i want a belly button ring so bad. not this year though. next year, in 9th grade. the thing is though, my mom won't let me. she said i have to wait til i move out when i'm 18. SIX YEARS?! um no i'm not waiting that long lol. i know a ton of people who have them and they haven't had a problem. i know they can get infected, but that's only if you don't take care of it and stuff. how can i convince her to let me? it's not fair 6 years is too long lol.

My mom's the same way, she won't let me get tattoos, piercings, and whatnot, until I'm eighteen. Which I think is pretty lame, since it's my own body, y'know?
Maybe you could prove to your mom that you'd be responsible enough to get your bellybutton pierced.
I never even talked to my mom about it, and I pierced mine myself, which SUCKED, because it hurt like hell for a week after I pierced it with a safety pin, and when I tried to put an actual ring through, I couldn't find the hole, and it was all over depressing. So I wouldn't advise that.

But she is your mom, and she has control over you until you're eighteen.

I like the pirate the best.
Granted I'm partial to pirates, because they're amazing, but still. :]

I'm 13/f and I'm in 8th grade. I've been in band since 6th grade and I enjoy it (but sometimes i really don't like it). I want to be in band in high school yet I don't because it can be really stressful sometimes with all the competitions and stuff. I also don't want to do marching band but they make you and being in high school band is very time consuming...but I still like playing. Also, my best friends who were in band this year are quitting, so I won't know anyone. My question is...should I continue playing since I enjoy it or quit?

I was in band all through middle school, but I quit once I started highschool.
I didn't like how it was so time consuming, and how I never had time for any other friends.
But I'm just going to tell you, my best friend from middle school continued with band in highschool, and we don't even talk anymore. We just drifted apart, since she's still so involved in band, and we never had time to hang out. We don't even talk anymore. But she loves it, and still has the passion for it.
I still pull out my flute (what I played in band) and play some of the sheetmusic that I had from 8th grade, and play it. And sometimes I really miss it. But I'm glad that I quit band, BECAUSE it's so time consuming. A few of my friends that are in band never have time for anything, and they're incredibly stressed out.
This isn't advice, persay, but just what's happened in my situation.

Moshing. Is amazing.
It's the pit in the center of a crowd at a show. It seems brutal, with the pushing, shoving, punching, and whatnot, but it's just how people feel the music. It's generally guys in the pit, and some of them are huge. Stay away from them, since you're obviously a beginner.
It depends on what band you're going to see, if it's more metal, there's going to be a more brutal pit. If it's softer, there probably won't be a huge pit, but there will be hardcoredancers (who, in my opinion, are a disgrace to the whole "rock scene").

I have a new program called Iweb and its realy really cool and i have a website now, but i dont no what the theme should be and what it should talk about i dont want to talk about myself and i dont want to talk about the sports i play. I am really into stage acting and theatre but i don't know what i should write about.

You could make it an acting-centric website, for instance. You could make each sub-page a character or role that you were in, a summary of the play, any reviews it might've gotten, and for designing, you could have the theatre masks on the homepage, and maybe a little about yourself. Not your whole life story, but name, age, and whatnot.

Okay i'm in highschool and my mom is finally letting me wear gothic/punk rock clothing. I've got my wardrobe but my room is the opposite. How can i make it more gothic or punk rock WITHOUT painting my walls or buying anything too expensive.

I have sort of very light baby colored pink wall. I have rough creme curtains. My furniture is medium brown wood. Tomorrow I'm going to remove all my colorful objects but what else can I do? The only dark comforter I have is a plain dark green comforter. Do you think that will do?

Well, it depends on that your music preferences are.
I like a lot of hard rock and metal, so I have a bunch of Avenged Sevenfold, As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God, Motley Crue, Pantera, Shadows Fall, and Unearth.
A lot of popular bands for our age group (I'm 15, too) are Avenged Sevenfold, 30 Seconds To Mars, Atreyu, From First To Last, AFI, and so on. Listen to the radio.
If you like any hip hop/rap... I can't help you there, sorry. :(

Get him something that would mean a lot to him. I'm still confused for what to get guys, in all reality. :]
But I've liked this guy for... ever, basically. He's really into skating and our favourite band is Avenged Sevenfold, so for Christmas this year, I'm getting him an Avenged Sevenfold skate deck. Something like that.
If he plays guitar, maybe you could get him a book of tabs and chords for one of his favourite bands. I've also done that for a guy that I liked. :]
Make a card for him, and include all the good times you've had.

You can't "be better", all you can be is yourself. If you try to be what someone wants you to be, it'll only end up backfiring in your face.
But what you could do, is strike up more interesting conversations with your friends, and get to know them better.

im bringing a notebook pencils and my lunch tommorow for the first day of school.i dont know what to carry my stuff in.my mom says im not allowed to have a purse until im 16 (im 14) and i cant buy any of this big tote bags like the ones they sell at hollister because my parents claim "they are too expensive" im not going to bring a backpack since its too big so where can i get a smaller bag to carry my stuff in thats not a purse please help any suggestions will be great.

Try reasoning with your mom about the purse situation.
If she's really firm on that, you could get an off-brand tote bag from a department store; labels aren't everything.
I personally love messenger bags, but that's just me.

You're still (in legal terms) new to driving, so you must have someone that's more experienced driving with you.

Well, you see, I have a really messed up mom. She tries to make me and my sister hate my dad. They are divorced. And she is making are lives suck because she wants to make my dad mad. I think she smokes, but she supposedly quit like 2 years ago and shes been smoking behind our backs. And I have no idea what I should do.

All you can do is talk to your mom. Talk to her about your living situation, and why she wants to make you and your sister hate your dad. Have a real heart-to-heart with her, you know? Same with the smoking thing. Try to catch her smoking, so that you have some proof, then talk to her about it. There's really nothing you can do, it's your mom's choice.
If talking to your mom doesn't work, confide in a trusted adult, like a guidance counselor, and they'll help you.

my mom's 36. she's been smoking since she was 19. i'm really worried about her. she went to the doctor & he told her she has the lungs of a 70 year old woman. she's always coughing & having asthma attacks. does ANYONE know of ANYTHING i can do to help her. she's tried & tried to quit but my dad smokes too which is hard. i need my mom to be around for me. HELP!!!

My mom's a smoker too. I've tried to get her to quit so many times. I've flushed them down the toilet, I've cut them up in front of her face, I've hid them, I've stolen her lighters. None of them were effective, unfortunately.
You should talk to both of your parents. Maybe they could help each other quit, and be healthy. There's really nothing you can do; it's your mom's choice. Just be as supportive as you can be about her quitting.

Consider which is more important, how you feel about him, or your friendship with his him and his girlfriend.
I wouldn't do anything to break them up, because that could end really messy, and jeopardize your friendship with both of them.
I was in this position a while ago, and I waited until they broke up, and then I got really close to him.
If you think it's possible that he might like you, you may want to do that. But it is possible that he could only see you as a friend. Has he ever sent you signals that he might like you?
Wait and see how their relationship goes, and make decisions accordingly.

As a given, hang out with her more. Be more friendly towards her. Surprise her with something that she likes (my friend brought me flowers in the morning on my birthday before he asked me out). Talk to her more, and be more flirty; hug her more or pretend to be hurt when she doesn't hug you.

Hi- I had sex with my boyfriend about 3 months ago without realizing he had HIV.. I asked him..and he lied and told me he didn't have it..
So- When I went for my yearly doctor check-up(last week).. my doctor wanted to give me an HIV test because I'm homosexual..
and it came out positive.. and I know its from my boyfriend because he's the only one i've had sex with.. ever..
So should I be mad at my boyfriend? or should I be mad at myself because I didn't know he had HIV...

Also- my doctor told me that my HIV is going to result in AIDS in about 5 years..

Please help!

If he didn't know that he had it, then you can't really be mad at him.
But if he did know, then you have every right to be mad at him.
Don't be mad at yourself, because he lied (knowingly or not) to you.
