"People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone." - Audrey Hepburn

I came to this site for advice about a man and love. That very question turned my entire world around and I have had my eyes opened to things I never noticed before.

I've stayed here so that I can share the knowledge I do have. I know I'm not changing the world but I do hope that I spark others to open their eyes.

"The only thing to do with good advice is pass it on. It is never any use to oneself." - Oscar Wilde

So, if you learn something from what I say then repeat it to someone else who can use it.

I hope that if you see an answer of mine that you enjoy it will inspire you to go out of your way to give good, solid information. Provide links for further information, detail your responses, encourage people to seek out professionals when it's needed, and stop sugar-coating responses and just say the truth.

I hope that even if you absolutely hate my answer that it'll kick start your brain. Hopefully you'll begin taking your time to respond instead of hurried answers that are useless to an already confused person.

Alrighty so my boyfriend is getting my nipples pierced for Christmas, and i just want to know the pro's and cons of getting this done.

Like how long do they hurt for, and how long (from personal experience) do they take to heal up? Also, what are some things i should ask the piercer before i get it done, and whats a good way to tell if the shop i'm going to is a good one?

Ive wanted to get them done for quite awhile now, and i don't think that if i DO get it done ill end up regretting it, but I would just like to hear some personal accounts about what happened after people got them done.

Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks so much (link)
When they pierce the nipple that entire side of your body feels like someone just lit it on fire. I am not, in any way, exaggerating. From the top of your head down to your toe tips felt like it was burning flames. It takes about 1 full year to heal and in that year you absolutely cannot take stupid risk like going swimming or having them sucked on. If you aren't careful the mammary glands can actually become infected, especially so if the piercing is done wrong, and you can wind up with an infection that requires surgery.

If the shop is clean and pleasant then that's a good first step. They should have something called an autoclave to sterilize jewelry properly. There should be separate rooms for tattoos and piercing. They should be competent on what you'd like done. You should be able to watch them open the needles. They should have starter jewelry on hand. They also should have a certificate from the local health department saying their location is clean and safe. They should also have material available for you to look at in regards to some of their previous work. (Tattoos & piercings)

Wear a shirt you won't mind getting blood on. Your nipples may bleed quite a bit. You don't want to be walking around with blood spots where your nipples are. Trust me.

Start with a straight barbell and nothing curved. Trust me. You do not want this to be rejected and have weird scared nipples because you wanted to look fancy.

Always wash your hands before touching the nipple or jewelry. Never twist or move the jewelry during the 1 year healing process. Rinse it off with saline solution (sea salt water, typically) twice a day. Use a clean cotton swab soaked in the saline if you get crusty bits (and, oh boy, you will). Never use alcohol, peroxide, or antibacterial ANYTHING (soap included) on a healing piercing if you want minimal scar tissue!

You may need to purchase new bras that will feel more comfortable on the piercing.

Some people say it feels better to go without a bra during healing.

Some day it feels good to wear a padded bra during the healing.

Some people say it feels best to wear a sports bra during the healing process. I suspect this is if you have larger breasts. This would help minimize the amount of movement of the piercing.

Always, always, always do tons of research before getting a piercing. I absolutely cannot stress that enough. I had more than a dozen piercings in my lifetime and the best thing I ever did was read about it first. Things like the healing process doesn't tend to vary from person to person and if you cannot devote 1 full year to healing the piercing then it just isn't a good time for you to get it done. I mean, a lot of women cannot give up swimming for a year, you know? And why would you risk your NIPPLES getting infected?! Don't do stupid things. Period. You have to take care of yourself. This includes telling your partner he can see but not touch, lick, suck, or anything else he'll probably want to do within the first year. Your health is important.

Some people, women moreso, find that the nipple piercing desensitizes their nipples and they do not become aroused as often any more.

You should plan to NOT become pregnant during the first year of the piercing. The changes that happen within the breast can cause some nasty effects to the piercing, including built-up scar tissue or infections. No pregnancy for 1 year.

If you ever choose to breastfeed after it has healed then you should be good to go with no problems.

If you ever choose to remove them then take good note that there WILL be scar tissue. I regret having mine done for this very reason. The scar tissue isn't pretty, most times, and it really makes you go, "Damn. Bad decision."

Hmm...I think that's all about the nipple piercing.
