i'm reviewing for a BIG test i have in math class tomorrow and i can't for the life of me figure out how to do these two problems.
square root of 12. i know the answer is "2 root 3" but i don't remember how you get that.
and when you are using the quadratic formula. the "B squared + or - the square root of B squared + 4 x A x C. all over 2a." if you don't know the quadratic formula then don't answer this. but i substituted the numbers into the formula correctly but i got a negative under the square root and i don't remeber how to simplify it now.

okay, i think i can help. for the square root of 12... okay, you have 12 under the square root sign. then to simplify 12 (still under the square root sign) see if there are any factors of 12 that are perfect squares. what i mean by this is that 4 X 3 = 12, and 4 is a perfect square. this is all still under the square root sign. then, take the square root of 4 (which is 2) and place it outside of the square root sign. then, you have the square root of 3 and you can't simplify that so you have your answer. as for the quadratic formula, you are doing it right, BUT remember how you can't have a negative square root? that means that there is no answer! so the answer would be "undefined" or "none" or whatever. for example, if you have the square root of -16, you can't simplify that because it is impossible to have a negative square root. why is this? 4 X 4 = 16. 4 X 4 will never equal -16, and -4 X -4 will never equal -16. i had this same problem last year because i kept trying to get the square root of negative numbers, but that is impossible. so at that point in the formula, you just write down "undefined" because there is no possible way to simplify it beyond that.

of course this isn't discrimination. if person A requests person B's friendship and person B says no, then they have the right to do that. and if person A keeps requesting friendship, AKA stalking, then person B has the right to block them. have you ever considered that this is this guy's personal myspace that he keeps to communicate with friends? wouldn't it suck if you were famous and all these people kept trying to add you and kept commenting you "ooooo you are sooo fine will you marry me lolz!!!!!" ? you can't force anybody to be your friend, even on myspace. and if the actor doesn't want to be your friend's friend, then so be it. EDIT: What the heck? You're stalking this guy, and I'm sorry that it pisses you off that I'm telling you that, but did I not thoroughly answer your question? How does that merit a 1?

i'm not fluent in spanish or anything, but i do see a few problems in the translation. spanish translators sometimes don't work as well because spanish and english are a little different in the rules. for example, there are a lot of words in english that mean the same thing for a lot of different things (cool can mean "awesome" or "cold") but in spanish there are separate words for them. also, in spanish you have to consider who you're talking to when you ask them "how are you?" and the translator put in the version of "how are you?" that you would say in a formal/respectful way to a teacher or adult. if you really want to see how screwed up this can be, put the spanish text into the translator and see how it translates to english. a translation site isn't a good tool to learn a new language because you can learn the words, but you won't know how to use them properly. in spanish, telling time for example, you have to know how exactly to tell time because that's a pretty funky subject. hope i helped.

they're really that smart. remember that ken jennings guy that stayed on the show for a really long time? he's just really smart. a lot of people "train" before they go on jeopardy, but the questions are never released to them beforehand.
hey i play oboe and i need to know how to play an arpeggio.. i need to no it for the F major scale for sure but like also all the other scales... how do you play an arpeggio tho.. like how do u no what it is
an arpeggio is the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 8th note in each scale. so for the key of F, the F scale is F, G, A, Bflat, C, D, E, F. The arpeggio is F, A, C, F. And for the C scale, the arpeggio is C, E, G, C. You would go up and down (an octave) probably in triplet form. So, low F, A, C, high F, A, C, low F. if you don't understand or need more info, send one to my inbox... i've been taking piano for over half my life so i should be able to help. i don't know the exact fingerings for oboe (i'm a sax player so they're similar), but arpeggios and scales are the same principle for every single instrument in the world. so if you need to know the arpeggio for a certain scale, make sure you know the notes in the scale and then the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 8th notes are the arpeggio. arpeggio is just a fancy word for "a few notes out of a scale" so don't be overwhelmed or anything.
Hey everyone. My world history teacher wants to go to italy for spring break (first 2 weeks of april...yes...we get 2 weeks off) and he wants only about 5 or 6 students to go with him. Well he's obviously got a long time to plan and we'll get more information later...but right now he estimated the trip (for 9 days) to be about $2,500..not too bad right? WRONG if you live in my family! we are in a horrible money situation right now and certainly cant afford it. Heck, I dont think we can afford it when spring break rolls around..so i need a way to make money..enough money to go to italy for spring break. please dont tell me to get a job because i've already considered that and no one (besides mcdonalds) will hire at 15 around here and i'm not about to work at mcdonalds...and even if i did put in for a job...there is no promise i'll get it. So how on earth am i going to make money?? I dont like the basic idea of making and selling food because there is no point in doing it in my neighborhood. So can someone PLEASE help a sister out? I recently went to Australia for 3 weeks with 40 other students (15/f). The cost was 6,000 bucks. A lot of kids did fundraisers and stuff. One was really easy, and a girl I was friends with came up with it: write letters to people asking for financial help for the trip (be sure to describe what an educational journey it will be) and say that if they donate money, you will send them a postcard. The girl had 40 postcards to mail once she got there, and she got a lot of money from people for that. You could have a raffle for something, you could sell candles, you could write businesses and places around town and see if they want to sponsor you. Try everything you can because it will be a neat experience. Have you asked your parents if they would be willing to donate even a portion of the money? Since you can't get a job, you could start doing work like mowing lawns, babysitting, petsitting... sounds boring but it will help a bit. If you have a special talent... like performing arts or something, you could see if you could put on a show or something and sell tickets. That probably sounds far-fetched, but if you play piano or something you can pull it off.

I have a Razr with Cingular. 1. No, it doesn't. It's actually easier to hold, if you're talking on the phone and doing something else at the same time. Because it's so small, I can type and talk on the phone at the same time. 2. No, but I have a silver razr. My friends have colored ones, and they haven't had any trouble. 3. No. I've dropped my phone more times than I can count and there aren't any scratches on it. 4. I guess. If you're responsible enough to keep up with it. 5. The price for a phone from Cingular is around 150 bucks. There's also a 50 dollar mail-in rebate. I don't know if T-mobile is any different. EDIT: Right :)
I just got my braces off and i have a retainer now. My orthodontist told me to wear it all the time except when im eating or brushing my teeth but i was just wondering, if i go like 4 hours without wearing it everyday, will my teeth actually shift? how many of you (with experience with retainers of course)actually wore ur retainer ALL the time?
when you first get your braces off, you need to wear it MOST of the time. if you forget to wear it at school, big whoop. just remember to wear it that night. you'll be able to tell if your teeth shift- the retainer will hurt a bit when you pop it in. after you've had your braces off for like 2-3 months, you should only have to wear it at night. i got mine off in december and i only wear my retainer like every other night. i can go 4 days without wearing it, and then i'll put it back in for like 5 minutes and my teeth will move back. you definitely don't have to wear it for the rest of your life, so don't stress out if you forget to wear it for a day because as soon as you put it back in, your teeth form to fit the retainer and they look just like they did when you got your braces off. of course, if you misplace your retainer make sure to call the orthodontist so they can replace it pronto because if you wait a week it will hurt a little when you put it in.

you can report anybody. but because you have such good feedback and obviously aren't scamming anybody, you should be okay. if they can't find any evidence that you're scamming somebody, then they'll dismiss the claim. however, if you like to sell items that don't exist or something, then they'll shut you down if they can find evidence that you've been cheating people.

it sounds like architecture for buildings, or maybe even designing things for companies like billboards and stuff (though that's way out there). commercial design at my school is mainly architecture, and it's for the kids that want to be architects. maybe it's interior design, too. if you know of anybody else taking that class, ask them about it and see if they know anything else about it.
Does anyone know how to clean in between the keys on a keyboard? Theres something in between a few keys and it sticks and its annoying. Thanks.
q-tips work for me. if it's gooey or something, like food, then dip the q-tip in water. you can always pop the keys out, but sometimes they don't always go in the right way and your keyboard is screwed up for ever.
My parents decided to let me get a 70 dollar l.l. bean rolling backpack, because I have so much books that I my back hurts if I get a regular backpack. But before I buy it, I was wondering, is a rolling backpack ok for an 8th grader, or is it like out of style and babyish? Like do alot of people have rolling backpacks? Thanks!
this is just my personal opinion, and things might be different at your school. but people hate people with rolling backpacks. our halls are crowded, and people with rolling backpacks always run over everybody else and then get pissed when we step on their backpacks. so i'd just get one of those nice jansport backpacks that has the shoulder supports, or a shoulder bag, or a messenger bag. because if you get a rolling backpack, people are going to hate you.

it depends. i think it looks better if you wait a couple of years. like, mustaches freak most girls out (most girls that i know) but i find beards attractive. like the five o'clock shadow thing. but as long as it's an actual five o'clock shadow, not just the beginnings of a beard.
i don`t know if i`m obsessive compulsive , but maybe , i always have to have like even numbers of things and like everything i do has to be like evened out , i`m really crazy about having everything even . can someone tell me if that`s kind of obsessive compulsive or am i just not normal . lol ..
i think you just have a few quirks, not necessarily OCD. when you have OCD, it like, controls your life and disrupts your daily activities. i used to count my steps in threes, and if i went up stairs and when i got to the top i landed on 2, i would take another step in place because i had to count by threes. however, that was just stupid and i didn't have OCD because i got over it five years ago. a lot of my friends are like that, but they don't have OCD.

i can't roll my tongue, and i'm in spanish I. my teacher said that if you can't roll your tongue, start working on it, but when saying things that need to be rolled just hold the "r" out longer so even if you can't roll it, the teacher can tell that you know it's supposed to be rolled. i actually read on another question about this that you can make an "lr" sound... like, for the letter "rr" in spanish, you could say "elre" instead of "erre" and if you get it right, it could sound like you're rolling your tongue (if you just absolutely cannot get it). luckily for me, most of the tests and things are written. i've only had to do one verbal test over numbers and alphabet, and the teacher was sympathetic because some people just can't roll their r's.
I'm taking a long flight in a couple weeks and I'm having trouble finding exactly what you are and are not allowed to bring on a plane. Things like knives and scisors are obvious, but they changed some things recently about liquids and gels.
Can I bring on something like deodorant (the stick kind) or toothpaste? Or if I can't bring them on, do they have those things (like little packets of toothpaste or deodorant) on the plane? I've looked on the sites, but didn't find much specifying the different things. Is there anyone here who has recently flown on a plane who would know about this?
Any help would be great! I just don't want to pack something only to have to throw it away when I get to the airport. (I'll be in airports and on planes for almost 24 hours straight)
i recently traveled to australia (30 hours of travel both ways). in my backpack, i carried ALL of my toiletries. deoderant, things like that. they let you bring toiletries, but not fingernail clippers. you would have to put those in your checked luggage. basically, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes, deodorant, soaps, shampoos, things like that are allowed. they might have those items available on the plane (they did on mine, i flew on qantas airlines). they won't make you throw away things that can't hurt anybody. like fingernail clippers, i guess i can understand, but you can't kill anybody with a stick of deoderant.

I love these :) Okay, you know how far Brent lives from the school (b). So, Inga would have to walk twice that much... and three miles more. So for Inga to get to school, it would take... 2b + 3, if b=miles. If you know the value for b, you can go ahead and plug it in to the b spot in the equation, but if you don't, then you can leave it like that because that's it in the simplest form.

i'd say it's a good outfit, as long as your school doesn't have a rule about how short your skirt can be (mine does, that's why i say that). i'd go with the first pair of shoes. my pc wouldn't load the last url with the picture of the purse, but i'd say your outfit looks great :)
why isn't it healthy to wash your hair everyday?? i do that and i dont see anything wrong with my hair. i'm just womdering
washing it daily strips your hair of its natural moistures and stuff. it makes it dry. if you have naturally dry hair, you should only wash it every other day. but if you have overly greasy hair, then go ahead and wash it every day. it just depends on what works for you. but washing it every other day is perfectly okay.
can somebody explain to me what journalism really is?? my friend said she wants to go into that when she grows up and i've never known what it meant to go into journalism.
that means like reporting for a television station or writing for a newspaper. basically like, covering news and stuff in various ways. there are different types of journalism, from like the news on cnn or nbc to simply school yearbooks that cover things that happen. if a student takes a journalism class in high school, they would be writing for the high school newspaper. so your friend probably wants to be a news reporter or write for a newspaper or something.
