Try visting volunteermatch.org - it's a website that will let you search through many different kinds of volunteer opportunities in your area. It's a really great site, definitely check it out.
sorry if this doesn't belong here. all of the fonts on websites are much bigger than normal. is this common? lol. according to norton i don't have any viruses, but it is really getting on my nerves. is there something i can change in my computers settings even? thanks.
Don't bother changing your Windows settings...there's something easier that won't affect your entire computer. When you're on IE go to the view menu and scroll down to text size - from there you can decrease text display size.
I don't have a lot of money and I have a cat that does not have a liscence or vet or anything. Everytime my cat sneezes it shoots diarhea all over the wall and it drips everwhere and she's even splurged on me before. help me. what do i do?
Your cat could have a serious health problem and if you do not get her help you will be breaking the law. If you cannot afford to care for your cat then put her up for adoption. It's cruel of you to not take care of her health needs - pets are like children, they cannot take care of themselves on their own.
Okay so, I babysit everyday for 2 hours which some people have told me will burn alot of calories then as soon as I get home I do 2 hours/an hour and a half of dancing then if I have time I do 30 minutes of skipping (rope jumping)
I'm not doing it to lose weight it's just to stay in shape and keep me busy since I have nothing better to do.
Loads of people have told me I'm over excersizing and I know for a fact it's dangerous to over excersize.
Am I over excersizing?
I think you should talk to your doctor about how much you've been exercising and come up with a good workout plan for you. It does seem like you're probably over-exercising, but if I were you I'd leave that decision to the professionals. Try cutting back a bit, because you don't want to end up burning more calories than your body actually takes in.
I have a geometry final exam tomorrow and i have to make an 80 on it to pass the class....does anyone have any tips for me so help remember formulas and any way to help me study because its like i cant stay focused or remember anything! so any tips on remembering and focusing would really help!

Making up songs or rhymes about what you're doing can help you remember formulas. And when I have trouble studying I read everything I'm studying out loud - it helps me focus on what I'm reading and allows me to hear what I'm reading, so you take it in both visually and audibly.

I have been dating a guy for about a month and a half now, and he is about to graduate from highschool. We dont know eachother very well, which is why I am about to ask this. I got invited to his graduation party, which is a bit less than a month away now. Problem is, I have absolutly no idea what to do for a gift. I dont know what types of things you get for someone who is graduating, this is the first time I've had to deal with having to get a graduation gift. Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated!
If you really don't know what to get him, a gift card to Target or Wal Mart would probably be handy because if he's going off to college, he'll need a lot of supplies (laundry baskets, sheets, etc.)

We've been having to do this "Great Gatsby" essay in class. Well one of the prompts, I didn't exactly understand, so I thought I would do it at home, that way I could concentrate, go online, do research and stuff. But I've been doing it for the past hour and I can't find or think of anything. I have no idea what the answer is! I don't want you to write the paragraph for me or anything, I just want some guidelines and explanation. If you can help, that would be awesome.
Here's the prompt: A tragic hero is one who is destined to die due to some flaw in their behavior and/or personality. How is Gatsby a tragic hero, who is most responsible for his death and how does his death tie in with the thesis?
I know George Wilson shot Gatsby, but is he totally responsible for it? And what was Gatsby's flaw that makes him a tragic hero? I can't think of anything!!
Before I go off into my explaination, the next time you're stumped on an assignment, try going to sparknotes.com - there are discussion boards there that can probably provide you with the answer you're looking for.
With this question you have to go below the surface and not look at how Gastby was killed, but why it happened.
Gatsby is incredibly naive. Look at his relationship with Daisy; he even states that he thinks it's possible to turn back time. Gastby's not willing to face reality.
Here are some questions that will hopefully get you on the right track.
- What did Gastby devote himself to after the war?
- Why did he throw lavish parties every night?
- Why did he not invite Daisy to these parties?
- Why would Gastby take the blame for Myrtle's death when Daisy was really the one who hit her?
After you have answered these questions try figuring out how his reactions to these situations relate to his personality and why they make him (or do not make him) a tragic hero.
After that come up with a preliminary thesis, outline your essay, and start looking for evidence to back up your points.

My mom has a yeast infection, a very severe one ((yeah,,ew)), and we cant afford medicine, and since my dad got laid off we dont have insurance and theres no way we can afford anything over like 20 dollars..believe it or not, so please dont tell me to buy anything more than that amount. I feel really bad because shes crying it hurts her so much, and i am kinda uncomfotable with this weird situation. She developed a tolerance to any kind of pill (advil tylenol whatever) becasue of a drug addiction, and thats not really my ?. My question is, where can i find some specific sites with home remedys to cure this painful infection or at least make her feel better, shes my mom and i lover her and the last thing i want her to be in is pain. You and your mother should look for community clinics in your town. Most communities have clinics for people who cannot afford to pay for health care or insurance and are usually free (though most clinics do charge you for medicines - prices vary depending upon the medicine.)
Try calling your operator and see if he or she can connect you to a nearby clinic.
In our school we have Microsoft Word, and on my computer i only have microsoft works word processor. I need to bring a saved essay to school on a disk but it doesnt open in microsoft word because its microsoft works. (gets confusing), so i need to download microsoft word on my computer for free so i could bring my essay to school and work on it. Does anyone know any sites they will give me so i can download microsoft word for free? I tried searching on google but i need specific sites cuz im dumb. Anyone who helps..thanks alot!!!!
You don't even need Word on your PC to use Works. The easiest thing to do is work in whatever word processing program you use at home, copy and paste when you're completely finished, and save it as a file in notepad. Open the file on your school's computer and do the same thing when you're done working at school. This is the easiest way to avoid compatibility problems when working with different text programs.
Is it normal to still be bleeding the day after your first time?
Yes. I wouldn't worry about it too much, it should stop in a day or two. Until then just wear a pantiliner or pad.

Talk to your school's career/college counselor. They should be able to point you towards a few schools that might suit you.
If your school does not have one, there are a few important things to consider:
- price range
- what kind of academics are offered
- the size and location of the school
- what kind of grades and SAT scores you have
There are lots of websites and books about finding the right college for you, so try searching the net and taking a trip to your local library or bookstore. A good place to start is http://collegeboard.com
Hi my girlfriend recently told me she was pregnant and that the baby was concieved before we met i love this girl and was looking for any advice on not being the biological father and also looking after a small child any input from people who have experienced this and been through it would be very helpful thankyou in advance.
The first thing you should do is decide if you're ready to be a parent. If you are you then have to decide if you'll be able to love and care for this child as if it were your own. If you cannot do either of these things it would be best if you ended your relationship with the girl because you'll end up hurting both her and the child if you stay.
If you are ready to be a parent and love that little one to death, talk to your girlfriend about it and find out what kind of involvement she would like from you and give her an extra hand (ie go to parenting classes with her, help her baby shop, etc.)
ok i have a friend who has this b/f. HE and she have been going out for 5 months at the most and he has already popped the question... She doesnt' know what to do... She is barely graduationg this year and he is still a junior. She fills presherd and stuff and he has already been talking about having kids with her... she is scared and she even feels like not coming to school because hes here... what should she do? If she's bothered by his obsession with lifelong commitment maybe it's time for them to break up. If she thinks he will give her trouble she should tell her parents and have one of his parent's phone numbers or email addresses where she knows she can reach them in case he does harass her. It doesn't sound like she's in a very healthy relationship right now, and she needs to realize that being in a relationship means that your needs are just as important as your boyfriend's - he needs to understand that as well. If she's scared that he'll overreact if she breaks up with him she should do it in a safe, public place like a shopping mall or school; bringing a friend is also a good idea (though they should keep their distance during the breakup.)

It's supposed to rain this weekend so I wouldn't advise going to the beach to swim. If you're into music, check out Amoeba Music - it's one of the largest used music stores in the country (they also sell used DVDs and VHS tapes). okay, im not sure if this is in the right place. but i know i dont get enough of water. because i just cant drink things of water, i get sick. like i throw up. and water with something in it takes a while to make. and you get tired of it.

Whenever you're having a medical issue you should go to your doctor and talk to them about it. The internet is not the most reliable resource in the world and would you rather get your answers from a doctor or a random person on acvicenators? If you have to wait a while try checking an actual medical site like webmd.com and see if there's anything you can do until your appointment.

She doesn't listen to me. Ever. Like, for example, today, I asked her to pick me up a block away from school. She was standing RIGHT out front, so I told her how appalled I was at her behavior and she cancelled my manicure. Her excuse was 'You have a friend'. Yeah, a friend that I carpool with every day.

You're lucky that your mom can pick you up from school and is willing to give you a manicure. Yeah, parents are embarssing but we all have them. Just deal with it and try to be thankful that you have a mom who loves you.
I'm a senior and my motivation for school is absolutely gone. I want school to end so I can get out, run to never land and not come back for ever and ever. No, but anyway, my grades are dropping...and dropping fast. Specially my English AP grade. At the beginning of the year I had an A and now it's barely a C. Last six weeks I got a F. I need to bring my grade up to a B so I can pass the stupid class and I have 3 weeks to do it. I know I can but there's nothing there. I'm so fed up with school that sometimes I just don't give a shit. Any ideas?
I don't think failing a class will ruin your life, but it could certainly ruin your summer. Do you want to extend the torture of school even more and have to take summer school? Just buckle down and do the work right when you get home. Get it out of the way and remember that it's almost over and you'll never have to do another AP English assignment once the school year ends!
my friend has this boy friend who is cutting himself and inking it (pouring ink all over the cut) because he wants to die and he is in a mental hospital right now and my friend likes him alot because he cares about her more than her step dad cause he beats and rapes her. well my friend said if this guy dies she is going to kill herself and ive tried talking to her but she wont listen and she still wants to kill herself if her bf dies. plz help
Her mom should have called the cops and had her stepdad arrested when he raped her. Go tell your school counselor what's going on - she's required by law to report situations that could potentially endanger a child to the police (or the parents if the child is a threat to his or herself)
Your friend is in a bad situation and doing nothing will only make things worse. She'll get mad at you for telling but what would you rather have - a dead friend with an abusive stepfather or have her be mad at you until she realizes that you love her and care about her? She needs help, please don't wait any longer.

I wouldn't mind her keeping it, except that it is starting to pull her teeth forward.
Talk to your child's doctor about it. He probably knows her disposition and can provide you with good suggestions and strategies that would suit her best.
