I'd love to answer anybody's questions, but I'll usually avoid the ones about friends or relationships because those tend to bore me. :) I am knowledgable in a variety of topics, specifically fashion, etiquette, and questions about spirituality
/religion. Proper grammar and spelling is * sOoOo freekin hAwTt*.

But anyhow, I will try to answer every question as best as I can. I can't promise, however, to sugar-coat things or tell you what you want to hear, or rid my answers of any sarcasm, but I'll try. :)

I am a strong Christian that likes to study other religions, so I can better see eye-to-eye with people who have different opinions than my own. I am not perfect, nor do I claim to be, so please, never take any of my answers too personally. :)

In my spare time, I love playing the piano, listening to folk/indie music, doing volunteer work, writing, studying Spanish, learning about fashion and make-up, and acting competitively.

Ciao! :)

hey i'm going to middle school next yer and i'm freaking what's going to happen between me and my friends. Are boys going to start likeing me and those school dances. I can't take it i'm so scared what's going to happen to me help please. (link)
It's completely normal to be nervous, don't worry about it! The good news is that even though you're worried about next year, your friends and every other 5th grader is too and you guys can go through it together! But there's really nothing to be worried about, you'll love middle school. You get to know yourself and other people a little better and you don't have all the stress & pressures of high school. Like the advice below me says ... just have fun with your friends, make good grades, and stay out of trouble. ;) If boys start liking you, it's okay! It's part of growing up. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. There will be 6th grade girls that think they have to have 8 boyfriends throughout the whole year, but 6th grade is a little too early to start worrying about boys, in my opinion. And school dances are a blast, so definitly go with a group of friends, even if you don't want to dance with a boy! Have fun, good luck! :)

tonight im meeting my potential boyfriends parents!

i dont want to give them the wrong impression, but i dont want them to think im a prude or anything.

suggestions? (link)
YOU DON'T WANT YOUR BOYFRIEND'S PARENTS TO THINK YOU'RE A PRUDE??? I don't know what kind of family he comes from but last time I checked a guy's parents don't want to think he's dating a slut. Look classy and be polite. Goodness.

is there anything i can find around my house to maybe get rid of my zits and make them stay gone!!
they keep coming back and more of them then i had before. I wash my face all the time to try and stop this insane stuff!
please if you have any idea how to stop them or get rid of the majority of them tell me!!
is there anything around my house?? (link)
Some people say toothpaste works but it hasn't really done anything for me. Red wine vinegar also works wonders -- I swear by that stuff. I put it on one time and I could notice a difference in 5 minutes. Wow that sounded really cheesy. Just use it when you're in an emergency though, it basically just dries out the zit really quickly and isn't good to use all the time. Also, ice cubes are good to decrease the redness if you hold one on there for a couple of minutes. :)

well i've noticed a few people around my school with these gorgeous deep blue/green/teal color eyes. once i ask them about it, they say it's certain contacts they use that have a tint in them. i think they're eyes are like absoluely beautiful and i was wondering would it be safe for me if i started using contacts to get the same affect. i have 20/20 eye sight and i don't want to mess it up! Right now, i have bllack eyes, but i really want them to stand out! what color should i get if i get one? I was wondering if it would be safe to wear contacts the whole day, everyday, but only for visual affects (nothing that helps eye sight). also, whats your opinion on this? do you think this looks cheap and fake? i also had eye infection before because i was wearing too much eyeliner i think or because i waas sharing my eye maekup . do you think its still poossible for me to be ABLE to wear those fresh look contacts? thank you for your advice! (link)
You should ask your eye doctor. I have lots of friends who wear them, and they haven't had a problem yet (as far as I know), but I hear a lot in magazines, in the news, etc. that they can be dangerous. So I would see what your doctor says. They should be able to recommend a higher-quality brand or tell you if they're safe or not. I would hate for you to lose your vision because someone on a website told you to go for it...

I love the look of colored contacts, actually. (Although I haven't gotten the nerve to try them yet.) I think they look really beautiful unless you get the red cat eye ones or something. Ha. I personally don't think they look fake really, but that's just me. :)

Okay, I've noticed lately a lot of people wearing UGGS that look like slippers. (pic at the end of question)

Anyways I was at the mall last week and was in the shoestore and saw a shoe just like that which wasn't UGGS, but were very close. And they were only about 15 dollars... which surprised me a lot, but I didn't get them, even though I really liked them and thought they were just adorable..

any ways I am just asking for your advice, I really want these shoes. Should I go back and get them? Or is this just a fashion crisis, getting shoes that look like, but aren't, uggs?? (I dont believe they were exactly fake uggs, they had a brand name but idk what it was lol) my family cant afford to buy me real 120 dollar uggs, and this was much like them. Shoudl I get them? Thanks in advance.

Definitly! I'm all about saving money. If anybody is staring at your feet to figure out if they're real or not ... then that's just weird. They're just a fad anyways - as in, not always going to be "in style" (I'm surprised the trend has held on as long as it has)- so if you're going to, drop your money on something timeless instead.

So I want to punk-out an old pair of jeans I have without ruining them. Ideally, I'd like to be able to cover the jeans with a spattering pattern with bleach, but I don't want to mess up and make more holes than I already have. How can I bleach some spots without the bleach eating through and dissolving the denim? How do I do it, and how long should it take? Keep in mind I'm also going to be adding some pins and ribbons to make them look really funky and rocking. Any other tips and tricks are appreciated.
Thanks so much!
K (link)
I've never tried this, but maybe you could try dipping one of those bigger paintbrushes in some bleach and splattering it all over the jeans? Like artists do with paint. :) If those are too small of dots ... maybe you could like dip a rag or something in and do it that way?

Also, my friend bought a pair of jeans with plain back pockets and used one of those bleach pins to do a cute design on them before washing them. It was REALLY cute and they look expensive. So maybe you could try that? Just make sure, whatever you do, that you "experiment" on a piece of denim or other fabric to make sure it comes out okay. Don't want to ruin a perfectly good pair of jeans. :)

My hair is very damaged. I wash, dry, and straighten (with a CHI iron) my hair daily. I've dyed it numerous times professionally, but she didn't dye it right.
When she redyed it to touch it up, she didn't just put color on the roots then on the rest of the hair 15-20 minutes later. She put it all on at once.
I haven't dyed my hair since July and you can see where the damaged hair stops and the healthy hair starts. I know the only way to completely repair damaged hair is to cut it off but I'm looking for a product that will temporarily "fix" my hair and give it a healthy appearance.

Thanks=)

If you have the money, I would suggest going to your salon for a hot oil hair treatment. It's super relaxing and will strengthen and bring shine back to damaged hair.
If that's not an option, you can buy a deep or leave-in conditioner (Garnier Fructis has a cheap one, and Frederic Fekkai a more expensive one) to use a couple times a week.
Then there's always the do-it-yourself option. There are several methods and "recipes" out there for at home hair treatments, so look around and try a couple if you'd like. Here are some links with several recipes, as well as some for your face and skin:

I have pale skin, usually. It isn't scary pale, its more like ivory, but when I'm in fluerescent (spelling?) lighting, I look really...sickly? It just doesn't look good. I look like a vampire, and I obviously don't like it. Plus, the entire school has fluerescent lighting, and I definitely don't want to look bad at school. My question is, is there anything I can do (makeup trick, etc) that won't make me look washed out? Thanks =] (link)
Eek! Don't do what the person under me suggested. If you wear foundation darker than your natural skin tone, you'll just look like a pale person who doesn't know how to pick out make-up. :)

You can warm up your skin tone with peachy blushes and light-colored bronzers. Go easy on the bronzer though, nobody looks good with dark brown streaks going across their cheek bones. Also, avoid harsh or dark colored eye and lip make-up that will only make you look paler. Instead, wear brown or charcoal eyeliner/mascara rather than dark black, and a nude or rose pink lipgloss rather than dark-tinted gloss or lipstick.

I'm fourteen years old, but I'm small and I have a very young looking face. When people guess my age they think I'm twelve. I have brown hair, blue eyes, and very pale skin. If anyone had any suggestions on how to look a little bit older, they would be greatly appreciated =] I was also thinking that highlights might help, and if anyone knows about if that would help or not, I would love it. Thanks! (link)
My advice ... don't try to look older! Having a younger look is something you'll be dying to have when your 40. :) You could pile all the make-up and hair color on that you want, but then you'll just look like a 12 year old trying to look 18. Don't sweat it. Who cares if people think you're a certain age? That doesn't make you inferior or less pretty than any other girls your age. Instead, mature actions and a mature attitude will carry you a lot farther, and you will earn lots more respect from people than if you loaded up on foundation and eyeshadow. Just because you look this way now, or feel like you look this way now, doesn't mean you'll look that way for the rest of your life. :)

It seems like all fashion models are tall, and when watching Americas Next Top Model on tv, there was this one girl (bre i think) and they said she was like almost too short to be a model, and she wasnt even that short! I'm only 13/f right now, but when i grow older i want to try to be a model, but i'm extremely short, so i was wondering if there is any modeling careers out there that let shorter people model (right now i'm only like almost five foot) (link)
If you're only 13, you still have some time to grow, so don't sweat it. ;) I myself am an ANTM junkie, and I actually heard Tyra say that it is a myth that models have to be 6 foot tall to do runway- generally, they are 5'9" to 5'11". But that's not to say you can't be a little shorter. Also, there are other types of modeling out there besides just runway- there is also commercial modeling, which is more magazines, cataloges, advertisements, and commercials. You may want to look into those as well! Good luck. :)

i heard somewhere that if u brush your hair while its wet it doesnt help prevent split ends. is this true? bcoz im geting my hair cut 2day and after that i need to really take good care of my hair.

thanks a lot
xxxx (link)
I don't know about split ends, but brushing your hair while it's wet is bad for it. Since your hair is weakest when it's wet, harsh brushing can pull out your hair or damage the shaft. It's always better to brush wet hair with a wide-tooth comb after thoroughly towel drying it. :)

I have a ton of clothes, yet I have an extremely hard time putting together a good outfit! Please, some detailed advice! (link)
Okay ... not sure if this is what you're looking for or not, but here goes. ;)

I'm not sure what style or kind of clothes you tend to buy, but it may be time to clean out your closet, take them to a resale shop, and buy some new clothes with the dough. :) For people who have a hard time making outfits, buying basic pieces are best. (I.e. neutrals, solid colored tops, nothing too decorative) This makes it easy to "mix and match" with other pieces & accessories. Also, the magical solids + patterns lesson. If you're wearing a patterend skirt, wear a solid top, and vice versa. But maybe you already knew that. :) Solids on solids are okay, but can be kind of boring, so break it up with a cute hoodie or scarf, or a big chunky necklace.

Layering is also good, but can make you look bulky if you're wearing 4 different shirts. Sweaters over button-down shirts, bold tank tops under a basic t-shirt, or a long-sleeve shirt over a short-sleeve one can help you get more wear out of one piece of clothing, as opposed to wearing that shirt with the same outfit every single time.

Anyhow, not sure if that was what you were looking for. Clothes are something I do pretty well, so let me know if you have any more specific questions I can answer. :) Good luck!

So i was supposed to get my shoes before Christmas but it never came. And today I finally got it.. after like a month of waiting.

And they don't even fit! My shoe size is 6 but apparently I need a 7.

And they cost $50 online and i don't want my mom to buy another pair. :[

I dont know what to do.. It's lke my fault and I'm wasting money.

Is it really my fault? It's bothering me.

One of my feet can't even get into the shoe.

(link)
Most online stores will let you return their products, just check their policy. Sometimes, you can return them directly to the store (if they have one) or send them back to the warehouse and they'll ship you a new pair. You just have to pay shipping costs.

hey im not the best with covering up zits
is there anyway to do it to make it look like its not even there?
any advice will make me happy:) (link)
Buy a concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin tone. (I love the Cover Girl brand ... not sure what it is called but it has a blue cap and its liquid). Then dab a little on the spot you want to conceal. I find that its easier if you let it sit for 1-2 minutes. Then use a sponge, concealer brush, or your finger and blend it. Blending is the most important part because it makes it look natural, and not like you have a circle of makeup covering a zit. :) Then just dust a little transluscent powder over it, blend again, and voila! :) Good luck.

What type or brand of jeans will make my butt look smaller?
thanxs
(link)
I don't know of any specific brands, but darker washes are always more slimming, and make sure you don't get a pair with bleaching or tinting on the butt/back of thighs. Larger, flat pockets (no flaps or buttons) that have little or no decoration (some fancy stitching is fine, but no rhinestones :) ... ) should do the trick too. Good luck. :)

i want to get my eyebrows waxed but i dont know how to ask my mom to take me because i dont want her to think its weird or anything and i dont want to do it and people at school be like noticing alot and be staring or anything or ask me why i look different because i have never done it before. what should i do? and when i go what will they do like what is the process and how is the shape of them picked? because i want something not totally noticeable i want it to be suttle... do i pick or tell the person or do they pick for me? thanks! (link)
I'd say something to your mom like what Holldior suggested. Say something like, "Mom, since I've never really taken care of my eyebrows before, I was wondering if we could go to a salon and have them shaped so I know how to do it right." Getting your eyebrows waxed isn't as a big of a deal as you might think... I remember freaking out about it in middle school too and not wanting to ask my mom. :) It's good to have a professional show you the ropes the first time too, I've seen many eyebrow disasters before. :) One girl shaved her's off completely in 7th grade!

Anyhow... it's good to have your eyebrows groomed, and you're right, you want it to look natural, not overdone. The person at the salon will generally know how to do it properly and for your face type. I would just clarify with them before hand that you want them looking very natural and not too thin or over-shaped. If you want to, you could even clip out a magazine picture of someone whose eyebrows you like. May seem weird, but better safe then sorry, right? Just remember, if you have larger facial features, you want your eyebrows larger to be proportional with them. (And same for smaller features.) Good luck! :)

okay this might be a weird question lol. i have really dark features. everyone thinks im either spanish, greek, or something like italian, but i'm not. my skin tone is very tan, so basically im tan the whole year and black in the summer. i was reading an article about eyebrows & for awhile now noticed that a lot of my friends & just girls in general have pencil thin eyebrows. i pictured myself with them, not good at all. since i have such dark features, small light eyebrows would probably look really bad. my eyebrows aren't really thick & definately not manly, but theyre thicker then a lot of girls that get them done. they aren't sticking out all over, pretty well done actually. i never got them fixed or anything because i truly think i would look bad since my features. plus, my hair is very long, somewhat thick, and straight now. it just wouldn't look right! any ideas or suggestions??

thanks!! (link)
Your eyebrows should always be proportional to your facial features. Larger features ... larger eyebrows. Fortunately for you, pencil thing, over-tweezed eyebrows are out, and stronger, more natural looking brows are in. You never knew there were trends for eyebrows, did you? ;)

However, it's good to get them groomed every once in awhile. Either at home or in a salon, tweeze stray hairs around & between the eyebrows, trim if necessary, and clean up your arches. (Arch should be natural, not "rainbow" looking, and arch right above your pupil.) Hope that helps. :)

hi..
im going to college next year.. and what's bugging me right now is i don't have enough money to shop for the clothes i want..
can you give me tips in wise shopping and what to shop?? (link)
If I were you, I would start out just getting basic pieces. (One or two pairs of good jeans, a neutral coat, solid colored tops, dress pants, and a black dress.) These things go with anything, and are easy to dress up or down. Once you have those (you might have a lot of them already), see if your friends will trade or let you borrow some of their accessories. Me & my friends love swapping clothes with each other, and a lot of the time half of my outfit isn't even mine! :)

Also, check out coupons for stores. In the Sunday paper, a lot of department stores will offer 15% off coupons, and shoe stores will have buy one get one 1/2 off deals. Also, some stores like American Eagle will have rewards programs, so you can earn "points" every time you shop there for gift cards. You never know. I just bought some clothes on sale at Express Christmas weekend and got a free $15 gift card!

Also, check out the sales, especially in stores you usually wouldn't go into. Part of shopping is having an open mind and not getting into a "style rut." :) For example, I went into Foley's the other day (I would never think to shop there) and found an adorable black sweater for $9! Dig around, and try things on that you usually wouldn't be drawn to. Also, most stores' biggest sales are after Thanksgiving, after Christmas, in the spring (usually end of April) and at the end of summer.

Also, try not to buy in outfits. (I.E. - I bought this top so I need to buy a skirt to go with it... $$$.) Instead, focus on buying more neutral / basic pieces that you can mix & match with other things in your closet for different looks. For accessories, check out resale shops. I've gotten a lot of cute necklaces and purses from second hand stores that were dirt cheap. You just have to clean 'em up a little bit sometimes.

Hope that helps you somewhat ... let me know if you have any other questions. :)

I am the worst shopper! I can spend like 2 hours at 1 store then end up buying like 2-3 items. I just cant prioritize. When we're shopping for pants, I get a few pants, and then get some shirts too. Ughhh, also I went shopping for ripped jeans and army pants... where can I find good ones? Delias has good jeans overall.. the ones at A&E suck and i dunno about the others. also, where are some good (not too expensive. not like american eagle, with their clearances cause the stuff on sale probably isnt that good looking anyway. and the clothes dont really look that great) clothes overall in general for a 13 year old girl? My sense of style is like.. cute, preppy, sporty, sexy, laid-back, trendy i guess, sophisticated, not sluttyish but not like.. boring, and not too weird but not TOO mainstream, etc. Thanks alot!

So basically, can you help me with my shopping problem? I mean, I love to shop and all, but when I do this I end up not getting much because we waste time and my mom doesn't want to buy the stuff I pick out. Because they are expensive and not clearance (the clearance stuff wasnt good!) and like.. full priced. apparently i have expensive taste, but all i really want is something good to wear. at school, at parties, at home, etc. also, do you think wearing victoria's secret pink is too much for my age? i love those pants with "pink" on the butt but i dunno, haha. also, are they expensive, too? and do you still get that cute little pink dog with your purchase? XD also, with suggestions on a good store for me. oh yeah, I live in New Jersey, if that helps.

For more info, the stores I shop at now are Kohls, Walmart (I dislike it, but sometimes we gotta get clothes from there), Mandees, A&E (well I only got a pair of pants), Delias... thats pretty much it, for clothing. Oh, and JC Penny, but we cant go there often cause the store is faraway.

ooh and another thing. I'm african, so I have a big butt. Its hard sometimes to find good jeans because they can fit at the bottom then get a little funky at the top. even with a belt.. I only have like 1 pair of jeans that fit perfectly. also, any good (cheap) shoe stores? other than payless, hah.

1 more thing.. (-talks too much-) my sister has large feet, size 13 to be exact, i feel bad for her. where can she get some good shoes other than ordering them?

thanks thanks again and sorry it was really long but it had to be specific, heh.

(link)
Whew! That's a lot. I'm going to try to answer all of your questions ... but if I leave one out, don't hate me. :)

1) Good stores for 13 year olds:
I love Old Navy. They're everywhere, too. It used to have a bad reputation for ugly clothes (haha) but they actually have a lot of really cute stuff there now, and it's cheap! They have AMAZING sales also. Some other good and inexpensive stores are Macy's, Buckle, Wet Seal, Forever 21, Aeropostale, and Rue 21.

2) Problem with prioritizing:
Go in with a list and take a friend with you. If you need, say, a black sweater and jeans, only go in stores that you know might have them. That way, you can't get distracted. (That's where your friend comes in to keep you focused!) If you go in a store and see they don't have what you need, move on to the next one. That way you'll finish your shopping a lot quicker, and you can have time left ove to shop for fun.

3) How to shop clearance:
It might be different from store to store, but I've found a bunch of great pieces on sale at A&E! It might take a little digging, but I've been able to get a mini skirt there for $7, a white lacy tank top for $4, and tennis shoes for $8! Also, lots of stores offer coupons and rewards programs, so take advantage of those too! Don't be deceived by stores that you wouldn't usually shop at, that's where some of the best bargains are at! (B/C a lot of other 13 year old girls are going to think the same thing as you ... Who shops there?! So they might have a lot of cute things on clearance that they're trying to get rid of b/c no one's bought them... get the idea?)

4) Victoria's Secret Pants:
Hmm... I tend to be more modest in my taste, but I'm not crazy about those Pink pants on anyone, let alone a 13 year old. I'd let that trend go and not be a part in it. :) (Plus, I hear they're expensive.)

5) Big butt, small waist:
I feel ya on this one. :) A lot of girls have this problem, and finding the perfect fitting pair of jeans can be practically impossible. Find a pair of jeans that you like and that fit your butt, and take them to a tailor to be altered around the waist. They can take in the fabric for usually under $15. Maybe a little expensive, but you can wear jeans with anything and they'll fit you nicely.
If that doesn't work, check out the GAP's jeans. Those can also be a little pricey if you don't get them on sale, but again, jeans are basics, so it's okay to "invest" in a good pair. Their "curvy style" jeans are made just for this problem. I don't have any of these, but my friend has a pair and swears by them are the Apple Bottom jeans.. I forget who makes them but some rapper. :) Those are very expensive, but hopefully you have a birthday coming up. :) They're perfect for larger butts with smaller waists, and they're cute!

6) Size 13 Shoes:
Check out this website: http://www.zappos.com/n/es
They have literally thousands of shoes on this site in all different price ranges, and you can search by your size. (All the way to a size 18!) They also have spaces for you to specifiy price, width, style, color, and heel height. That should make it pretty easy for your sister to find the right size shoes!

Hope that helped you some, and good luck! :)

well, i don't know about where you live, but i've noticed lately all these girls have been wearing these tan ( i assume suede, i'm not sure though ) boots. they're not like snow boots or anything, just nice little boots ( but now uggs ). and i see they all have them in tan, and i want a pair in black and i know black pairs exist cause i've seen other girls wear them too.

i just have no idea where these girls are getting them. so my question is; does anybody know any stores that sell boots like that or any sites or anything?

black suede boots that are flat ( no heels or anything ).

if anybody can help, i'd really appreciate it.

i've been able to find a bunch on ebay so far, but that's it. (link)
I know they have some boots like the ones you described at Payless! My friend just got a pair from there. I'm usually not crazy about their shoes, since some of them can look cheap, but hers are really cute. I'm not sure how much they were, but they were a black suede-like material that kind of bunched at the top and were flat. I didn't see them online, but they probably have them in the stores.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/C/6007688/0~2376778~2372808~6007659~6007688
If you go to that website, they have a whole bunch of flat boots. I just got the Chinese Laundry ones in chocolate brown and I love them!
Here are some more... (Under $100)

Hopefully you can find something you like on here. Good luck! :)
