It's good to keep your outfit casual and comfortable, but still a little different from what you would wear to school.

Don't worry, it's totally normal to be scared about dancing with guys. If a boy asks you and you want to dance with him, take a deep breath and ask yourself what's the worst that could happen. And if a guy wants to dance with you in a way that you aren't comfortable with, it's okay to tell him no and walk away.

So i really like this boy i met at my new highschool this year, but i dont know if he likes me back. we talk often, since hes in four of my six classes, and lately we've been walking kind of with eachother to our next class. I would say he definitely likes you as a friend, but I can't tell you if he is romantically interested in you. I'm doing a project on rules in schools, the good and the bad. However, I need rules that AREN'T just at my schoo or in my state.
I was wondering, what kind of dress codes do you guys have at your schools? Length of shorts, tank tops, ripped jeans?
Also, what are the rules on PDA? We get suspension if we're caught hugging.

(I'm at a private kindergarten through 8th school in California, by the way, if that affects your research)
-No spaghetti straps or tube tops
-No midriff baring tops
-No hats, hoods, or sunglasses indoors; no bandanas
-No ripped jeans
-Shorts/skirts have to be at least halfway to your knee
-No clogs, open-toed shoes, or heels

PDA:
We don't have very specific rules about PDA, but if people are kissing (on the lips) a teacher will tell them not to. They'd probably just get a warning the first few times, but if they keep doing it they'd probably call the parents.
Hugging and kissing on the cheek are fine, unless two people are groping each other or something.

Other Rules:
We can't have iPods, cellphones, or similar electronics at school AT ALL, even at lunch. That pretty much sucks. Other than that, we don't have any out-of-the-ordinary rules.

13/f/8th grade. i have a school uniform, and id like to spice it up a little bit. heres my uniform restrictions:
shirt: polo shirts (red, white, blue, black, grey, green, mahogany)
pants: khaki colored or dark blue
shorts: khaki colored
skirt:khaki colored
i usually wear shorts or pants, but any advice is good. i dont want to look like every other kid in my school. help me be different!

Here are some other easy, funky, and simple ways to add a little flair:
-Wear necklaces! I especially like fake pearls and mardi gras beads.
-Headbands (cloth or plastic) can also be really cute.
-If you're allowed, wear a funky patterned long-sleeved top underneath your polo shirt.
-When you wear a skirt, try wearing tights or leggings underneath. They're great not only because they're super trendy right now, but also they keep your legs warm and no one can see your underwear :) They have fabulous tights at www.lookfromlondon.com and really cute leggings at www.urbanoutffiters.com, but you might be able to find leggings in your mom/aunt/other relative's closet.

I'm am sooooo incredibly self conscious. i am 13 in the 8th grade, and im only a 34A. im reallly self concious becuase i think no guys will like me becuase im only a 34A! any advice?
Don't worry about it. Ot's true that guys prefer big boobs, but the guys who won't go out with a girl because she's flat-chested? They're assholes anyway. Seriously. Anyways, the girls in my grade (and I'm in 8th, like you) who are the most popular with the guys are mostly A and B cups.
If you're still self-concious, try to focus on what features of yourself you find beautiful. Make a list, and make an effort to wear clothes and make-up that emphasize those features. If you have pretty eyes, wear eyeshadow that makes your eyes pop. If you have really toned arms/legs, wear tank-tops/capris. And always carry yourself like you're the hottest girl in the room; don't be cocky, but if YOU believe that you're gorgeous, so will everyone else.

For your speech:
-Mention that you will represent the voices of all the middle school, not just you and your friends.
-Cover all the main points, but don't talk for too long. Don't let people get bored.
-I'm not sure what student government does specifically at your school, but talk about specific things you'll do as president. For example, if the president would plan the dances, you can talk about getting good DJ's.
For the rest of your campaign:
-Make posters. They should all be colorful, have your name (really big), your picture, what you're running for, and preferably and catchy or funny slogan. The slogan can be anything from "Got [your name here]?" to "Vote for me! I don't jaywalk!"
-If you can, take blank white sticky labels and write "Vote For [Your Name] For President!" on them. Then pass them out to your friends and have them wear them. My friend did that and almost everyone in my grade was wearing them.
-MAKE COOKIES. Seriously. I ran for student government last year, made cookies, and won. Coincidince? I think not.
-Ask people's opinions. I'm running for Social Chair this year, so I went up to everyone in my class one day at lunch and asked people what they would change about the school dances. I wrote all the answers down and actually got some really good information, AND it showed people that I cared about what they thought.

hi, ok i live in britain, and was just wandering if the USA is really like what we see on tv shows or movies. the whole nice weather, youthful fun thing? like the OC and stuff like grease etc. because here in the UK there is virtually minimal youthful fun or whatever you want to call it. thanks in advance.
I don't think the USA is correctly portrayed on the O.C. There are definitely places like that in the country, but not everywhere. The weather thing really, really varies; in many places, they get snow in the winter, and in others, it's sunny all year round. As for youthful fun, I really doubt it's any different from the UK. I think they just like to put people like that on T.V. because it makes for good entertainment, not because every American teen is like that.

My school has a huge talent show every year and i need some help thinking of a one man act. It needs to be 2-3 minutes long and stupid/funny... Any idea is a good idea... The dumber the better...
-Write a rap. Something really, really stupid.
-Better yet, if you're white or asian, you could sing "Ridin'" by Chamillionare.
-Sing the Super Mario Brothers theme song, over and over again.
-Sing the Mexican Hat Dance. While dancing.
-Do interpretive dance to heavy metal.
-Do the macarena/the hokey pokey.

I am in 10th grade, and last year i switched into Private school for High school...i'd gone to public school my whole life. It's an all girls private school...which, i know, sucks...but its a reallllly good school. I still see all of my friends from my old school...just not during the week. In fact i hang out with them, more than the people from my school. The thing is that recently, when i am hanging out with my [public school] friends, or at the football games i have been reallly regretting leaving. I love my private school and it is a really good school, but i cant help but wish that i was back in public schools with all of my friends...i can be really hyper and really fun with all of my public school friends and i am pretty quiet in my private school...b/c i dont really know them as well.

I think you should stick to your school. Getting to go to a private school is a really great oppurtunity that many kids don't have, so you should by all means stick to your school.
I've never changed schools, but some of my friends have, and from what I can tell, it's really difficult to make the transition. But I think you should put a lot of effort into making new friends at your school. Try to be friendly. You can start small, like by complimenting a girl on her hair or asking a classmate how her weekend was. Some girls might be mean, but if you just keep trying to find a friend, you'll eventually discover someone really cool. If you go back to public school, you may miss out on the chance to make really good new friends :)
