Is there a free converter that converts QUICKTIME videos to AVI??? And one that doesn't have a "tag" showing up, like something that covers the video saying "FREE TRIAL VERSION" or something! ANd also one that's free version and is not a free trial and available for download on the internet!
Thanks in advance!
Maggie
Mediacoder:
http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/
You change the format on the "video" tab in the middle. It will adjust all other settings automatically. AVI is a container format, so you'll have to also select a codec; DV-video is the most commonly used.

My Kitten seems to like wet food better than dry food. My question is how can you get a cat to eat dry food. Because right now with our budget, we cant afford wet food. x.x Any advice?
Don't give it cow milk. Cats are lactose intolerant; they get sick if you give them cow milk.
I would just not give it anything but dry food and hope it gets hungry enough to eat it.

Okay, I am having troubles with this software, and their tech support contacted me in response to my problem, sending me an attached .inf file. They said to "place the attached .inf file* in the extracted files directory".
The problem is, where is the extracted files directory located on your computer?
They worded that strangely. They want you to put it in the application's folder in C:\program files. So if the program is named XYZ, you open C:\program files\XYZ and drag the ini file into it. Sometimes they use the company's name instead of the program's name.
They called it the "extracted files directory" because an installation file (or install CD) is basically just an archive file. It's a zip, cab, 7z, or rar file that gives you choices and extracts the included files to a directory, usually %systemroot%\program files\ by default.

A lot of people think I'm shy and label me as a that.
However, I'm really just quiet rather than shy-- and I'm definitely not shy at home or when I feel strongly about something.
I know this other person (a guy) who is also considered shy-- and he acts super nice, NEVER anything but happy.
Basically, I'm just wondering, if you are "shy", do you act crazy and outspoken when you're comfortable?
Not always, it depends on the person.

I've been looking for a laptop skin for my Toshiba. It's a standard 15.4" laptop.
I have looked in stores like staples, target, and circuit city. They did have a few skins for sale, but I did not like any of the designs. I have been searching the web for laptop skins, but the only ones I can find are over $20. Does anyone know any web sites or stores that I can get a laptop skin for cheaper than that?
Do you think I would be better off just covering my laptop with something else? If so, suggestions?
Thank you!
I found a bunch on Google, surely you can find one you like.

My cat is a few years old now and in the past few weeks shes started to develop scabs on her ears and her nose area...and it seems like shes only doing so because she is scratching. My cat has always been a little obsessive about cleaning herself, I have other cats that aren't nearly as persistent as she is so maybe that has something to do with it?
My mom doesn't have the money to take her to the vet right now(which is the reason why we've been putting it off) and it doesn't seem like anything serious so we aren't TOO worried...I'm just a bit concerned so I've decided that until we have the money for a vet visit I'll do some home doctor work. I was going to cut her nails but she isn't the sort of cat who will let you just do that haha so I'm not sure what else I could do. She doesn't even seem that bothered by it...
I don't think its fleas because if it were there would be other areas in bad condition, and no symptoms really point to ear mites or mange or anything like that...so what could it be? What can I do to help(in the mean time)? Any over the counter cat meds that might help? A way to calm her down so I can cut her nails?! XD
Thanks in advance.

okay, well my sister has scabbies, since last year. and she didn't find that out till later. and then i'm sooo mad at her, because she said it wasn't contagious, until later on i found out it was. and i've been sleeping with her for 2 months, because she was scared to sleep alone. i don't think i had it till LATER LATER on. or i'm no sure if i even have it. but i'm seeing the doctor sometime this week. i'm really scared that i might have it, or it could get really really bad. because i'm scratching and stuff like that, and i'm getting little bumps. or is that just allergies? after i found out, it was contagious. i didn't want to get near my sister after.. and i'm sleeping alone now and stuff, so is it really just allergies from what you're reading right now? is there something you can use from making you to stop scratching or something? anything? HELP!! i'm stressed out over school & know skin problems. T.T
Yes, you probably have it. It's incredibly infectious, your entire family probably has it. All you can do is see a doctor.

Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.
Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence.
Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.
A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you.
Topic of your choice.
any advice?? nothing really exciting has happened to me.
Then make stuff up, that's what everyone else does.

does anyone know where i can find a backing track with no vocals on it to the songs "one in a million" and "i got nerve" by hannah montana? i've checked all around in iTunes and I couldn't find it. thank you so muchhhh. :)
xo
crissyboo
Here's a guide on removing vocals:

If you bought the song on itunes, it's probably DRM'd, so you might have to download a pirated version from limewire or bittorrent.

when i go onto someone's profile and try to get the source, the box never shows up. i don't think it's my computer because it works on every other website, does anyone know why this is or how i can fix it?
That is truly strange. In IE click "page", "view source" instead of right clicking. If that doesn't work, go to "page", "save page as". Then make sure you use the second dropdown to save as "complete HTML". After you save the file, right click it and "open with..." notepad.
If that doesn't work, download this:
http://www.interlog.com/~tcharron/wgetwin-1_5_3_1-binary.zip
Extract the files inside of it to C:\windows\system32 (replace C with your windows drive letter). Now go to start, run. Type this:
cmd
then at the command prompt(C:>) type this:
cd desktop
then type this (replace URL with the myspace URL, include http but not www.):
wget URL
There will then be an html file on your desktop, open it with your text editor.

what a a good running computer speed, for example the speeds they hav at schools. i'm thinking about buying a computer but how fast of a harddrive or processer should i get?
You want a computer with at least:
-1.8GHz CPU
-512MB RAM for windows XP, 1GB for vista
-50GB storage
-1x (or higher) DVD player, or DVD burner, if you ever think you'll want to write to a CD
-You do not need a video card
-You do not need a sound card
This would probably be a more comfortable configuration:
-2.2GHz CPU
-1GB RAM
-100GB storage
-3x DVD burner
-Cheap video card with 64-128MB video RAM.
-No sound card
Ignore all other numbers they give you, they don't matter for what you want.
RAM is completely different than storage. RAM greatly affects your speed, storage doesn't affect it at all. 1GB holds about one medium-quality 2-hour movie, or 250 average length songs. Windows takes up about 10GB.
If you have a choice of operating systems, you probably want Windows XP home. Windows media center and Windows XP pro are also acceptable. I recommend against Windows Vista at this time. You should absolutely not get an older version of Windows. There are other non-Windows operating systems available, and while they're very good for certain people, they're not good for you.
Gigabyte(GB) is pronounced gig-a-bite, with a hard g and soft a. Megabyte(MB) is pronounced meh-gah-bite, with "mega" pronounced like it is in Megatron. Gigahertz(GHz) is pronounced gig-a-hurts, with a hard g and soft a, and "hertz" sounds exactly like "hurts" in "ow, it hurts".
Contact me for more help. I could probably even walk you through building a decent computer for less than $300.

Does anyone know of a safe place where you can download free music? I had Limewire but in the past few weeks, Ive heard it has been monitered by the government. Thanks a lot!!
Limewire isn't being monitored by the government per se. The way the network is constructed makes it impossible for it to be fully monitored by anyone. It is being monitored by a limited extent by copyright holders like the MPAA and RIAA (they aren't part of the government). If they find that you're downloading or sharing (mostly sharing) material that they own, they will see your IP address, your address on the internet. From that they can determine your internet service provider and your rough location, but not your name or RL address. So, for them to get that information they send a letter to your ISP, the only one in the world who can rat you out. Some ISPs will refuse to give your information without a subpeona; the copyright holder usually gives up after that. Some ISPs will send you a letter, warning you that they'll give your info to them if you continue downloading/sharing. Some will just give your info out to anyone who asks. After the copyright holder gets your info, they'll contact you and offer to settle out of court for about $20,000; you can choose to do that or go to court. About half of those who go to court lose and have to pay around $250,000.
Limewire pro does not give you a license to download content from limewire's network. It's still illegal, and you're just as likely to get caught; more so, since you were stupid enough to pay for free software.
Here's my P2P guide, for programs similar to limewire:
http://www.advicenators.com/talkaboutmetopic.php?t=484&userboard_id=38985
Networks near the bottom of the list are in general safer(less malware and less chance of getting caught) than ones on the top. The **AA monitors edonkey, fasttrack, G1(limewire), and bittorrent the most. The way the bittorrent network is built makes it more difficult for them, though, so you might be safest using that one.
You can safely download free music from these sites:

http://search.theymos.com (search and then click "music search")

Every time I swallow anything, even liquids I get a pain at the bottom of my throat where it connects to my chest. i know its not heartburn because it happens right when i swallow. also, after i finish eating, the back of that same part of throat feels very cold, almost like i just ate a peppermint. it just started yesterday but its kind of scaring me. does anyone know what this migth be???????//
If the pain is below your neck, it's a digestive issue and you should see a doctor. If it's above or in your neck, it's just a sore throat.

Ok, after I graduate highschool, I really want to join a group that travels around the world and helps out other countries. I was thinking about joining the Peace Corp, but I have one MAJOR issue- it's government run, and I don't trust our government. Are there any similar groups that are available? Thanks for any information you can give me. =]

I was considering that as well, and I share your concern.
The UN and The International Committee of the Red Cross do similar things:

I'm not aware of any others; if you find any I'd be interested to know about them.

Before I ask this question, I just wanna say I don't want any answers that say 'go look in your textbook', or 'wiki it'. Because every time I ask a random science/history/etc-related question, that's half the answers i get D:< But believe it or not, people who randomly question the world around them actually exist. THEY DO.
Well, anyway. I was just wondering - why and how do planets/stars/ move? I mean, I know they move around the sun and whatnot because of gravity, but that just keeps them in orbit...doesn't it?
Massive objects bend space toward them, creating what's called a "gravity pool". Other objects spin inside of the gravity pool. Take a look at this picture:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/22/Spacetime_curvature.png
Image that space is a the surface of a big trampoline. The sun is a bowling ball at the center. The planets are marbles. If you roll the marbles parallel to the bowling ball, they will spin around it within the depression created by the bowling ball. On earth, gravity forces the marbles toward the bowling ball, but in space they maintain the parallel motion.
All gravity works that way. Like the planets, the sun is orbiting the center of the galaxy, and the galaxy is orbiting other galaxies in our cluster. Our cluster is probably orbiting other clusters.
This was explained in Einstein's general theory of relativity.

I was walking in the mall today, and these salespeople for T-Mobile stopped me and tried to convince me to switch to their company, even going as far as to say that T-Mo now has a phone similar to Cingular's iPhone. Is this true? And if so, what make and model is it?
(I tried going on the t-mobile website but couldn't find any information on it)
There are a number of phones similar to the iPhone, the LG Prada for example. Most of these phones work on any carrier, and T-mobile could offer them if they wanted. If you want to use the iPhone with another carrier, I've heard it's actually pretty easy to unlock it.

Is there anything like paint or Photofiltre, Photoshop or whatever to make graphics on?
Or are there any downloadable products FOR Macs?
Thanks a TON.
The GIMP:
http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/
I'm not too familiar with Macs, but I believe this is the proper download page:
http://gimp-app.sourceforge.net/
GIMP for Mac requires the X Window System (this allows Macs to run some linux/unix programs), so you have to have OS X and install the x11.app component. If you have a previous version, you're out of luck; I'm not aware of any other free Mac photoshop-like programs.

None of my zip files on my computer will open. They say invalid menu handle. I have tried doing windows updater and tried converting them to a different file type but it still won't work!! help!!
Invalid menu handle usually means the file is corrupted. It downloaded half way, the floppy was exposed to magnets, or the CD was scratched. Try to download it again, but choose the "save" option instead of the "open" option. If it still doesn't work, try opening it with 7-zip:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z442.exe
And if that doesn't work, it's the server's fault and you should contact whoever is distributing the file. There's nothing more you can do.
