yet.

chaos answered Friday January 9 2004, 9:20 am:
Please be careful. Go ahead a buy some condoms. If they don't get too hot or too cold, they last a long time. I would caution you that "prom sex" is highly overrated. I was so nervous that I could not really enjoy myself. Plus, you could end up with more than a corsage to remember it by. Please talk to someone you trust about sex and birth control.

why dont you take some of your own? These days its all about girl power, and its only good sense to make sure you protectyourself.

i) It's January. That seems like planning a bit far ahead to me...

ii) You could always bring a condom yourself, just in case. Does your boyfriend know of your plan? If he does he'd be pretty irresponsible not to bring one... but better safe than sorry.
