how do i delete double files?
i had problems with my mac and the tech preformed an archive and install and now i have double from everything alot of apps that don't work and no more scratch disk!!!
what should i do???

i deleted the previous systems file (thought that would help after i removed all my docs and stuff) and now i have stuff on my home disk and stuff on my mac drive (the home icon and the hardisk icon) that are almost identical .... i also can't open user files from the home drive which use to be in my old system... any ideas?!?!?!

Most of the time, you'll want to delete the files with the longer path. For example, /etc/app1 is probably a good folder that you want to keep. /usr/you/backup/app1 is probably the duplicate.
You shouldn't be deleting things if you don't know what they are, though.

alright, so i got the pantech duo for christmas. despite all the bad reviews, i love it. my boyfriend has a blackberry pearl. i don't have an internet usage plan on mine, but my boyfriend has the plan and uses his internet, and the guy that sold him his phone at the at&t store showed him a website to download free games for his phone. so he goes to that website on his phone and downloads a bunch for free. is there anything like that i can use to download free games for windows mobile 6 (besides the ones that come on the phone)? preferably downloading them from the internet and then putting them on the phone like i do ringtones and pictures and whatnot, but any method is fine. i'll even use the internet on my phone if i have to.

Hi. I have almost all the sims games. But when I put in the last downloaded game it says the file is corrupt or unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility. So I undownloaded the last game. And put in the other game CD and it says the same thing. Whats wrong with it? (( my boyfriend did the chkdsk think too.))
If all of your CDs are doing that, xx_Rachie_xx is probably correct. 3 years is old for a computer.
If it's just the sims, completely uninstall all of your sims games and then reinstall everything. That'll probably fix it.

I cannot install AIM 6.5
Every time I get an error message that says Error code IS-2008 and it stops the installation. I've already tried looking for help on aols support page. What can I do?

Error IS-2008 indicates that the installer is corrupted: the file was downloaded only partly.
Delete the installer and download it again. The re-downloaded version may work.

Well a couple of years ago on my old laptop, my brother installed something/some program, and it was a little creature, or whatever(I could change it) walking around on my desktop, and I could drag it anywhere, and so on.

Desktop pets are useless, they make your computer slower, and they often come with malware. I don't recommend them.

Hey, I left my book I'm reading in school. It's called The Bitch Posse. If anyone has read it, the first page is very dirty, its says Fuck me, fuck me. Its a bad book, but a good book. I'm pretty sure I left it in my last pd. class and I'm very worried I'll get in trouble for having a bad book like this in school. The teachers class I left it in is pretty nice, but I'm very scared that I'll get in trouble.I didn't go to school today, and I texted some of my friends and asked them to see if the book was in class. My one sent back, I don't see it. So I think my teacher must have picked it up.
Can I get in trouble? If so, how much?. I mean are they really going to be mad that I'm reading OUTSIDE of school, bad or not?
It is not the school's job to regulate what you read. Your teacher might disapprove, but it's unlikely that you'll get in any kind of trouble. And you shouldn't.

im really good with myspace, and html and everything, but i cant figure something out. in my blog im putting an iamge (a photo), and then i want the image to be a link to another myspace. well for some reason its not working. i get the image to be a link, but when i click on it, it takes me to a myspace page that says "friend id not found" or something. whats happening is when i save it the blog on myspace is like messing up the link. how can i fix this?

I have all the sims 2 games but my computer is having a problem and wont read the cd. Is there any way I can play without using the cd?
Find the correct nocd; the versions and language must match. Download and unzip the file. Move the exe file with the sims image to C:\program files\ea\sims (or something like that). It will overwrite a file. The game should now work without the CD.

Lately my dad's been trying to do things to make my computer less prone to viruses. Ths thing is, I can't even access itunes anymore and it's killing me. When I click on itunes, it says that it won't run because my Windows is running on safemode. Does anybody know how to get my computer out of safemode, or atleast how to get my itunes working again?

Restart your computer. You should automatically come out of safe mode. If it doesn't, something is broken. A ton of things could be broken to cause this, there's no way I could diagnose it through Advicenators.

I followed the Youtube tutorial on how to remove vocals in Audacity, but instead of removing the vocals, I ended up removing the background music [which is what I wanted], I followed the instructions carefully. [Split track, invert bottom track, make each track Mono], and it did not work. I've tried it on 5 different songs, and it's all the same.
What am I doing wrong?
You're doing nothing wrong. On some songs it's just impossible to remove one or the other. Try getting a different version of the song; that might help.

You have either too many programs running, not enough RAM, or both. My guide will minimize your RAM use, which should help your problem.
Also, if you're using any version of Windows other than XP, Vista, or 2003, upgrade. Older versions of Windows are especially prone to this sort of thing.
If you only use your computer for Internet and email, you might consider switching to Damn Small Linux:

To resize, which is probably what you actually want:
Go to image, resize/resample. Uncheck "preserve aspect ratio". For "set new size", select "inches" and then enter 7 in both boxes. The image will be shrunk to 7x7.
To actually crop it to 7x7 (you probably don't actually want to do this):
Go to edit, create custom crop selection. Set width and height to 7 inches. You will need to change the units to inches. Press ok. A selection box will appear on the image. Put your mouse cursor in it and hold down the right mouse button. Move the cursor around to move the box. When you have to to where you want to crop it, go to image, crop selection. Everything outside of the box will be eliminated.

Those are called fasciculations. Unless it happens a lot, they're harmless. Almost everyone get them occasionally, some more than others.

First make the logo/banner. Do it yourself or search:
Then upload it to tinypic.com, imageshack.us, or similar. They will give you a "direct URL"; remember it.
Then use this code:
-URL 1 is the URL that is navigated to when someone clicks the image
-URL 2 is the DIRECT LINK to the image
-Border is the image around the image. You probably want it at 0
-Title is the text that appears when someone puts their mouse over the image. Remove title="hover text" to get rid of the hover text.
Both URLs must start with http://. Additionally, URL 2 must END in jpg, bmp, gif, or png.

Sometimes when I am on a website, let's use this one, for example, and I click on a link, such as "View Questions" or "Your Advice Column," etc, down at the bottom of the window it will say transferring date from hyip.com or obeus.com, websites that have nothing to do with the website I'm on. The link that I click appears right away however, and after its done doing its random website stuff, it will say "Done."
Also, sometimes, all my internet windows will randomly close without warning. But when I do click the Firefox symbol on my desktop, it will ask me if I want to restore my previous session.
What is this and what should I do?

Of course, Advicenators doesn't actually tell your browser which things are ads. Your browser just loads it all.
The other issue is just a crash. Programs occasionally crash(they close without warning) when something goes wrong. If it happens a lot then there could be something wrong with your computer or Firefox, but it's probably not a virus. It's normal for it to happen around every 40 hours or 2 weeks of use, whichever comes first.

In a public school, you can be searched at any time for even the slightest thing that could be interpreted as suspicious. As long as they searched you in a reasonable and non-abusive manner, they're fine.

Well I'm 15/f and since Friday (it's Tuesday now) I've lost 4kg.
I haven't eaten much, but I don't feel hungry either...

If you're already underweight, then that is too much. You might have an eating disorder.
If you're normal or overweight, though, then that amount of weight loss isn't exactly healthy, but you don't need to worry about it. Just try to stop losing weight at that rate. Limit yourself to 1kg per week.
This could also be indicative of a medical problem. If you continue to lose weight at this rate, despite changes in diet, see a doctor.
