I am a 29/f that loves to listen and try to help out. I have always been the one people go to for advice. I will tell you how I feel about it. If you don't like my answer, I'm sorry. However, usually what I say is true, people just can't handle the truth.

I want to get a completely new hair makeover for college. I'm going to at least get my ends trimmed and relax my hair, and MAYBE go on to put in some hair extensions or highlights.
Anyone know how much this might cost? If I relax my hair, will it still be slightly wavy? I don't want it to be limp (so if it does end up limp, I'm going to get hair extensions/weave to volumize and plump up my hair).
Here are some information for you to think about. I went and read up on this the other day, because I was wanting to do the same.
Hair extensions- The best kind to get is the Great Lengths ones. They are 100% human hair and last longer. However, if you do this, make sure you get a professional that knows what they are doing. Any professional will not be offended by asking questions. These are the questions I would ask, outside the normal hair questions of maintenance and procedure:
1. How long they have been doing hair extensions?
2. Do they have any before/after pictures to show their work?
3. Do they have any references?
Make sure they have a license as well. See if they have had the actual training for their specialty. I would ask these questions on anything that you have done other than a cut and highlights.
If you are doing hair extension, get the best kind because you do not want your hair looking unnatural. Here's the problem though the price for this to be done is anywhere from $400 to $1500 dollars. This also depends on which area you are in.
I would suggest not relaxing your hair. They use chemicals and it can damage your hair. I would suggest doing something called Japanese Thermal Reconditioning. It straightens your hair and last for a while. The cost for this is around $400 as well.
Highlights can vary in price depending on several factors: location, extensiveness of highlights and length of hair. It will be a safe bet that they will range anywhere from $40 to $200.
For more volume in your hair, I would suggest getting your hair layered. This adds more depth and volume to your hair.
