It's good to keep your outfit casual and comfortable, but still a little different from what you would wear to school.

For a skirt, you could wear a denim mini (this one is cute: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)) , something flowy (like this: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)), or something form-fitting (like this: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)).

If you go with a the denim mini or something else casual, your top should be dressier. I adore this: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) and this: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location).

If your skirt is a little fancier, try a cute graphic tee like [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) or [Link](Mouse over link to see full location).

If your outfit still doesn't pop, you can add a scarf or a belt ([Link](Mouse over link to see full location) or [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)) to give your look some flair.

Do not make the mistake of wearing shoes you can't dance in because they're cute. My friend wore high-heels to a dance once, and ending up dancing barefoot most of the time. I recommend sneakers (you cannot go wrong with vans: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)), skimmers ([Link](Mouse over link to see full location)), or ballet flats ([Link](Mouse over link to see full location)).

For your make-up, try dramatic eyes and natural lips. Lots of mascara!!! And bring a purse (this one is awesome: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)) and put in your mascara and lipstick/gloss for emergency touch-ups.

You could wear your hair in a high ponytail with sidebangs, or down and wavy. Dress it up with a headband if you want :)

**********

About the nervousness:
Don't worry, it's totally normal to be scared about dancing with guys. If a boy asks you and you want to dance with him, take a deep breath and ask yourself what's the worst that could happen. And remember, if you're feeling panicked, think of how scary it must have been for the guy to ask you. He might be jst as nervous as you are, if not more.

And if a guy wants to dance with you in a way that you aren't comfortable with, it's okay to tell him no and walk away.

*******

I hope I helped! Have fun at your dance!

Well since you're going to wear a skirt, as do most girls do at the dances, just wear a cute tank top or a ( i call them beaters ) these things:

Haha, and then maybe you could wear also a cute jacket over it, too!

I wouldn't really want to wear a dress unless it's going to be a formal dance cause like I said, most girls just dress in a skirt and a t-shirt or cami top if it's just a regular kind of school dance.

As for the dancing, it's perfectly fine! Slow dancing is a piece of cake. All you have to do is just put your arms around his shoulders and then sway back and forth a little, haha. As for fast dancing, since kids now-a-days I wouldn't techincally call it dancing though, just sit there and shake their butt, basically. What I do mostly is just sort of stand there and sway back and forth to with the music, because most people at dances tend to start there and talk anyways, even while they're dancing, so I don't go all over the place dancing, haha.

I hope I helped.
