How do you develop a better relationship with your cat?

I try to feed him and play with him but he never seems to want anything to do with me! He snuggles up with my boyfriend instead of me and never wants to sleep with us in the bedroom. He's always been a very independent cat but sometimes I wish he would be a little more affection-friendly. He won't even let me pick him up!!

Generally speaking you cannot get a cat to like you more if it doesn't like you to begin with. Cats are funny like that.

(Rating: 2) That's not really advice and not correct. Cats tend to rely on learned behaviour, so they can learn to be more affectionate as they age.
