Q: Okay, I'm starting highschool this year and i have a HUGE fear of public speaking. This year we have to take an "art" so not thinking i chose theatre arts; and were going to have to be on stage a lot. when i get up in front of a group i tend to shake or my voice shakes,.. how can i get rid of this fear and start highschool with some more confidence. thanks in advance!

Trust me when i say i had the exact same problem! The thing that helped me the most, was i always had a friend stick through it with me. If i even felt a bit nervous, i would look at my friend, and she would give me an understanding/encouraging smile. Trick: tell your friend in advance!! =] But if i still felt nervous i would look directly at my friend, and pretend i was talking to her. I know that your doing a drama class, so youll be looking at other people a lot, so just remember, why worry? the worst thing that could happen is for you to forget your words, butpeople will be there to help you. And while it might seem like the most embarrising thing at the moment, if you just improvise and keep going, no one will notice! Another thing to do it preform small skits infront of your friends and family. That will boost up your confidence! Also while your preforming, try getting caught up in the moment, act like your character. would your characters voice be shaking? and one last thing, dont put your self down, that only makes things sooo much worse. tell your self that you know you can do it, and that you are going to give the show of a lifetime!!

WHY I'VE BEEN GONE:
First off, I just wanted to say SORRY-that i havent been on at all-!!
So HUGE news. I moved! so thats my excuse why i havent been on here. Its been a rough summer, getting use to everything. But i think im back. I know i wont be on as much, but ill try to come on as often as i can.
Also, since this is my senior year, and things are CRAZY!! I probably wont be on nearly as much, but ill try! =]
