Sarah Dessen is a wonderful author who writes great books for teenage girls (I don't know what gender you are, sorry) and she is always my most reccomended. Most of her books aren't really sad, but there are sad situations in a lot of them, like Dreamland, a book about abuse. My favorites by her are This Lullaby and The Truth About Forever.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult is definitely a tearjerker. You should check that one out.

Also, you can try Go Ask Alice. It's the diary of a girl who gets into drug abuse.

Second Star to the Right by Deborah Hautzig
is about a girl with an eating disorder.
