I've always had a bit of a problem with my posture. I slouch all the time and no matter how often people remind me to stand up straight, I just fall back into the habit. My mom always tells me that "I'm so pretty and I'd be prettier if I stood up straight." I really want to fix this and I've tried many times in the past. Does anyone have any good tips? I've heard that a habit can be broken in 3 weeks. Thanks.

Overview
Perfect posture doesn't just happen. Dancers, martial artists and athletes are all known for exhibiting great posture. The thing they have in common is exercise. You can draw from different methods of exercise and disciplines to correct your posture. Core exercises, ballet and the Alexander technique are just some of the sources from which you can borrow exercises. Maintaining good posture throughout these exercises will stretch and strengthen your muscles so that your body is able to achieve good posture all the time. Work up to doing posture exercises daily.
Rounded Shoulders
Step 1
Sit in a chair or on a stability ball with your feet on the floor. Bend forward at the waist to lay your stomach on your thighs. Look at the floor. Flatten your back and position your neck in line with your spine.
Step 2
Extend your arms straight out to your sides. Rotate your arms and point your thumbs up. Bring your hands and elbows in line with your shoulders.

Step 3
Raise your arms straight up toward the ceiling as high as you can. Pull your shoulder blades together as if trying to make them kiss. Touch your thumbs together if you are flexible enough. This motion will strengthen the rhomboid muscles of your upper back, according to Kathy Smith of Your Total Health.
Step 4
Lower your arms back down to shoulder level. Keep your arms straight and your shoulders away from your ears.
Straight Spine
Step 1
Stand up straight with your feet together. Turn your toes out to 45 degrees to borrow a spine-straightening move from ballet, the Port de Bras exercise. Lift your arms over your head and slide your shoulders down.
Step 2
Bend forward at your waist with your back flat. Reach for your toes as far as you can without rounding your back. Keep your biceps in line with your ears and your neck in line with your spine.
Step 3
Raise your upper body back up as you stand up straight. Arms should lift to the ceiling again. Arch your lower back a little to do a slight back bend. Look up and slightly behind you. Pull your shoulders back and feel your chest opening and stretching. Do eight reps, recommends the Women's Health article "Lean and Tall in Minutes."
Alexander Technique
Step 1
Kneel on the floor with a stability ball in front of you. Straighten your arms parallel to the floor and hold the sides of the stability ball. Lean forward and bend at your waist so your back is also parallel to the floor. Look at the floor.
Step 2
Position your hips so they are slightly further back than your knees. Place your shins on the floor. Twist your shoulders and roll the ball to the right a few inches without moving your knees or your hips. Feel your hips stretch. Keep your shoulders back, your spine straight and your head pulled back so that your neck is in line with your spine.
Step 3
Rotate back to straight so that you're facing the floor.
Step 4
Rotate toward the left a few inches. Roll the ball three more times in each direction, alternating left and right. Roll the ball a little further each time if you can do so without sacrificing your postural alignment, recommends Women's Health.

There are 3 guys in my class who constantly get on my nerves.Actually all guys in my class get on my nerves.There are 23 other girls beside me and they only pick on me.They are extremely rude and I never did anything to them.They keep saying how I'm ugly,stupid,how I sweet talk the teachers just to get good grades,and what not.And none of that is true.I'm smart,good looking and I just have my own attitude and my own way of living.I just want them to stop and let me live.I tried talking to the school psychologist but she'd only have me sit with those boys and not do anything about it.Then I'd also be labeled as a crybaby.I just think I have the right to be left alone and feel comfortable in the classroom.I just wish they would stop.No point in reasoning with them.

heyy girll, okay well first of all going to the school psychologist NEVER HELPS. trust me never get the school involved. you really need to put your foot down and stand UP FOR YOURSELF! if you dont thats when they think its okay to keep bothering you because they think your too scared to say anything to them. so next time they do anything tell them to "SHUT THE FUCKKK UPP" :)

19/f i feel tired all the time. my weight is pretty low, like 94 pounds. i am 5"4. i have been put on remeron by my psychiatrist and it works, however i am still sleepy. i feel like its been getting worse. i think a lot of it is my diet. i eat junk food and a lot of meat. yesterday i took a 2 hour nap. i woke up and i was okay for a while but then i was extremely sleepy again. on Saturday night i felt sleepy at around 8 o clock, and i usually sleep a little later on the weekends. yesterday i was sleepy at 9, and this was even after i took a nap. so i don't know what to do. what's wrong with me? help!

So basically I have been in love with this boy for two years before we finally started going out. Now we've been together for a while now, and he's a busy person. He spends a lot of time doing working, or visiting family, or whatever. I know he tries to spend time with me, but he just can't. 18 f. ive recently started smoking weed because my friend who lives with me does it all the time. ive done it a few times and i took a few hits last night. today i woke up and inside my chest hurts so bad, like its hard to take deep breaths. is this normal?

yes because your lungs arent used to all of the smoke and when you smoke weed it kind of burns your throat alittle. if you keep doing it your lungs will get used to it but if if your lungs keep hurting i suggest you go check out a doctor, you could just tell him you smoked cigs. or hookah.

so this guy and I have been talking. He happens to be friends with my first love. I don't think he knows about it cuz it doesn't seem like it. 19/f i am scared. i am 5"4 and only like 92.5 pounds. i've been put on this medicine called remeron to help me gain weight but like before i keep gaining and losing. i am tired all the time, people use to ask me if i am anorexic, or tell me oh your so skinny. i mean i got made fun of a lot. and i can't believe i am saying this but i think i have started believing what other people say about me being anorexic. i do eat and it's not like i worry about how many calories i put in my body, i don't eat breakfast, but that's because i am always late for school be cause i get up in the morning and go on the computer. things are just getting worse for me. i look disgusting. my arms are like toothpicks, and so are my legs. i eat junk food. i did stop ea ting out for a while because i got sick of it, and plus at the time my mom wasn't working, but then she got her job back and i started into my old unhealthy routine. now i eat out almost everyday. but still no results. what should i do?

welll the goood news is you are not anerexic!
anerexic people refuse to eat and they think that they are obese when they are VERY skinny. its a psychological problem.

so what you should do is gain weight in a healthy manner. The foods you eat must supply you with much needed calories and give you all of the nutrients and phytochemicals that your body may have been missing for a while.

In order to gain weight, you need to consume more calories than you are currently taking in every day. You really shouldn't guess how many calories you need. (food log helps)

Remember that you need to choose healthy foods to really be healthy. This is especially important if you are recovering from an illness or have been undernourished for a long time. You want to gain weight and you want to improve your health as well.



Tips for Increasing Calories While Keeping a Healthy Diet

-Add cheese, nuts and dressings made with olive, walnut or canola oil to salads.
-Eat starchy vegetables such as potatoes and corn more often.
-Go for dried fruits or fruit juices as healthy higher calorie snacks.
-Add cream or cheese sauces to fish and baked chicken breast.
-Choose herbs and spices to increase the flavors of your food rather than relying on salt.
-Add powdered milk to soups and sauces to offer calories and protein.
-Spread Peanut butter on whole grain bread, apples or celery sticks to get a great source of protein and calories.
-Stick with healthy desserts, such as a bowl of berries with whipped topping and lot of chopped nuts.
-Spoon healthy salad dressings on sandwiches and as a dip for vegetables.

Hey! I volunteered for a pie in the face thing for my school NHS. People will pay like a few dollars to throw pies at me/other people, and they have a choice between just whipped cream on a plate, or with chocolate sauce added, or finally with cherries added. Haha :D

Which outfit do you think I should wear? I usually dress very fashionable/stylish and I don't want to look like I dressed down in rags for a charity, I think that would look selfish. I want to wear something that looks stylish and will contrast well with the pie. :)

Outfit 1) White hollister shirt/hollister jeans/converse. Outfit 2.) Black cowl neck sweater, with hollister jeans, and heel boots. Outfit 3.) Black cowl neck sweater, with matching skirt, tights, and heel boots. Outfit 4.) Red dress with belt, tights, and red heels

Any advice? Those would all be typical outfits I would wear to school, although outfit 1 is really casual. So which outfit would you most want to throw pie at, lol?

Okay I don't know what to do. I'm in a realtionship with this new guy but I still think about my ex every single day. Even though he was a jerk, a dick, a douche, didn't respect me, betrayed me, hurt me, and so much more I just can't seem to get over him. He was my first everything... (excluding sex). So I know that's a lot of physical connection that'll be hard to get over. And all of that came with alot of guilt and pressure and ugh.. I admit our relationship was a mess and unhealthy but I miss him SOOO much and even as I type this I'm crying and thats horrible! We've been broken up for almost six months and and I'm dating some one new for God's sake!! Granted I dated my ex for seven months... and he was my first but I should be over him! I can feel this new guy getting suspicious and I know he's starting to tell I'm not okay... But I know I'll regret it if I lose him... But honestly... if I had the choice between him and my ex and I'd pick my ex in a heartbeat. And that doesnt make sense!! This guy is perfect and my ex is a jerk I just felt something so strong with him... I don't know what to do!! I don't want to break up with my boyfriend because I DO care about him... In seventh grade i had my first boyfriend. We dated for two months and i broke up with him. I was twelve and he was fifteen. He was my first boyfriend and first kiss. I still liked him a lot when i broke up with him. and i didn't want to brake up with him but it was just one of thoughs things i felt was needed. Anyway after we broke up i got home schooled and hadn't seen or talked to him. i am now in ninth grade, and saw him the first day of school for the first time since we had broken up. Hes a really quiet guy, like really quite and you think he like doesn't have emotions. I said said hi to him that day just "hi" nothing eles. and now I'm 3 months into school and we don't even say hi to each other talk anything. we have a class together but its a computer class and we sit on opposite sides of the room so we never can talk in that class besides at the end of the day (its our last period). I always think about him and if we were to get back together etc. but we never talk and he never try's to talk to me so it makes me think he hates me thinks I'm ugly just doesn't like me. I talked to my mom about this and she said it could be because I broke up with him. and it's hard to deal with and that hes really shy. but i don't know it's confusing i just really wish we became friends again or something. Also i notice he will like look over to were i am sitting, and one time i was walking to the bus he was in front of me with his friend and he turned around saw me then said something to his friend and they both turned. then one time same thing walking to the bus they were in front of me they stopped so i would go ahead of them and walked behind me... like what does this all me? does he like me? is he scared to talk to me? (he is REALLY quite like even his sisters say that)does he hate me? or am i just reading in to what he is doing to much? am i not over him even after all these years?

i think you just want to have the feeling of a boyfriend and hes the closest thing to that so you think you like him but i think you just want to have some contact with him.
i think you should let him talk to you first because if he really did still like you he would grow some balls and atleast say hi.
