Fish answered Saturday July 3 2004, 11:43 pm: Well, if you want to rock, go electric. See if you can rent one, because you might get tired of it and stop wanting to play guitar- renting lets you give it back. Go to a local guitar store, usually those guys are really helpful and know what they're talking about. They'll help you find a guitar that's the right size for your hands, etc. All guitars are going to hurt your fingers for a while, but you'll get callouses and then it won't matter anymore. shainaxxx answered Thursday June 24 2004, 9:46 pm: Well any guitar will hurt your fingers at first but youll get used to it.It depends on if you want a rock or a more soulful sound.
Adriane answered Thursday March 18 2004, 8:50 pm: I play guitar too.The electric guitar won't hurt your fingers as much as a classical or an acoustic. But to keep your fingers strong,it wouldn't be a bad idea to try one. There are many diffrent models of guitars, and only YOU can decide which one is right for you. But I would reccomend a guitar package to start off with. They cost very cheap.About $99.00. Remember guitar is a very hard instrument and you can't give up too easily.Oh,and keep your thumb BEHIND the neck. [ Adriane's advice column | Ask Adriane A Question ]
aka_kittkatt answered Monday January 26 2004, 10:00 pm: Look around before you head out the door and buy the first one you set your eyes on. I suggest starting with an acoustic before electric. Every guitar is gonna hurt your fingers, unless you leave it sitting in the corner of your room collecting dust. [ aka_kittkatt's advice column | Ask aka_kittkatt A Question ]
QBillion answered Monday January 26 2004, 6:42 pm: Get an electric guitar. I have one and it's really fun to play. Guitars do not hurt your fingers unless you are pressing down as hard as you can on the strings while playing. Playing guitar and learning it takes time, you can't just rock on the guitar. Taking lessons can be costly but it's worth it. If you want to rock like a rock star, its going to take years of practice.

koshii answered Monday January 26 2004, 12:52 am: I think I can even give you a choice here.
1.A soft guitar. I believe that certain companies make them out of jelly, feathers, silk, cotton balls, boiled noodles and snow these days. This would not hurt your fingers. Wow!
2.If you want to rock, I suggest you get a rock. These are widely available although I would advise you to be careful, because as you know the United States is currently at war with A Rock. I would personally ask all the rocks I see whether they like or dislike the US, and proceed thence. [ koshii's advice column | Ask koshii A Question ]
EternalFolly answered Sunday January 25 2004, 11:22 pm: Get a cheap guitar to start with. no reason to get a $450 one when you could get a $200 cheapo. If you dont want to hurt your fingers you could always try using a pick. [ EternalFolly's advice column | Ask EternalFolly A Question ]
Cspinoza1 answered Sunday January 25 2004, 10:15 pm: Its impossible for your fingers not to hurt when you buy your first guitar, so if you don't want your fingers to hurt don't buy one. But if your life me I saved to by the best I would a a fender that was my first guitar, but if you want something decent not so expensive get an Epi Sg300 its a good first start. Even a soft guitar will hurt the tips of your string fingers because they need to get calatyst so. The easiest way for your fingers not to hurt is wear skin tight gloves, I forget what they are made out of but they don't get in the way or they aren't think so they won't press other string or even touch them. shay*shay answered Sunday January 25 2004, 10:00 pm: Your fingers dont really hurt, but they will get A LOT of streching done! Mostley with any kind of guitar will that happen unless you get an extra small one. Go to a music store to see what some good brands are. [ shay*shay's advice column | Ask shay*shay A Question ]
