My kitchen and my living room are in the same room. The kitchen is about 13 feet, and the living room is right next to it and is about the same measurement. We are redoing our kitchen so its a lot nicer looking. The dilemma i am having is decorating. Since there is no wall separating the kitchen and the living room, i have to do the same color theme for each room. We are putting wood floorig through out the entire house too. I want to give the area a really fresh, and polished look.
So if anyone has any ideas on how to decorate my kitchen/living room (color themes, furniture, etc) please help me out!!! Thank You!

Maybe a beach theme without it being literal. Like a blue/gray on the walls, furniture could be dark woods or white and you can even mix them. Same goes for the cabinets although my personal favorite is white cabinets with some sort of brushed nickel or black hardware. Your color palate would be blues, white, neutrals, grays and silver.
Next option is a lot of earthy tones. Maybe a taupe/beige on all the walls and then a coffee or chocolate brown on the wall where you have your tv or a main focus wall. Do a stone backsplash, tile would look odd amongst all the natural elements.
Pale yellow is really light and fresh as long as it doesn't end up being off-white. It could work with your couch as long as you get another piece of furniture thats brownish. Most of your accessories would be citrus colors, pale orange, greens, white. I'm acutally looking at some Dove deoderant right now thats Energizing Citrus and thats where I got all those colors from and they work really nicely and its very light and airy and fresh.
Neutrals and earth tones are warm colors.
Reds/oranges are energizing.
Blues are cool and calming.
Yellows, greens and lighter shades of orange are relaxing happy colors. [ modelkate11's advice column | Ask modelkate11 A Question ]

Do a tuscan/vineyard style theme!!
Colors: Browns, Tans, Greens, Purples, Deep Reds, and Mustard Yellow
Kitchen: Vineyard themed artwork (small) framed paintings of grapes, cheeses, wines, etc. Little ...maybe a border of grapvine going around the kitchen...etc. heres a picture:
