Anybody got any fun ideas for the yearbook...im looking for something original yet something that people will remember...and like of course...anything from picture themes...categories...sayings...anything...

i'm the yearbook editor this year, and our theme is "not your average...". the book this year is all about modern, straight lines and stuff (but it's all color). it looks professional. we have a horizontal bar running through the entire book that has unique facts about people in the school. it's basically like, we gathered quotes from people that were like, "my best friend paid me five dollars to skinny dip in my neighbors pool while they weren't home, and i did." -john doe. and then we got a picture of each person to put beside the quote. so when we look back on it in 20 years, it will be neat to see all the stuff that we DIDN'T know about our classmates. we got that idea from a yearbook workshop, actually. anyway, we can fit 6 different quotes on each 2 page layout (and our book is 80 pages). i did the math one time, and that ends up being about 450 students that get put in the yearbook, just on that bar (we don't have the pics on openings, or the individual pages). and our student population is 700 something, so that's pretty good in my opinion. another one of my favorite things to do is get tons and tons of QUOTES. for stories, captions, EVERYTHING. it makes the book so much more personal. on our layout about the first day of school and stuff, we have two quotes that are in a larger font, and they are AWESOME and really eye-catching. as for captions, we're trying to put a quote in every caption. for instance, our captions look like this: Baking brownies for the Student Council bake sale, 9th grade students John and Jessica help prepare for the annual event. The Student Council, on average, bakes 500 brownies every year for the bake sale, raising $750 to go to charity. "Put a quote here about the bake sale." -Student's Name. haha, i made that up off the top of my head. anyway, good luck with your book!

I've been questioning my gender identity(whether i am male or female)(i'm physically male, 15) I'm wondering how to tell my parents, if i decide I want a sex change.

wait a while. think about it: remember when you were 10 years old, you might have had certain views on things? do you have the same views now? probably not. so when you're 20, you may not feel the same way. wouldn't it suck if you made a brash decision when you were 15 and regretted it later? i'd give it a few years. wait until you're legally an adult, at least. because then your parents won't be able to keep you from going through with it, if you still want to. you know, if you were deadset on getting that done, i wouldn't tell your parents until you turn 18 anyway. then you'd be legally an adult and you can do whatever you want.

I'm very shy. I'm so shy that I don't even want to get up to go turn in my paper because people stare at me. I don't even raise my hand to answer questions in class because I'm scared that I will get the wrong answer and people will make fun of me. If a person is shy (like me), are they always going to be shy for their whole life or do you eventually stop being shy? If so, how?

you stop being shy once you decide, "hey, i'm going to quit being such an introvert." believe it or not, people actually don't care that much about you. i don't mean that in an ugly way at all, but people aren't staring at you, or thinking or you in a bad way just because you get up to turn your paper in. it's like, a lot of people worry about repeating their outfits so other people won't think they're style-challenged, but seriously, nobody actually cares about other people. i quit being shy once i joined the yearbook staff because i had to go take pictures of and talk to random people. that was last year, and now i'm editor of the yearbook and i basically teach a class. learn to laugh at yourself. if you do something stupid during a presentation, or say the wrong answer, it doesn't matter. nobody will remember in five minutes if you laugh at yourself. but if you get all pissed off and embarrassed, you're just hurting yourself. if i were you, i would join some clubs or something. meet some new people. hell, even just go sit with some new people at lunch. start raising your hand to answer questions, and please always turn your papers in. good luck :)

what do you wear to the homecoming? cause isnt there a football game frist and then the dace so what do you wear something formal or just like what?

wear normal clothes to the football game, and if the dance is that night, change into something formal (or perhaps even semiformal, i don't know how your school does that). if the dance is the next night, just wear something formal. don't wear nice clothes to the football game... normally only the girls that are competing for homecoming queen do that. i don't know exactly how it works at your school, but this seems about right. EDIT: you gave me a 4 because i completely answered your question for two different scenarios, seeing as you didn't give much information? how in the hell does that make sense?

okay this really doesnt have to do with christmas im just curious to know.. okay, how much do your parents , i mean "santa" spent on your for christmas? like when you wake up christmas morning what kind of stuff do they give you and how much do they spent? because im wondering if my parents spend a lot of money on me for christmas or just the right amount. thanks bunches, i know random question but im random!

well, my family may be a bit different. my parents normally spend more on me for christmas (to put it extremely bluntly, we have money) than my friends' parents spend on them. every year i get some kind of musical stuff (i'm a musician) and then just some other stuff. last year, i got a pro stage piano and some other stuff (like DVDs or CDs and clothes and stuff), so that would have been around 4,000 or 4,500. however, this is probably WAY out of proportion, i think my friends parents probably spend half that much, but i'm not really sure. the year before that i think the amount would have been around 2,000. this past year, my big gift was the piano so that's why it was a lot.

What did he mean by old enough to know better? Thanks in advance!

it's illegal for an adult (18) and a minor (15) to be involved romantically. he doesn't want to get thrown in jail.

okk, i'm in 8th grade, but when i go to highshool next year, i wanna be apart of something like a club. im super girly. soo.. sports, i dont think so. i did the whole cheerleading thing & dance.. so drop that. i was good at it, but i didnt wanna go to all those practices. aha but like, what else can i do???

student council, fccla, maybe some other clubs at your school? i don't know what your high school has to offer really... i'm in this production where you learn to swing dance and perform in like february. there will be posters and stuff at the high school probably, just walk around and look at them. there's always debate, or band or choir, or yearbook staff, or something like that. spanish club? i don't really know what your interests are, but i'm in marching band, jazz band, fccla, the swing dance thing, i'm the editor of the yearbook, and i have a job outside of school. if you don't want to go to a lot of practices, that's going to be tough choosing a club that's active. i would say try out for drill team or something, but you have to work at that, and you have to work for band and yearbook too. ask your friends what they plan on doing, and see if you can talk to your counselor about what you should involve yourself in.

I am on the school newspaper, but i have no idea what to write about, does anyone have any good ideas or top stories they think would be good?
thanks =]

have you ever read the dave barry columns in the newspaper? if not, then that's okay too, but if you have, then you know what type of style is cool to use. i saw one article in my high school newspaper, and it really caught my attention... at my school, if they catch you with cell phones, it gets taken up and you have to pay 15 bucks to get it back. so a guy at my school wrote a column about what exactly that 15 bucks goes to and stuff. it was really interesting because he said that in total, the student body had 2000 dollars worth of fines. and he said that the cell phone fines went into the student activity fund, and even though it's for student activity, some of that money is used to repair the school. it was pretty cool. so basically, if your school has some random off-the-wall rule (like my school has the cell phone thing, and if you get caught with gum you get automatic after school detention) then write about that. because that's what people like to read because it pertains to them. good luck :)

What are some songs dealing with love, death, corruption of society, gambling or other thses like that?
The songs can also deal with a girl feeling lost, a girl only wanting a guy because he's rich, two people fianlly realizing they are meant for each other but its too late, or anything along those lines.

one of my favorites is "we didn't start the fire" by billy joel. also, anything off pink floyd's "dark side of the moon" album would be good because the theme of that album is all the things that lead up to a person going insane... love, death, guilt, money, time, etc. one of my favorites doesn't have any words- "the great gig in the sky."

heyyy on myspace how do you skip a space?? like on the about me section?

instead of
just like
this...

how do i

skip a space

like this??

the moron below me is wrong. it is , which means paragraph break. means line break. is the same as pressing enter twice in like microsoft word, and is the same as pressing enter once. you could also type in TWICE to get the same effect, i think, though is probably what you're looking for.

Hi,
Well theirs this girl in my school named Rachel and she's really hot! She and I are becoming best friends and share the same interest. Everybody in school says I should ask her out for the coming back to school dance but Im to nervouse that when i ask her out she'll won't feel the same way. I try flirting with her but she really doesn't seem to notice. What can I do to get her to go with the dance with me and tell if she likes me back before I ask her. Thanks for the advice.

you could always a.) get your friends to ask her if she likes you, b.) get her friends to ask her if she likes you, or c.) get your friends to ask her friends if she likes you. it's not wrong to try to get information from somebody else. you could always just ask her. truthfully, as long as she doesn't like anybody else right now, she'll probably say yes. girls like it when boys tell them how they feel, so go for it. a lot of the times, if someone has a best friend of the opposite sex, they start to like them but hide it because they don't want to ruin the friendship, and a lot of the times the other person does the EXACT same thing (i know, i've done it before). so i think it's better to ask her now and don't wait. good luck :)

"you can be my humming bird and i'll be your polar bear and we'll love each other dearly and live with out a care."

does anybody know what that is?
i think it's a song, i'm not sure though.
i've heard it somewhere and i liked it alot.
i've tried Googling, but nothing really came up.
a bunch of myspaces with those "lyrics" or sentences came up, but that's it. help?

i tried googling it too. it sounds like the lyrics could be from a damien rice song. now that i think about it, it could just be a poem or something. i'd be willing to bet it's part of a poem since nothing came up when i googled it.

Does anyone know this song. of pink floyd's? (it's not one of these days either). it has like a bass at the beginning and it just repeats and repeats. its like dum du dum du dum..kinda sounds like a turtle walking..

i'm thinking it's on the dark side of the moon album. it's for sure not brain damage or money because brain damage starts with a guitar riff and money starts with cash register noises. listen through the album and see. the album is kind of seamless so it might be hard to tell where one song starts and ends. anyway, good album.

Hi, I've answered some questions and read the other people's advice regarding high school. The thing that shocked me was to see SO many of the people hating HS

I'd actually intended to migrate to the states and attend high school. But anyways, I'm 18 now. I'm just really curious to know bout high school culture and all. I've really enjoyed my secondary school (we call it secondary school in our country)and I really can't picture what is so bad bout high school.Besides, hollywood kinda portrayed HS in a very fun and un-stressful way. So maybe you guys can tell me what's wrong? Perhaps I could give better advice after understanding how HS is like.

Thanks

Personally, I think high school is really fun. As long as you have friends and join clubs and stuff, it's really fun because you get to meet a lot of new people and experience a lot of new things. Some people think high school sucks because they can't keep up with it and make really bad grades, but I'm in all advanced classes and in the marching band and it's really fun. I'm also editor of the yearbook staff, which goes to show that there are a lot of choices in high school. In middle school, your choices are made for you, but once you hit high school you can go a thousand different directions. It just depends on what you want. If you enter high school thinking, "Oh, this is going to suck," then it probably will. It just depends on your outlook. Hollywood doesn't portray high school very realistically, but the funness is still there. There aren't really huge cliques or whatever, I mean certain people hang out with each other, but the cliques don't fight with each other. We just ignore each other. It's just the way it works. Hope I gave you enough info.

I've been kind of bummed lately. I am 14, I have never kissed a girl, or even had a girlfriend.

I have plenty of friends (enough to make me happy), and I have no problem talking to girls as friends, but not other than that.

I have had plenty of girls that "liked" me, but most of the time it didn't work out (for random reasons), or they just didn't seem right for me.

Unlike a lot of guys, I am not just in it for sex (that would be great, but it's not my first priority). I just want someone to be with.

no, not at all! some of my guy friends are in the same boat as you. and truthfully, girls are turned off by guys that have already dated like 20 girls and broken up with them. it's the whole sloppy seconds thing. so don't feel like you're behind your friends or anything. i'm 15/f, and i've never had a boyfriend. want to know why? i'm too focused on other things to seriously give thought to boys right now. besides that, none of the boys i know are right for me. wait a while, and don't just ask some girl out because you feel like you have to have a girlfriend. guys like that SUCK because you never know if they really like you, or if you're just the rebound. so don't be bummed about it at all. oh, and another tip: girls love gentlemen, so if you find a girl you really like, open the door for her :) good luck.

I'm 13/f and I'm in 8th grade. I've been in band since 6th grade and I enjoy it (but sometimes i really don't like it). I want to be in band in high school yet I don't because it can be really stressful sometimes with all the competitions and stuff. I also don't want to do marching band but they make you and being in high school band is very time consuming...but I still like playing. Also, my best friends who were in band this year are quitting, so I won't know anyone. My question is...should I continue playing since I enjoy it or quit?

hmm, well, if you don't want to do marching band, i think you're out of luck. do you know for a fact that you won't like it? i'm a freshman and i thought it would suck this year, but i've actually made a lot of new friends and it's kind of fun, even though i'm in a military band. if you just like to play and won't want to participate in band activities, i would quit and just continue playing (maybe even take private lessons). what do you play?

What color bra is the least see through on tight/white shirts? Thanks!!

nude would probably be the best. it depends on how thick/thin the shirt is. if it's thicker, you could go with a white or cream colored bra. but for thin shirts, white will probably stand out more so i'd go for nude.

14/m

this week has completely bombed. i have missed 4 assignments, missed 1 soccer game, had to sit one practice, and friday isnt looking much better either. is there any way i can get back with it? any suggestions? because the way its looking is that my starting spot in soccer is shot, my goal for honer roll is blown and omg this is going to get worse before its going to get better...so any suggestions?

you sound stressed. take this weekend off. don't do anything that requires much thought, but get your assignments done and turned in for a late grade. as for soccer, show up for practice early, don't complain, and always be willing to work hard. your coach will see that you have perseverance and will probably put you back in your starting spot. if you have morning tutorials at your school, or if you can stay late or go in early to finish assignments, DO IT. ask every teacher about extra credit, and turn in stuff early. if you start getting it together now, then things will get better quickly. and to bring up your grades, call your friends the night before stuff is due and check your answers! it may be "cheating," but it's technically just helping each other out. don't be afraid to ask questions, either. take some time out of your schedule to just chill out and like watch tv or something. that will help relax you. i would suggest getting homework done as soon as you get it. like, as soon as you get home from school, get every thing done, and then you have the rest of the night to do whatever you want. it may sound like a dumb idea, but it's a tremendous weight off of your shoulders. good luck.

I am in love with this guy. And he feels the same toward me. However, he is better than me in every way. He's smarter, better-looking, and so on. This makes me feel inferior and insecure. I feel I'm not worthy of his love. I feel extremely small when I'm with him. I wish I could be as intelligent as him in order to be more worthy of his love. I hate myself. I hate my shortcomings. My biggest fear is that he would abandon me because of the fact I'm not as great as him. As a genius, he has every reason to despise me. He outshines me in every area. Whenever I detect a tiny sign that he might ignore/hate me, I feel like dying. Because of these, I'm not myself when I'm with this guy. I care TOO much about how he thinks of me. I appear very nervous, hypersensitive, and stupid. And this makes things worse. I am over-conscious about every word I say to him. I fear something I say would sound silly according to him and that he would despise me. I feel I'm just a silly little girl in his eyes. I know in fact he loves me. But I can never enjoy his love because of my feeling of inadequacy. I feel I need to be a much, much better person to deserve his love. I always try to be smarter so as to be "equal" to him, yet only end up making a fool of myself. This drives me crazy. What can I do now?

he loves you for who you are. you don't have to pretend to be anybody else, or try to be equal when you're around him because i don't think he cares if you two are equal or not. and honestly, i think you're selling yourself short. he may be better at some things than you, but that doesn't mean that you should feel inferior to him. and think about it: what if he's thinking the exact same thing? what if he's thinking, "she thinks i'm a brainiac and a supermodel, i need to be more like myself..." i mean, if he loves you as much as he says he does he won't abandon you and he won't think you're just a silly little girl. i think that you need to relax a little bit. it seems like you're a little overwhelmed, and i think you should stop trying to be as smart as you think he is, and just be what you are.

ok what is all this da vinci code stuff? whats all the controversy and discussions about? thanks in advance

a lot of people say it contradicts the bible. however, it is fiction, so it doesn't matter if it contradicts the bible because it's not real. it's just a good story, and i'm sure some of it's made up, and some of it is based on fact. if you want to, read the book... i would really recommend it because it's one of my favorites. then you can form your own opinion about it. personally, i think that it is an awesome story, whether it's real or not. but the thing is, mankind will probably never figure out if it's real or not because it's about the holy grail and mary magdalene and stuff (and how da vinci fits in with that). it's pretty awesome, and it's got a lot of history in it (which probably sounds boring but it's a great book, i think). anyway, if i were you, i would read it, but if you don't read it then don't go ahead and label it good/bad... a lot of my friends haven't read it and before the movie came out they were like, "ew, the da vinci code, that's sacrilegious" or whatever, but then they saw the movie and were like, "omg such a great movie." so think what you will, but just so you know- a lot of people (namely the catholic church) got mad about all the references to stuff (basically they thought it made the catholic church look bad)... but it's just a story, so that doesn't mean it's true.
