Okay, my room has been essentially the same way since 6th grade, and I'm gonna be a senior in the fall. I can't paint or wallpaper my room because my mom's allergic to all the paints and all the wallpaper glues. I also have a bit of a budget problem. My dad's unemployed and my mom can't work because of her allergies. I just can't seem to get a job because there's nothing around here that's hiring.
Anyone have any ideas as to what I could do to this place? My bed has to be against an outer wall...if it isn't, my dad's snoring, like, shakes the bed.
(Laugh if you want; it's funny, but it's also true. It sucks.)

make something. I'd go out in the garage, grab some old stuff that nobody wants and make something abstract. Go to flea markets and get some old bottles or cool mirrors- you can find a LOT of stuff that's really cool there and it's always cheap, you just have to get out there early. If you have some hooks, (this is something I've always wanted to do) space them out across your ceiling and drape Christmas tree lights across. It makes a really nice glow when you turn the lights off.

It depends entirely on your style. If you want something more minimalist, go for a really crisp white, although white usually looks best with the furniture matching it (it has a clean, open feel to it when you do that). If you want something really elegant, go for a deep purple, red, or green. If you want things to feel open but don't want white, go for a yellow. I always go for really vibrant colors and I like to have more than one in a room (my cousin and I can talk designing and paint stuff all day long) but I would go towards burnt oranges and reds with a really funky accent to something. Like if you have windows that are inset (I live in a basement so all of mine are) then paint the inside walls around the window a deep blue. You could also check out some really cool painting techniques like sponging, etc. It's all at hardware stores like Home Depot..places like that.

ok, i have a pretty big room but u cant tell bcuz i have this HUGE dresser that takes up a whole wall and a huge queen sized bed that takes up a lot of space 2...and i want to get a smaller bed but my parents wont let me...i have posters all over my wall and i never wanna take them down, but what are some good ideas that i could use 2 make my room seem bigger? Put a long mirror on your door. There's a certain kind of molding that you can get at a hardware store (it creates the look of window panes) and you glue that to the mirror. It'll make it look like a French Door and give the illusion of space. Since your parents probably won't let you get rid of the dresser either, you could try switching the wall paint. If you choose ligter colors, it makes a room feel bigger. Also, if you have one base color for the walls, get a slightly lighter shade of that and use it on the ceiling and trim, etc. That'll make the ceiling feel like it's higher and the walls sort of keep on going.

Why do people who don't know shit about music insist on "answering" some of these questions, when they have absolutely nothing to offer?
I mean, if I were to ask the best way to resolve a chord progression, there would be at least 4 people who would answer by saying that they have no clue. Why? Why do these people feel compelled to answer on subjects they don't know jack-shit about?
p.s. - if you don't play guitar, don't answer guitar questions. If you don't play music, don't answer questions about how to play something or about music theory.

Yeah I ask that question every time I get on here. You make complete sense dude, I have no idea what chord progression is (I could ask my dad and find out but...nah) so I wouldn't answer that question. However, I've played piano, flute, clarinet, and tried guitar so I can answer a few from past experiences. And to all those who say "chill out, advicenators is just for fun, people just like to answer stuff for fun"- DON'T. It's not helpful, it makes you look like a moron for coming on someone's page just to say you don't know, and furthermore, it's not just for fun, it's to help someone. So at least answer the ones you know for sure, don't just answer everything just for the sake of answering. It makes you look like you just like to see your own typing.

Well, if you want to rock, go electric. See if you can rent one, because you might get tired of it and stop wanting to play guitar- renting lets you give it back. Go to a local guitar store, usually those guys are really helpful and know what they're talking about. They'll help you find a guitar that's the right size for your hands, etc. All guitars are going to hurt your fingers for a while, but you'll get callouses and then it won't matter anymore.

probably because they have nothing else to do. People lacking something to do seem to turn to people in the media for direction. It's weird like that. Why else do you see people trying to be Britney Spears at age 11? I kind of think that they're just bored. Or they see something "rebelious" in those bands that makes them feel somewhat liberated. I did, but then again I used them as a stepping stone. Most people don't do that. See, if you read the thank you's in there from those bands to other bands and you check out those other bands, you open up to a whole different world of MUCH BETTER MUSIC. You'll end up putting your GC album on the shelf and you'll quit trying to be "punk" and start being you. So it's nice to find really good music, but there aren't "fag" bands, just bands who might not be as good as others. At least they try...

Try Badly Drawn Boy, Ben Folds (he's GREAT live), Rufus Wainwright is the bomb, Silverchair, Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, The White Stripes, Three Days Grace, umm if you want something more hardcore than some of those, go for Mudvayne, Norma Jean for screamo also known as Luti-Kriss (not the rapper trust me), Metallica is ALWAYS good, the Misfits, Greenday, Fugazi is always a good choice, Fruit Bats, Cursive, Brand New, The Beatsteaks and Division of Laura Lee are good too, Air, AFI, and Murderdolls. Finch is good, as is Slipknot...if you're into them.

I hate my frucking friends so much they r such assholes they all go 2 north n i go 2 central but we always hung out ever since elementry school. not 2 long ago my friends all started drinking at the beginning i used 2 go with them like every weekend n stuff it was mad fun. Now all of a sudden they have been hanging out with the "cool" kids from their school that drink and the past 2 nights 2 of my friends at parties at their houses and i wasnt invited! Lately i havent been invited anywhere n its fucked up cause whenever i make plans i make sure i invite every1 but last time i forgot 2 invite joe so he made tim call me n ask if he could go and of course i said yes even tho joe never invites me anywhere... well whenever i try 2 make plans wit my friends i ask them wut they r doin n they all say they dont kno n i try makin suggestions of things we could do n they go "idk" n shit n they never tell me that they have plans already n then tim sometimes tells me like oh i think we r goin to andrews call him i guess if u wanna go but i feel stupid callin him and askin him if i can go over cause its fucked up he shoulda called me in the 1st place hes always invited when i have ppl over...idk wut 2 do my friends r so fucking gay i have more fun hangin out wit my girl friends but my guy friends dont like some of them n the girls always want me 2 bring other guys but i got no1 to bring and i can never do anything i want 2 do like tonight i wanted to go to this club but my friends all say they dont dance n shit n they never wanna go but i love goin 2 clubs n shit and i never get to go n another thing the only things my friends ever do now is play poker drink and go bowling they never do anything else like ever and like everynight all they ever wanna do is drink cause they think they r so "cool" they r too "cool" for me now i hate them but i have no1 else! So go alone. If you don't enjoy spending time with someone, then don't spend time with someone. They seem inconsiderate- kind of like a friend of mine, which is why I don't waste so much of my time with her anymore. If you hate your friends so much, and they don't seem to care about you, then do yourself a favor and find people who are actually cool and interesting and fun- people worth your time. Nobody said you HAD to hang out with them. Sometimes you have to move on.

Oy. Remember that little word woman? It has the word 'man' in it. So think of it this way, guys like girls who do things that guys like to do. I garuantee that if you knew all about cars, they'd all think you were totally hot. It's because people like to be able to relate to other people. And who said card collecting is a boy thing? Keep doing what you love. Don't ever try to act like something you aren't. You'll hate yourself in the end, and everyone will eventually find out and be completely lost trying to find out who their friend is- I know because I have a friend like that. He's totally cool but he isn't really genuine. It leaves people in the dark and it's a waste of time. So go be YOU. It's more fun to do "boy" stuff anyways.

hi im a 16/female and i have a pretty clear complexion except for the occasional zit or 2. well i keep getting one on the sides of my nose like where the crease is and it gets pretty big. its really weird too because i just had one underneath in the crease on my right side and then when that went away one is starting to come on the left side in the crease. if ne one knows of a good way to get rid of these please HELP! put a hot washcloth on your face and hold it wherever the zits are for a few seconds. Do that about 8 times as hot as you can stand it. This'll open up the pores. Then, wash your face with something that has glycolic acid in it, which will get rid of dead skin and bacteria. And then before yo go to bed, put on some topical overnight stuff. Wash your face twice a day, use oil free makeup, and keep your hands off your face. The best thing I've found so far that doesn't require going to a doctor, although it is a gouge for the wallet, is Dermologica. I use Anti-Bac cleanser and this overnight clear acne preventer stuff they have. But if you have sensitive skin, don't put the preventer gel stuff on your cheeks, just your T-zone, or it'll dry out the skin and start to peel.

splatter paint. That's what my cousin and I are going to do with hers. Of course, our big plan is to paint it black first and then splatter paint with something that glows in the dark. It's fun because you get to throw balloons of paint I guess...other than that, it's just the 'ol weirdness gene in our blood that causes us to do things like that. You probably think it's a really sucky idea. But oh well, on the behalf of my cousin who isn't here, and myself I suppose, we say it rocks.

I honestly don't know. Maybe we're all narcisistic people who like to believe that someone somehere will have their lives changed upon reading our little post. Truthfully, I come here to get a reality check. You start noticing that people are waaaaay more confused on stupid things than you are. It's a nice way to feel sane. But it does get frustrating after a while to keep reading really lame posts about how "so-and-so lied to me but I love him and I don't know what to do?" Dude, you know exactly what to do you just don't have the guts to do it. So that's where we come in I guess. We're like that friendly "kick in the pants" kind of thing. I'd like to think we get people to change something lame in their lives. but then again, some people's advice can be pretty bad so choose wisely. Other than that, we're bored and meddlesome people.
