i've always used liquid & pencil. and have never really seen gel eyeliner before.
how is it better than pencil and how is it not?
any recommendations on what brands are good?
does it last all day?
smudge?
fade away?
is it noticable like liquid?

Well it is better than liquid and pencil eyeliner because it comes on smooth and smudge-proof. :)
Yes, it lasts all day. It lasts a very long time!
Of course it noticeable. What I love about it is you can apply it thick, thin, however you want it. It's almost like drawing on your eyes. =D
Price range: $6 to $20.
$6-$12 (the cheap ones, but still works) - you can get them at any drugstores, like Walgreens.
BRANDS: Jane, L'oreal HIP
$13-$20 (the expensive & the ones that stay true to you) - you can find them online, for example Beauty.com or I would suggest Sephora.
Recommendations: MAC Fluidline; Stila Smudgepot; Bobbi Brown.
