Hi, this is Kate. I'm 17. My life motto is 'Live Laugh Love', I really think those are great words to live by and I'm planning to have it made into a tattoo. I'm not religious but I love learning about different religions. I write stories based on things that have happened to me because sometimes I have days where I just think 'wow that sounds like something out of a book'. I've finished 3 stories and I'm about to start my first horror story..very exciting. I believe in fairy tale love...the kissing in the rain, staring at the stars on the rooftop kind of love..Why? Because I'm in that kind of love and its been the greatest time of my life. And it didn't come easy.
I'd love to help you with whatever issues come your way. I've been in relationships where the guy was too old for me, the guy was my best friend, the guy just wanted to get some. I've been the other woman but I'm not proud of it. I've been the girl who waits years to be with the guy she wanted.
I come from the type of home where everyone seems okay and then when everyone leaves its chaos. My parents should have been divorced years ago and I can't stand to be around either of them so for now I'm going day by day, only coming home to sleep and counting down the days until I go to college in August.

I really want to make my room more "me", but I don't really know where to start. I don't like a single thing in it. I'm all about peace, so I want my room to somehow reflect that. I was going to paint the walls green or blue. I was thinking of putting up a bunch of posters too, but I'm not sure where I'd find them. I have carpet so I can't really get any rugs or anything. I don't know. What all can I do to make it more personal? (link)
| |
If you want peace and nature type of thing I'd go with a light leafy green. Then you could pick a wall to do a peace stencil in. I think white would look good. It'd be really calming so the peace signs wouldn't take over the room. PBTeen has a lot of organic bedding too but I know Delia's has peace sign bedding. As far as posters go, maybe target? If not I got a poster from a company called DormCentral? I think. And they had a lot of them. Maybe paint the ceiling a light blue?

My kitchen and my living room are in the same room. The kitchen is about 13 feet, and the living room is right next to it and is about the same measurement. We are redoing our kitchen so its a lot nicer looking. The dilemma i am having is decorating. Since there is no wall separating the kitchen and the living room, i have to do the same color theme for each room. We are putting wood floorig through out the entire house too. I want to give the area a really fresh, and polished look.
So if anyone has any ideas on how to decorate my kitchen/living room (color themes, furniture, etc) please help me out!!! Thank You! (link)

Your sense of style would be helpful but I'm going to do my best without it. Maybe a beach theme without it being literal. Like a blue/gray on the walls, furniture could be dark woods or white and you can even mix them. Same goes for the cabinets although my personal favorite is white cabinets with some sort of brushed nickel or black hardware. Your color palate would be blues, white, neutrals, grays and silver.
Next option is a lot of earthy tones. Maybe a taupe/beige on all the walls and then a coffee or chocolate brown on the wall where you have your tv or a main focus wall. Do a stone backsplash, tile would look odd amongst all the natural elements.
Pale yellow is really light and fresh as long as it doesn't end up being off-white. It could work with your couch as long as you get another piece of furniture thats brownish. Most of your accessories would be citrus colors, pale orange, greens, white. I'm acutally looking at some Dove deoderant right now thats Energizing Citrus and thats where I got all those colors from and they work really nicely and its very light and airy and fresh.
Neutrals and earth tones are warm colors.
Reds/oranges are energizing.
Blues are cool and calming.
Yellows, greens and lighter shades of orange are relaxing happy colors.

My sister just moved out. Her room was in the basement, and used to be a kitchen so there are cabinets and a sink and a stove. the owner refuses to take it down. I want to make this MY AREA! i plan to put in a futon, tv, maybe my computer and just have it be my "extra" room. The walls are white and the bottom half is light wood. I am not renovating, just redecorating/painting. I want some tips on what color I should paint the top half, the bottom is light stained wood. i want a relaxing but bright tone. It is in the basement with no window! What color do you suggest. Remember warm, inviting color that still brightens up the room? (link)
|
you say that you want warm colors and light colors, which is hard to get. Maybe an orange-red or a shade of purple. Purple can actually be a warm or cool color depending on what else you put in the room, if you have soft fabrics in the room then it'll come out warm. wood always warms up a room anyway though. you could also use a shade of green.
ok so green, orange-red, or purple.

i need help with my dorm room. it is pretty small, but i want a few things to spice it up. mainly these things will be on the walls because i won't be able to have a lot of furniture or anything in such a small space.
-i am a creative, artsy person that likes music, art, poetry, dance intellectual things
-i'm a huge girly girl
-my bedspread has blue and white colors in it so far but i dont want to confine myself to only shades of blue
-i am into tropical things
-i love black
i am kind of all over the place. thus, i dont know how to decorate my dorm!!!! pleaseee help (link)

got a camera? go take some pictures around campus, friends, flowers, trees, whatever. then on your computer you can use almost any simple photo editing program to change them to black and white. then get a wide ribbon. whatever color you want and just use some push pins to put it on your wall and then you can use colorful clothes pins to hang your pictures on it. you could also type up some lyrics from one of your favorite songs and put it on some nice stationary and put it on the ribbon. i've seen this in a million magazines and it looks really cute.
i have a very similar style to you. the girly girl who loves black and artsy things and the beach. i hope you like the idea!

Hey! So I'm a 15 year old girl. And I live in a smaller house. Not like super small, but small. Hehe. Anyways, after we redo our bathroom and fix carpet in one of our rooms, we intend on moving. Right now, my room is in a tropical theme. I realllyyyyy want to redo it, but if we move within a year or so, there's no point in redoing it now. If I do redo it, I want to do it in a black and white theme. I really like my tropical theme now, but I'm ready for something more sophisticated. And if I did do it here are the ideas that I have so far: Black and white beadspread, pictures of me and my friends, but black and white pics, actual black and white pictures that you can buy, maybe a lamp or something. And I was actually thinking of maybe painting one wall black, and leave the rest white, and putting a some kind of white picture on the black wall. So what I'm asking is does anyone have any other ideas? and where I can get things? And also, what should I do with the tropical things I already have. I have pictures on my wall, some were kinda expensive and a beadspread, oh, and tropical necklace holders. What should I do with that stuff when I'm ready to get rid of it?? Thank you all! (link)

i suggest not making everything black and white. you can make most of it black and white but make sure you add some colorful pillows or something. for example bedspread is white and black, one wall black the others white but have a hot pink pillow and matching lampshade. or whatever other color you like. pretty much all colors go with black and white so just something otherwise all black and white might be a little blah. don't get me wrong i like the idea a lot...just add something colorful.

hi. i think im going to do something for my mum. just because she's great. now her room isnt somewhere you would think of relaxing. so im thinking i might spruce it up a little. im going to move all her clothes into the spare room, so its like a wardrobe room, and then put a bedside table on one side of the bed. its jsut me and my mum, so she has the double bed to herself, and i cant afford another bedside table. im going to put a new lamp on the table, and get some artwork for her, and expensive bedsheets.
my question is...what can i put on the other side of the bed? to make it look more symetrical? i cant get another bedside table, so what could i get? (link)
| |
that is SOOO sweet. there's a lot of things you could use. you can put a big plant there or take a chair and put sculptures on it so it acts as a bedside table. maybe you could get a floor lamp and put little nick nacks on the bedside table. if you get something that is the same color of the bedside table then it would look more symetrical,

think of your DREAM house.
and tell me something about it.
something special.
dont tell me "it has a living room"
tell me something different about it.
like how the hall, is a hall of mirrors.
or how the fifth floor is a paintball range or something.
or even somthing about the outside.
how all the windows are shaped like bongs.
or your secret garden right before the bar on the beach.
:)
things like that.

three floors plus a finished basement.
first floor:
massive kitchen w/ dark wood cabinets and tanish grey granite countertops. big stainless steel fridge and one of those proffesional industrial stoves. in the corner i want a little nook where i can have a bistro style table with 2 chairs. then a family room off of the kitchen with a huge stone fire place and cozy comfy couches that you can sink into and one of those big wood entertainment centers with lots of shelves for books. next in the dining room i want wood floors and a tray ceiling but not a normal tray ceiling, i like the ones where its like four boxes pushed into the ceiling. then i want a living room, nothing special. in the back of the house i want a big sunroom with white wicker furniture and some sort of stone tile flooring. ok now on to the second story:
about 5 bedrooms all designed like hotel rooms for lots of guests and each with their own bathroom.
on the third floor:
there will be the master bedroom that is loft like, big and open, and bright with lots of windows overlooking my rock waterfall that flows into the pool. my master bathroom will be enormous with sky lights over the jacuzzi tub, then i want a big shower...big enough for two people : p
oh and i want the entry to be big, like a two or three story one with a big window above the door. then in the basement i want a movie theater and a bar and another fireplace down there. and a billard room and an office. oh and i want my driveway to have a big iron gate, but a nice iron gate with my initials in the middle.
thats all
: )

I used to have a ton of posters and random cut outs from magazines and stuff on my wall. Most of it kind of fell off, so i just took everything off of it. I need some ideas what i can do to redecorate it. Dont say leave it plain cuz its pink and icky. Your answers are much appreciated! (link)

i dont know if you're the crafty type but my walls are covered with canvases that i've painted. i have a wall that looks like an art gallery. if you like painting it's a nice personal thing you could do to your room.

Does anyone know where i can get a chair like this for $150 or under?
http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/images/us/local/products/productsall/p311425b.jpg
Not necessarily a print like that, just that kind of chair.
I want a direct link.
Also, please please please dont say ebay or anything like that. I want it from a trustworthy source. Speaking of, no bad or unheard of furniture companies. I want the provider to be relatively well known. (pbteen, urban outfitters, etc. dont say urban because i already know that one but you know what i mean.) (link)
| |
i went on to www.hivemodern.com and they had chairs kind of like that. truth is if you want quality name brand furniture you're going to have to pay the price for it. walmart had chairs similar to that and they were still about $300. pbteen didn't have egg chairs by the way. so either you splurge for the chair you want or get a chair with a similar design for less.

in movies or pictures, ive seen peples bedroom walls covered in a collage of pictures and things from magazines. i love how that looks, and id love to do something like that. how can i attatch the pictures and things to my wall? tape wont hold for that long, so im dont know what to use. any ideas would help!
thanks! (link)
| |
tape works on most people's walls but i'll trust you and say it doesn't. theres this blue gooey stuff, i know alot of teachers use it for big posters in their classrooms you could probably find it at staples or office depot, thumb tacks could work too or colorful push pins.

im re-doing my room soon. like im painting my walls and getting all new furniture and everything. my room is like all white now and it has wooden floors so i kinda want to get a rug. if anyone has any cute ideas...

I am 13/F and I want to redecorate my room for high school. I dont have a high budget so I was wonderring if anyone had ideas of things I could MAKE for my room that would look cool. I love polka dots and the colors lime green/blue if that helps. Thank You (link)
|
go to a craft store and buy a large canvas. then buy some of your facorite color paints. use household items that you are allowed to get some paint on and make different shapes in paint. for example i have a painting in my room that i did where i put masking, or painters tape in random directions all over the canvas and painted each of the little boxes uncovered by the tape a different color. when you pull the tape up it has a really awesome affect with the white backround that was under the tape. or to make polka dots, take a bottlecap and trace around it all over the canvas then paint the circles. put your painting over your bed. canvases are fairly cheap. one that is about 24 x 18in is around $10 depending on what kind you get. then you can just buy some new accent pillows that are you favorite colors and put them on your bed, or if you have a chair in your room. if you have wood floors add an area rug. hope i helped

My room is super bland. the walls are all painted white and i need something to make my room more interesting. plz help! (link)
|
if you don't want your entire room to be painted then just try painting one wall. that'll be the color of all of your accent pieces. for example if you paint the wall behind your bed red, then get a white comforter with red pillows and red curtains and a red area rug. it can be any shade of the color. OR if you want to paint the whole room then pick another color for pillows and curtains. if you pick a bold color for the walls then make the accent color a soft color. vise versa, if you pick a soft color for the walls then pick a bold accent color. alot of paint companies make sample color jars so you can buy a little paint sample before you spend $20 on paint that isn't what you want. go to your home improvement store and just spend some time with those little paint cards. figure out which colors you like together. hope i helped

I'm re-doing my bedroom, with the colors of light blue and brown.
Anyone know where I can get good stuff to match?
Thanks! (link)
| |
JcPenny has almost every color of sheet sets if you need sheets and they have a comforter that will match your colors, i was looking at it the other day. Brylane Home deffinately has those colors for comforters but they're just solid colors most of the time. Brylane home always have alot of sales too. Try Sears also because they're supposed to have a nice "home" section.

So I'm renting a house with friends, and somehow I ended up with the only room in the house with tacky, cheap fake wood panelling. It's kind of ugly, and I'm allowed to paint my room. I'm just concerned that it'll end up looking like painted panelling... but I don't have the time to spend filling in all the cracks. Has anybody else had to deal with something like this? I need ideas! (link)
| |
i have wood paneling and i chose a lavender and light blue as an accent color. i ended up painting my wall in stripes using every other panel a different color. it surprised me how good it came out. it's going to need a few coats of paint but in the end i really liked it. i forget that there's still paneling under it. i painted 2 of my walls just the purple and i can barely see the cracks in the paneling.

okay my room is pink.. everything is pink.. i have a walk in closet, two circle chairs [ pink], a little white table in between them, a twin bed [pink],two laterns [pink&white], a desk with a computer, a storage unit, and a tv on a black tv stand.. basically everything matched so i was just wondering if anybody can help me figure out how to reorganize my room i always just throw everything in random boxes all over my room and i need help to keep it clean and im very creative.. im into poetry, drawing, fashion designing,& photography but i want to show that in my room by making my room into my own studio and a place to hang out can anyone help??? please (link)
|
separate your room into differnt areas. pretend its an appartment. make a little living room with your chairs and the table and one of the lamps. place the tv and the tv stand in this little area but at an angle that you can see it from your bed too. use the storage unit to separate your desk area from your sleeping and "living room" area. jazz it up a little with hand painted designs or stamps. paint your bed with little designs too. set up your desk in another corner and put your other lamp near it so you can have good light when you work at your desk. take a digital camera and take your own pictures of a flower close up or just something simple then go on your computer and change them all to black and white. paint something, because nothing makes a better statement than your own work. mine is all over my house and im proud of it. its comforting and a lot more personal than buying a picture. take some black paint and paint a few lines from a poem on your wall. get thin storage boxes to go under your bed and make sure you have a bed skirt to cover them. try to find some hanging closet organizers at walmart. cut out cool pictures from fashion magazines and make a collage, glue them onto a poster board and put it on your wall. i hope i helped, i want to be an interior designer so get back to me please.

i just bought this really cute comforter called "fifi" from bed bath and beyond and its like paris themed. and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what i could do to my room to add onto that. i'm thinking of paintings so if anyone can think of a picture that would fit into the paris theme, please let me know! thanks! (link)
|
try going online and finding photographs of little bakeries or coffee shops and maybe one of the eifel tower(that would make your theme obvious). if you think that you're skilled in art then try painting your own paintings for your room that'll add a personal feeling to the room. get a fun little painting of a pink poodle too.

Does anyone know of any cool ideas for decorating an attic; or any websites to help me out. Theres two rooms; so i want the first room to be like a living room with a TV and stuff; and the second one to be my bedroom. Im thinking of doing brightly colored walls and i have white furniture already. The walls are like slanted down if you know what i mean. Ill Rate. Thankss. :]] (link)

i love attic rooms. light lime green would look good with white and so would orange. get a nice area rug thats warm and fuzzy. lol. make your mark on the space. make it unique and your own. you can either make your bedroom tie in to the design of the living room area or make it completely different. padded headboards are really nice. you can find them in JCPENNY or you can make your own. if you have any specific questions on the rooms then leave a msg in my inbox

I am going to have someone live here and i dont have room for another bed in my room. Im 15 female and so is she and i dont like regular bunk beds. My problem is that futon bunk beds, when the futon part is used as a regular bed, theres a part in the middle that is painful to sleep on. And i really wanted a futon bunk bed becuase it seemed like the perfect thing to use becuase i need one full sized bed for my full-sized very expensive comforter. What should i do? People with experience are very much helpful too! Thanks!!!!!! (link)

you could try getting a mattress topper like foam toppers just to add more padding between the bed and u. or put a piece of ply wood under ur bed but i'm not sure how well that will work
