First of all, let me clear the air. Im a sexually active 20 year old, Ive never been married, and I personally see nothing wrong with premarital sex, or sex in general.
But.
I have many friends who are Christian or Catholic, and they are (in my opinion) anywhere from sexually repressed at best, to afraid of and disgusted by sex at worst.
I cant really talk to most of them about it, simply because its a very uncomfortable subject.So I pose the question to the masses. For those of you who are religious, what are your views on sex, and why?
Thought provoking answers might get my screen name for further discussion, if you like. Any answers that sound something like
"ur crazy! Sex is uber cool! I LOVE SEX AND THERS NOTHIN WRONG WITH IT!! hope I helped plz rate"
or outright flames will get a 1.
I am a Christian and believe sex before mariage to be a sin. I am guilty of it myself, being human, but nevertheless, recognize it for what it is. There is a verse in the New Testament(1Corithians, I believe) that prohibits "chambering" (KJV). I interpret this to be either prematital sex or living together without benefit of a formal marriage. There are those, also, who interpret the Old Testament as stating that once two pwople "lie together" they are married.
It is ultimately your decision as there is also a verse which states that what is a sin to some is not a sin to others. I believe this verse refers to such things as the eating of meats that had been previously been determined to be unclean, but which God had now given us permission to eat provided it was blessed first. (The origin of our mealtime "blessing")
My personal opinion is that it is an act of love between two people and is not to be used for simple recreation as is happening more and more today.

Hi, I'm 16/f and I was raised a Catholic. A really close friend of mine is like.. TOTALLY religious. He's completely devout to the point where he considered being a priest. lol, anyway.. he told me to read this chastity booklet called "pure love" a while ago (www.pureloveclub.com is the website for it) which I did. I was shocked at reading it. Apparently, not even french-kissing should be done outside marriage. I find this ridiculous in a way, and wonder whether any of this has a biblical basis.
My questions are: Should I tell my friend I read the booklet and give my opinions on chastity? Would it damage our friendship?
Secondly, and more importantly, is chastity really necessary? Is there anywhere that states that french-kissing out of marriage is sin? Why do they believe this? I realize that pre-marital sex is a sin, but kissing? Even light touching? Is this all necessary? I am against pre-marital sex (for my own reasons, not for religious reasons) but don't understand why they are so hell-bent against other things.
I hope I haven't offended anyone who is a Catholic. I respect anyone's religious belief, but I always question everything in life. :) I'd appreciate a totally unbiased answer. Thanks a bunch guys!
I'm a Protestant Christian and can recall no place in the Bible where it says that any sort of kissing is a sin. However, French kissing is something to be careful about because it can inflame passions and lead to premarital sex. This is the only basis I can see for not French kissing your boyfriend or girlfriend. As long as you have a tight rein on your emotions, though, go for it!
And, yes, like younggrandma said, I'm sure he gave you the information to read so he could get your opinion. Talk to him about it and give your honest opinion, but be willing to listen to his as well.

My boyfriend wants to go to a college thats like an hour and a half away and he found out from my best friend that i dont want him to... but the only reason i dont want him to is cuz ill miss him. But thats normal now he wants to stay here and be with me how do i convince him i really want him to be happy at the college he wants to go to..

The only advice I can give you is to sit down and have a heart-to-heart talk with him. Tell him how you feel and let him make his decision. Be sure to lay everything out for him and let him him know that all you want is for him to be happy and to get the best education he can for the money he'll spend. After that it's all up to him. Properly interpreted (and not taken out of context) What God is saying is that he will no longer speak to individuals as he did in the Old Testament. He expects us, and rightly so, to look around us and see the evidence of his existence. One of the people who responded to your question used the human eye as an example. That's a very good one, but only one of the many thousands around us.
Think of the laws of physics. Why do they work the same EVERY TIME? Why is an atom with one proton, one neutron and one electron always helium? Simpler still, why does an acorn always grow to be an oak tree and not an apple tree? This is because this is a designed universe we live in.
God has given us ample evidence of his existence and proof that he is there. It's up to us to interpret it properly.

I have thought alot about suicide. Wrote suicide letters, read them over and over. Some days I want to kill myself, others I don't. I was just wondering for someone who is catholic and christian why do these thoughts occur. I believe in God so much and go to church all the time, but yet I have these evil thoughts, what would happen if I were to kill myself, would I go to hell?
I have suffered from chronice severe Depression for many years. I am also a Christian. I can't answer whether or not you would go to hell for killing yourself but that really isn't the point here is it? You asked this question looking for help. The best thing you can do for yourself is to see a mental health professional. Your doctor can advise you on this and give you a referral.
If this is an ongoing thing, you may have a chemical imbalance that causes you to be prone to this condition. This can easily be corrected by using the proper medication. I went through several before finding the right medication and dosage. Hnag in there and see your docor right away. Please?
I hope you find the help you need because it would hurt all of the family and friends you leave behind. I'm sure that if you talk to them about htis they will support you and help you to get help. Again, please see your doctor!

I'm a Christian and have seen what you are talking about. You have the right to your opinion, but most so-called Christians will condemn anyone who isn't like them. They forget that Christ said to love the sinner, but hate the sin. It is not said in any one statement, but if you read the text and pay attention the message comes through. In other words they are wrong for trying to represent Jesus in the manner they do.

I want to make dinner for my boyfriend. I'm an ok cook but not really great or anything. Does anyone have any ideas of a nice meal I could cook that would be pretty easy to do? I'm not looking to make frozen pizza or anything, I really want to do this right.
Here's what you can do.
1. Set your oven on 350*.
2. Take two steaks or chops and season them how you like then set aside in fridge.
3. Rough chop (bite size pieces) some red and white onion; red,green and yellow bell pepper and some mushrooms.
4. Place veggies in a bowl and toss with extra virgin olive oil and your favorite spices until coated.
5. Spread veggies on sheet pan and set aside.
6. Now, cut two Roma Tomatoes in half lengthwise and coat in oil & spice mixture from bowl.
7. Place on sheet pan with other veggies.
8. Put the veggies and the meat in the oven and cook until the veggies are done. (The skin on the tomatoes will start to shrivel up. About 30 minutes.)
9. Remove veggies, turn meat and put oven on Broil. Cook 3-5 minutes.
10. Remove and enjoy

Yes, it IS a sin in a roundabout way. The Bible, to my knowledge, doesn't strictly prohibit it, but it DOES tell us to obey those in authority over us. This includes the laws laid down for us to follow. Most states have laws against dating anyone closer than a 3rd or 4th cousin because of the birth defects that can occur. Breaking these laws is a sin. Therefore dating your cousin who falls within these parameters is also a sin. Hope this helped.

hi. i read another question on here about heaven and for the Christians out there..what does it take to be in heaven? i go to church, i try to be nice to people, and i pray daily but how do i know if im doing enough? =(
It's not what you can do for God that gets you into heaven. You can give everything you own to charity. You can go to church everyday. You can volunteer at a homeless shelter or the hospital working on the terminal wards all you want and it won't get you into heaven.
There is only one way, according to the New Testament, to get into heaven. That is to have faith in Jesus Christ and to accept him as your Lord and Saviour. And it's as simple as asking him to come into your heart. That's all. That's it! Just remember that you have to mean it when you do it.

How should cucumbers be stored?
Uncut Cucumbers should be stored in the refrigerator. If part is cut off, tightly wrap it first. If it is cut into pieces (sliced or cubed) store tightly sealed in cold water to maintain crispness.
