..and as for playing with your cat, yarn works wonders (or dangling some sort of toy in front of her...she will start playing around with it). My old roommate used to have a cat too, and she had a wand that she'd wave around, and sometimes some string would do the trick.

Also, cats often choose a person in the house to become attached to. My sister and I used to have a cat, and she loved my sister so much..she'd follow her around and sleep in her room at night. To get her to bond with you, you can try playing with her, offering her food/treats, etc.. I think all cats have their own personality..so she may respond in a certain way to you. If you are the primary caregiver, she'll become most attached to you, since you play with her and feed her. She'll start to bond with you once she feels completely comfortable.
