about
Hey guys! My name is Katy, I'm 16, and I'm from Massachusetts. I'm going to be a junior in high school. I'm a pretty friendly person and I have friends of all different groups, locations, ethnicities, etc. I can usually be found listening to music (I play the drums), playing volleyball, watching the Red Sox, being online, making websites, watching the Simpsons or Bug Juice :o), attempting to drive a car (with a parent or guardian in the passenger seat of course ;o) ), IMing my friends, keeping up with my journals, writing, reading, doing homework :oP, at school, dancing in the privacy of my own room, making people laugh, or giving people advice :o). My friends often come to me for advice, and I like to give advice, and so here I am!
advice
Hi people! I am on a high school varsity cheerleading squad. And the thing is, there are 15 of us and we are 600.00 in debt cause the last year's coach bought the team new uniforms and never paid for them, and now we need fundraising ideas. We already got the basics like the car wash, bake sale, candy sales, and things like that. So if anyone has any other ideas rather than the one's above, IT WOULD HELP US OUT ALOT! We also have to buy new uniforms as well! Thankz for your time! ;)
One thing you could do is have a joint yard sale kind of thing. Gather up a bunch of stuff you don't want and set up a yard sale at your school. You could also sell arrangements of flowers that you grow or have a craft fair and look up easy crafts online. You could have raffles too, and see if you can get local businesses to donate gift certificates or something. Hope I helped and good luck!
Okay the past two days i`ve had volleyball camps for four hours, and i havent really been that active this summer so now im EXTREMLY SORE...it literally took me a minute and 47 seconds just to walk down 11 stairs. So from me knees up is EXTREMLY sore...and my butt n parts of my back, so does anybody kno any good stretches that will stretch those places?? im desperate need answers fastttt i cant take it
For your back, sit on the ground with your legs out. Cross your left over your right, keeping your right leg extended. Then put your left elbow on the outside of your right leg and twist your torso. For your thighs and calves, stand up, cross your legs, bend forward, and reach down. You might feel this in your butt and back too. For the soreness, take tylenol or advil, and put a heating pad or muscle rub on the especially sore areas.
How many people are on a typical volleyball team? And what are the names of the positions, and describe what each postition does.
Well, there are different formations for volleyball depending on what level your at and what your strengths and weaknesses are. Typically, there are six people on a team, three in front and three in back. The way I played it, the three in the back would be responsible for bumping or setting the ball to the front row, specifically the setter if possible. The setter is in the front row middle, and they set to either their left or their right (but they should probably warn the person before they do). The people on their left and right spike the set over the net. The person in the back right corner is responsible for setting the ball. And I don't know if you'll do this at high school level or not, but we rotated so everyone played every position. Hope I helped!
i really am unorganized!!! i dohn't kno wat to do... i have never told anyone this but my last boyfriend of 1yeat left me cuz i was sooo mmessy wat should i do!
Try to get yourself organized. I have the same problem. Start with cleaning your room, and make sure everything, including the stuff you bring home from school, has a place to go in it. Once your at school, stay after to clean out your locker. Clean out your drawers and organize your desk area. Write down your appointments and assignments on a calender or in an agenda. Throw out anything you don't need, and give away or sell anything that can still be used. Good luck!
Ok, my school has a dress code, not exactly a uniform. We have to wear knee length skirts of solid color (no specific color) so they can be pleated, have bows, etc...We also have to wear polo shirts, sweaters, stuff like that...what are some ways to spice up my school uniform to make it cute and in style??
Wear cute colors, like a light pink, light blue, etc. and keep the color as a theme throughout your outfit, like a light grey skirt with a light pink bow and a light pink polo or something. You could also dress it up with cute accessories, like belts, jewelry (especially cute earrings), bows, sneakers, etc. Make it your own. Hope I could help.
Hey Everybody!!
Well...I'm engaged now, and I'm starting to plan my wedding. I'm not sure of my color theme yet...but I know that it'll most likely be on the beach, in the summer...mainly around July or Aug. My dress will be either off white or white. My question is...does anybody have an suggestions about colors on bridesmaids or..other things such as decoration. Thank ya'll soo much.
I don't know if this'll work for what you're going for, as I'm not really fashion forward or anything, but I really like the colors white or off white with a dark maroon or crimson. That's what I'm going to use for my wedding. I think those colors are absolutely gorgeous. I think if it's a beach wedding it shouldn't have a beach theme to it, because that's kind of corny. Good luck planning, and congratulations!
Ok I'm going into the 8th grade and I think I might need a backpack for this year. What kind of backpack and the namebrand should I get? I don't like messenger bags so exclude that. Thanks
I've had a black Jansport backpack that I got in 7th grade at Bob's Stores that has lasted until now (I'm going into 11th) and it's STILL going. And it doesn't hurt my back, and I have an ungodly amount of books to carry. I had an LL Bean one too, but it was a messenger and it hurt whatever side I was carrying it on. I use it for trips now though and it's really nice, so I would look at LL Bean too just not the messenger ones, go for the double strapped ones. Good call not going for the messenger bag.
ok. well i live here in a town called fresno. fresno is a town of really down to earth, cool people. most people aren't really wealthy, which means theres hardly any stuck up snobby people etc.
well.. now im moving to the town next to fresno, called clovis. and clovis is a really nice town. home to people living in MILLION dollar homes. a lot of wealthy people living in that town. so.. theres definetly gonna be snobby rich b**tches there.. and i dont mix well with those kinds of people. meaning, i dont like them lol.
i dont totally have anything aginst them tho, thats just not the type of people i like to hang with or be around..
so of coarse. im going to the school there called buchanan. so like.. im really worried that im not going to make friends because i dont care for rich snobbs which is mainly what the school is made of.
WHAT DO I DO??? how do i make friends..
love, manda
I kind of went through the same thing. I went from going to a public school in a not-so-wealthy (but not dirt poor) town to a "fancy", overrated private school. I expected everyone at my new school to be rich and snobby, and a few people were. But there were also many down to earth, nice people there too. I can't guarantee that you'll be in the same situation, but look for people who like you for you and not for how much you're worth and you'll have some good friends. The people I decided to befriend never talk about money, and I personally have no idea how much they make and whether they really are one of the richest kids in the school or whether they're just like me. Keep in touch with your current friends though, you said it's the next town over, so even if you go to Buchanan and it IS made up of all snobby kids, you'll have your down-to-earth friends from Fresno to back you up. It's only the next town over so it's not like you'll never see them again. Good luck.
Okay my best friend just told me shes bi..And im a girl to.I dont know what to do, should I still be her friend or should I like not be..Im kinda creeped out cause I dont want her to like hit on me or nething. What should I do? Im only 14 to what should I do
If she's your best friend it shouldn't matter what sexuality she is. Don't look at her any differently for being bi. And just because she's friends with you, it does not mean that she's suddenly going to develop a crush on you just because she likes girls. It's like if you have guy friends, you don't have a crush on every single guy you meet just because you're straight. You have to think about her like you thought about her before she told you she was bi. If she confided this in you, that means she obviously trusts you and values your friendship. Try to be as good a friend as possible and try to go back to normal, just because you know something about her that you didn't know before does not make her any different of a person.
My parents payed for me and my brother to go to a private school. It was really expensive but thank god we got insurance so some of the money will come back to us if we deside not to go. Well my brother and i ended up going to public school where it's free, the thing is that the private school won't let us get the money back unless we go there for 15 school days. I have been arguing with my parents saying that i just started to make friends at the public school, and things are really going my way. Going to the private school for 15 days will make it really hard to go back to the public school. I really dont know what to do cause it's a lot of money we will get back, yet i am really startin to fit in at the public school.
since this is long I will rate high!!!!!!!!!!
My friend is having the same problem. I would break up the 15 days. If you have a day off at public school that the private school doesn't have, you could go then. Or you could go like 3 days every couple of weeks. If you don't want to break it up, you could wait for a month or so, and then do the 15 days, so that you will have secure friendships at your new school. Make sure you tell your new friends at the public school what you're doing, so you don't just disappear for 15 days. Good luck!
i find myself never being able to sleep until like 2 or 3 in tha morning everynight..i cant ever sleep so i just go on AIM or something like that..any advice? i appreciate it. thanks
Ah, the summer sleep schedule. Try to start waking up a little earlier so that you'll be more tired when bedtime comes. You could also take some Tylenol PM around the time you want to go to bed, it helps me get to sleep.
can you help me find some books to read?i've read all the harry potters like 100 times, all the lemony snicket books, inkheart by cornelia funk, the traveling pants series, like all the books by louisa may alcott, chasing redbird, and mostly all the royal diary books, a lot of others too. could you please give me some advice on series and books to read?
Maybe you could start getting into the classics. I read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and that really got me into both American and British literature. I know when you hear literature you'll think it's boring and that you read it for school and not for fun, but I personally think that many are genuinely good stories that aren't given a chance because of school. Try A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Heminway, or Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
im 13 next week, and i thought that to be a great musician and get a contract you had to be at least like 16; but then i saw this thing about how JoJo and britney spears (JoJo now, britney spears like 6 years ago) both were 13 when they made their first music video...
i'm really into rock, and i'm trying
Whatever you do (sing, play an instrument, whatever), you have to practice to get better at it. Practice as much as you possibly can. If you're looking for a bad, advertise in music stores (Daddy's Junky Music, Guitar Center, etc.). If you're a singer, say that you are a singer in search of a bassist, guitarist, and drummer in your area and give your phone number (if that weirds you out, give an e-mail address). You could also post flyers in your library or in other public places. Look for kids in your school who are in the school band or who play outside of school and ask if they'd be interested. Encourage your friends who "always wanted to try an instrument" to go for it, and take lessons. Good luck!
i have known one of my friends for all my life....but she is immature for me...even though we r the same age i am in a higher grade because i started school early....she is jealous of my bestfriend...becuz she has known me for my whole life.....what should i do just let things go it own way?
You should tell her that she's acting so immature that you are questioning whether or not you even want to spend time with her anymore. If she values your friendship then she'll try to shape up. As for her being jealous of your best friend, it's probably BECAUSE she's your best friend. I, too, am pretty jealous of anyone with such a tight bond with one particular person. If she starts to act more her age, you could try to spend more one-on-one time with her, and if she doesn't take into consideration that you're really bothered by her lack of maturity, then I would say find a new friend.
