Inga lives 3 miles more than twice as far from school as Brent does. If Brent lives b miles from school, then Inga lives ___ miles from school.
How do you set up an equation for that? I'm all confused.
I haven't done these in a year so I forgot..
Any websites with similar problems to this would be helpful..
uisforukelele answered Wednesday August 30 2006, 8:29 am: I love these :) Okay, you know how far Brent lives from the school (b). So, Inga would have to walk twice that much... and three miles more. So for Inga to get to school, it would take... 2b + 3, if b=miles. If you know the value for b, you can go ahead and plug it in to the b spot in the equation, but if you don't, then you can leave it like that because that's it in the simplest form.
