Hello
1.I am on a diet and my mom bought me these chewy wholesome granola bars. I dont know if alot of people eat them...but are bad for you?
2.How many calories and carbs should i have a day for sufficent weight loss?
Will rate 5's and send feedback:)
Thanks (link)

1. They're probably good to eat, but if you want to know for certain, read the ingrediants and look up anything that looks unfamiliar.
2. Carbohydrates are almost irrelevent; they're just a specific form that nutrition comes in. As for calories: eat less than you use in a day. And, contrary to what you may have heard, it's not a matter of straight addition; your body is not 100% efficient, so not all (or even most) of your unused calories will become fat, and your fat will not be converted to energy in a linear fashion with regards to your activity level.
Calories, as you probably know, are a measure of energy. The number of calories in a food that you read on the food packaging is determined by literally burning the food; the amount of heat energy produced is the total amount of energy in that given food, and so is equal to the number of calories. But here's the thing: when you eat food, your body does not metabolize all of it, or even most of it. That's why humans defecate; there's always stuff left over. What your body DOES metabolize is used for construction materials, of sorts; building or rebuilding cells. Some of it is used for energy. And some of that energy, which is not used, is stored as fat, either in fat cells that already exist or by creating new fat cells. Fat cells, of course, make you fat. However, when you lose weight by getting rid of fat, you're not actually getting rid of the fat cells; just some of the stuff inside of them. That's why it's easier to gain weight than it is to lose it.
But none of that answers your question, although it's necessary to understand. Basically, what you have to do is find out how your own body metabolizes food; everyone is different. Some people eat alot, but don't put on much weight. Some people eat very little, but store all of it as fat. Thus, you have to observe how your own eating habits affect your weight. Then, using that as a guideline, you can determine how much you should be eating.
But if you still want to count all your calories, here is an example of the most anal way to do it:
Say you do pullups, and your arms are 2 feet long. And, let's say for example that you weigh 120 pounds. The amount of calories used for a single pullup is:
120 * 0.45356 * 2 * 0.3048 * 0.00418400 * 9.8 = 1.360437838147584 Calories.
This is from the equation "energy= mass*gravity*change in height", converting for imperial units and converting energy units from joules to Calories.
But no one is that anal. It does show you, though, that to get rid of that donut, you really do have to do hundreds of pullups. Yow.

I've never had a boyfriend and I'm 15. I know that it's ok and that I don't need a boyfriend to make me happy, but I really want one. I see how happy my friends are with their relationships and I just want to feel that special feeling, you know? I don't wanna sound conceited but i don't think looks are the main problem. My friends tell me that I'm not flirtatious and outgoing like them. Its just that I feel awkward being flirtatious and always question myself like omg he doesnt like me and stuff. How do I become more flirtatious and outgoing to get a boyfriend? thanks so much (link)

Guys are easy. Just be friendly, conversational. That's all you have to do, be direct.

I'm a very experienced actor. I've been acting since I was 7 and I've been in two proffesional shows, "Les Miserables" and "The Phantom" (a 70's musical version of the phantom of the opera, the andrew lloyd webber show was based off this). Now I'm about to be in the Wizard of Oz. Ok, so we had our auditions. I wanted to be the West Witch/Almira Gultch REALLY badly, so I practiced and studied the show and the movie and the witch like hell. Soon the auditions came and I gave it all out. By all the other girls, I was the very best, everyone thought I was going to get the part. Then the cast list came out. And well what do you know! I didn't get it. a BOY who auditioned for the scarecrow got it! I'm just a human set piece (to be specific, a tree, a flower, and a tornado dancer) and the Lion's haircutter. I'm really sad and upset. And the boy didn't even WANT to be the Witch! I've never been good at auditions, and this was my first perfect audition and I got the smallest part I've ever had in my life! How can I deal with this?! What can I do?! Can someone help me? and please don't say "every role is important" I've been told that a million times by our director. sorry this was long but I'm really sad (link)

What do stage actors do for a living? They starve.
No, I jest. But really, you can't bat 1000 all the time. You won't always get the parts you want, no matter how talented you are.

If i walk 1 mile a day and do about 100 crunches a day, how long till i see or feel a difference? (link)
|
A difference in...strength? Weight? Size?
Depends on how you are when you start.
If you're "average," a true difference will come within 6 months or a year. Providing, that is, you eat healthy too.
If you are overweight or obese, it will take quite a while to see a difference.
|
(16/f)Does anyone know a work-out I can do to work my lower abs? I've been doing crunches/sit ups and all i've gotten is a 2-pack. Would leg lifts help? I don't want a work-out video-and i belong to a gym so i have access to medicine balls and what not, but i'd prefer just a movement i could do at home! thanks! (link)
|
You're on the right track. Two things to keep in mind: it doesn't happen over night, and you have to do it right. It's something you need to do for quite a while...months, really. And...and i dont know if this applies to you or not...but I've noticed teenagers tend to do situps by only half or a quarter of the way up. You have to go all the way up, and all the way down, for it to be effective. Some claim this puts undue stress on the lower back, but this won't happen provided that you exercise on a mat or soft surface.

hey im gunna get an ipod mini and i heard songs are $.99 each..do they have tax? lol and can you delete songs? like if i already used all the 1,000 songs but i wanna replace some of the songs can you do that? thx! (link)
|
It shouldn't have a tax. And rather than deleting the songs, copy them to your hard drive from your ipod and then delete them on your ipod - that way, you'll still have the songs, just not on your ipod.
And don't bother buying music - at a dollar per song, it's like buying a whole cd in small pieces. Borrow cd's from your friends and rip mp3's from those, or pirate it off the 'net. Disclaimer: that's illegal.
And in response to the question you asked in your feedback to me, the answer is maybe. It's not illegal to rip music from cd's that you own, but it is illegal to rip music from cd's that you borrow. Think of it this way, though - you will never get caught copying your friends' cd's.

(link)

There are two ways to know if someone is lying:
Interpretting FACS (facial action coding system).
Brain scans (PET scan).
But odds are you don't have a PET scanner, and you haven't memorized FACS. So there's no way to know without proof or investigation.

i want to be a singer and i sing 24/7 and i sing infront of everyone and they all like it. well since they know my voice they told me to write songs so i am. but how do i get a record label? or send it to a record company?
~almost famous (link)
|
This is very difficult to do. There are many people around who also want such opportunities, some with talent, some without. You might send a recording to a record company, but they may or may not pay any attention to it.
If your singing is indeed good...or even if it isn't...there's another way to get started. These days it's easier to get a fan base before you get a label.
First, of course, you'll need to record a song of yours. But not on tape. On a computer. Using a computer, you can then edit it and clean it up in a myriad of different ways, or, if you like it as it is, then you can encode it into an MP3. You can then start posting your music on the internet; there are many websites where music enthusiasts can post their works for other people to listen to. Internet users and MP3 fans love free music, and it's an excellent way to get more feedback and suggestions on your singing. If you're lucky, alot of people will notice.
Or you can audition for American Idol. But I wouldn't recomend it.

I L0VE getting samples ++ little suprises in the mail - does anyone know any websites that list REAL free sample offers and usually bring you to a company`s site to fill out the form, besides TeenFreeway and the YIF Forum? (link)
|
The united states military loves to give away free stuff. Hats, mugs, pencils, all sorts of things. Typically, they send something in the mail asking you to tell them some information about yourself, and in return you get freebies. I imagine that this would be available on the internet too. Here's some places to start:

www.af.mil
www.navy.mil

Okay heres the thing, i know how to blend pictures and everything but i dont know how to give it a certain color. Like this picture... http://images.xangans.com/xanga/04/0870_img1.jpg it has 4 different colors, like a tone. I want to do that to my picture but i dont know how to.
Any one ill rate a FIVE!!!!~!~
If it matters, i have picture it! express and animation shop 3 (link)
|
Ah, yes. This was done by putting each individual picture into black and white, and then changing the hue. These pictures were blended together using layers, putting one on top of the other and erasing the parts the person didn't want, ending up with a collage type of thing.
I'm not absolutely certain, but I do not believe that your software will do the trick. You'll need something much better. The best program to use is Adobe Photoshop. Unless you pirate it, though, it is rather pricey to buy. Another good program is Macromedia Fireworks, which is also expensive. A program that isn't as good, but will probably work, is called Paintshop Pro. You can buy it for $60, or get a 30 day trial here:

(link)
|
No, you're not wrong. Religion is a personal choice, and you have every right to reject a religion that is offered to you.
It's worth noting that jehova's witness is probably the last church you want to join if you enjoy your religious freedom; you can search the net and find more than a few unhappy stories about it.

Whats planned parenthood?
i rate 5's (link)

Planned parenthood is an organization dedicated to sex education, and a descriptor of a sexual lifestyle wherein contraceptives are used so that a couple may have sex while choosing when or if to have children.

okay i wrote a book and at the moment i'm typing it and making corrrections to it, but how do i get it published? (link)
|
You submit the final version to a publishing company, which will then accept or reject your manuscript based on its quality and/or potential to make money.
Finding publishing companies isn't too hard, just try looking up "publishers" or "publishing company" on google.

To put it bluntly: No, you shouldn't marry him.
Most marriages that begin at your age fail, and unpleasently so.
Children born to women who marry at your age are much more likely than normal to do poorly in school, and are more likely than normal to get into trouble with the law.
This has nothing to do with the individuals themselves; many teenagers who get married are good people. The problem is that they are not intellectually or emotionally mature enough to bare the burden of child rearing and lifelong commitment.
Your boyfriend clearly isn't ready. A responsible adult does not get himself drunk senseless, nor does he allow himself to cheat on the woman he plans to propose to.
Do the right thing. Stay single, get an education, and get a job. If you and your boyfriend are still in love when you're thirty, then i say, go for it.

My best friends in the world, Kayla & Bridget are always good to me. But lately, Bridget hasen't been. She hangs out with a lot of other girls who are mean, and doesn't act like her old self. I have no idea what's going on, and Kayla is away to New York for the WHOLE summer and i miss much [i live in virginia]

Part of going through your teenage years is changing. Everyone handles it differently. Your friend is handing it by actively embracing the whims that the changes in her mind and body bring. It's not her fault or yours that she has alienated you; it's just part of growing up.
Try talking to her. Perhaps you will reconcile. Or, you may end up growing apart. But that's okay...its unpleasent at the moment, but its just the way things turn out sometimes.

14/f (me) 18/m (him) I've been friends with a guy who is 3 years older than me for about 2 years. When we both met, we both liked each other, but at the time didn't tell each other. Later, we told each other. Sometimes, I start to like him again. It's an on/off again crush. He's going to be a freshman in college and I'm going to be a freshman this year so it's kinda of hard. I want to tell him how I have felt, but now.. he's gotten a girlfriend. Someone I would never have imagined to see him with. And I think I'm jealous. So, my question is, should I tell him all the feelings I have for him, or just give up. What should I do? IMMIEDIATE HELP.
Thanks.
--Confused Girl (link)
|
You could tell him how you feel, but it won't do you much good in terms of results.
The problem, in all honesty, is age. Oh, sure, if someone who is 30 and someone who is 34 date, it's not an issue. But at your age, a different of 4 years means a tremendous difference in intellectual and emotional maturity, because of the rapid changes that occur during puberty. So, although you're attracted to him, and he might be attracted to you, he probably wont be interested in you. And that's a good thing, because anyone his age who is interested in someone your age is bad news.
So, amongst the choices you mentioned, the best one is "just give up." But don't do it in the spirit of defeat; do it knowing that you're avoiding something negative.

I just turned 14 this past week and I`ve already had sex 20 times.. 16 times with my boyfriend now, and 4 times with my ex. I don`t know why I`m so addicted to sex. But I think that it may be because I was molested from the time I was a todler up until this past summer, at the age of 13. I was molested by my step-fater, and step-brother.. They did just about everything to me but have sex with me.. could that possibly be why I wanting sex at such a young age? and should I get help for it? I`m so lost and confused. someone please help me out.
(link)
|
You're correct in that your fascination with sex is connected to your molestation. Just how, though, is something only a psychologist can help you determine. You need to seek help from someone with experience with these things; other teenagers won't be able to help you. Your school guidance counselor is a good starting point, and he/she may be able to recommend other people to talk to. Don't be afraid of discussing things...talking is the first step in getting better.

is soda pop REALLY that bad for you? I'm on a diet and I get sick of water.. I like diet pop! My boyfriend says he will never drink it because its so bad... true? false? (link)
|
Yes, it is true. Not because it can take rust off of nails - that is because of the carbonic acid, the carbonation.
The bad stuff is the sugar. It encourages plaque on the teeth and is extremely fattening.
You know what's worse? Diet soda is just as bad. It has a slightly lower amount of energy (calories) in a different form, but in the end, that doesn't matter. You'll get just as fat drinking diet as with any soda.
It gets worse. It's not just soda that's bad for you, it's any sugary drink of any form. Lemonade, fruit juice (yeah, even 100% fruit juice) is just as bad for you as is soda. There are two drinks I can guarentee won't be unhealthy: Water and 2% milk.
The thing that determines how fattening any food or drink will be is the amount of energy in it, no matter what the form; the more energy your body takes in, the more it can store, and the more it stores, the more fat it uses to do so.
And while I'm at it, one other thing: diet isn't enough. You have to exercise also in order to make your metabolism more efficient, in order not to gain that weight back. Otherwise, you will never be able to cease dieting.

i have been with my boyfriend for 10 months. i love him soooo much. we have fooled around a lot and plan on getting married eventually but were only 16 (im 16, hes almost 16) We are not having sex until we are married. I dont want to fool around anymore, not until we move in together in 2-3 years. But when he feels like fooling arund I always end up wanting to. I dont want to fool around anymore. What do I do? (link)
|
First, tell your boyfriend. A good loving companion will understand and support your feelings.
Second, I found some relevent statistics on the subject of marriage:
"Duration of a marriage is linked to the woman's age at her first marriage; the older a woman is at the first marriage, the longer that marriage is likely to last. For example, 59 percent of marriages of brides under 18 end in separation or divorce within 15 years, compared with 36 percent of those married at age 20 or older."
"First marriages of teenagers disrupt faster than the first marriages of women who were 20 years old and older at the time of marriage. "

how do i get a guy to call me???? (link)
|
Ah, that's the thing about men - they respond to directness, not discreetness. Want him to call you? Tell him to! Really. Just be friendly about it...for example, end a conversation with something like "hey, call me sometime okay?"
