Today I woke up feeling feverish and ill, so I called work to tell them I wouldn't be coming in. I went to the doctor's in the afternoon and when I got home my Dad told me that work had called saying that I'd be on Facebook saying that I was 'out enjoying the sun with my boyfriend'. I called my boss who said that a member of staff had told him that. I told him that it was a complete lie as I had not been on Facebook all day and had been at the doctors. He said we would discuss it when I next came in on Friday.

Now I am really quite worried that I am in trouble about this. I can swear now that there was nothing of the sort on my Facebook and that the only time I have left the house today was to go to the doctor's. Furthermore, my boyfriend is away today so there is no way I could have been out with him.

What should I say to my boss on Friday? I'm now worried that someone from work has got it in for me and don't know what to do.

Facebook and myspace etc has been increasing getting people in trouble anywhere. If there is anyone at work that you dont trust I would definetly block them, and monitor what people can see. If you have not, set your profiles on private.
Dont be worried about what your boss is going to say to you, he/she can honestly be sued for false accusations. Not to mention they dont know what really happened. Unless anyone has actual proof of what went on, nothing can happen.
If you did actually go to the doctors (which you claim you have) I recommend you call your doctor up and ask for a referal note, or some evidence that you were in fact there. Even getting a note from your parent (just in case) would be a really good idea.
Just remember not to take an attitude with your boss while speaking to them, at this point, it sounds like they would like to fire you for any little reason they can.
Good luck!!! Tell me how this works out for you! :-) If you need anything else, you can ask at my column, xosodapopx3

(Rating: 3) My profile is private to anyone who I haven't added, and all the people I have who are from work are people I would consider friends. Also, it wouldn't matter if they had my Facebook or not because this is completely fabricated. I gave my boss the details of my appointment and told him he was welcome to check but he said he wasn't going to. I usually get on with everyone at work and don't have any problems with my bosses, which is why this is so upsetting.
Thanks for your advice.
