So I've never really had to buy my girlfriend anything because my mom always took care of all of that. But last year, my gf found out that I don't personally buy her presents and she got all upset. Now, she wants me to go out and buy her her present this year by myself. My mom refuses to help me now. I've really never done this before and you don't have to believe me but it's true. Anyways, this is what I have so far:
100$ Abercrombie card (her fav. store)
50$ Hollister or Forever 21 card (her second fav.--I'm not sure which yet though)
And these earrings her sister helped me pick out. They're pink sapphires with pearl on top they're pretty nice.
But I can see my gf's face when she sees these..."oh gift cards...thanks babe..." She might like the earrings more though...I don't know. I'm already spending 250$ on all of that--I'll put in maybe like 75 more. Does anyone have any ideas?
Well getting a gift card isn't getting a gift personally, either is having her sister pick out a present. You should go out and pick out jewelry yourself, or go pick out clothes at her favorite stores yourself.

It's pretty obvious that he doesn't want a serious relationship. He gave you a really bad excuse about a serious relationship "ruining your relationship". If I were you, I wouldn't have sex with him anymore. If he's only committed to being friends with benefits, then he isn't worth it.

It sounds like he is trying to avoid you. Ask him why he isn't calling anymore or talking to you. Maybe he likes that other girl now. He isn't worth it.

Well, he DID get really defensive when you mentioned it, so that could be true. If he had recent calls with her, that's another sign. Oh, and HE LET HER SIT ON HIS LAP. You can't just say he's cheating, but the signs point to that he likes her. I would break up with him if I were you.

It sounds like they do like each other still. I would back off the relationship if I were you. Of course your girlfriend isn't going to admit she still likes her ex. He probably thinks you broke up with him to date another guy, so yeah that's why he doesn't believe that you 'just want to be friends'. Tell him what you told everyone on here - he makes you feel bad, he was self centered, he always had to be right, and you knew the relationship was coming to an end. Tell him that you would like to be his friend, and if he doesn't want to then you can understand. Give it some time, after you just went out with another guy, of course your ex boyfriend is going to be mad.
