Okay, really stupid question here, but what exactly are dreams? And do you have one every night? Someone told me that you may not always remember the dream you had once you've woken up, but you always have one. Is that true?
Thanks. (link)
|
You have around 12 dreams a night and you might only remember parts of one or two, or nothing at all. Although the only time this applies is if you are getting that deep REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. During that sleep, your brain is the most active.
Dreams are basically your unconcious mind staying active while your body is asleep. In other words, when your body is resting, your brain is still heavily active. It is a way for your mind to play out any anxieties/issues you have in your waking life that you do not attend to while you are conscious.

I have about 4 pairs of jeans that I wear regularly. I have been wanting to buy another, and I was wondering your thoughts on the quality of certain brands. Does a higher price mean higher quality?
The brands that I have are:
Mudd(these recently ripped right in the crotch, so are becoming a purse.)
Old Navy(these were hand-me-downs from my little sister)
Aeropostale(My most comfortable)
Sevens(These are definitely my best, verifying the Quality is higher with higher prices idea)
I was just wondering if you all had other experiences or advice on what type of Jeans I should get next! (link)
|
Sometimes there is a correlation between quality and price, but not often. I have paid over $100 on jeans and they have gotten worn out just as fast as a pair of $15 jeans. It really just depends on what you can afford. I'd say a reasonable price to pay for jeans is in the $40/50 range for everyday wear.
Jeans are going to wear out regardless of how much you paid for them, so try not to get too caught up in searching for high priced/name brand stuff.

hi, so i have a research paper that is due in a few days on school nutrition and obesity, but i have NO clue how to write a research paper and ive tried looking it up on google and nothing has helped me. so basically, i was wondering if anybody had any examples of research papers or something i can look at?..dont worry i wont copy and paste them as my essay..i do my own work, but i just am confused on how to do this!
thanks! (link)

To be as simple as possible, a research paper should have an introduction, a body, and a conclusion.
In the introduction, you will want to introduce your "thesis" or your main arguement. It may be that "School lunches are encouraging obesity among students" or something of the like.
The body should be made up of arguments that support your thesis statement. One paragraph might contain statistics on the amount of students who eat school lunches and the relationship to how many obese students there are. You will have to do the research here to look for some numbers. You could probably just type "school nutrition and obesity" into google and find some articles. Depending on how long the paper has to be, you'll need to find a few points of argument to make the paper.
The conclusion will bring all of the arguements from the body into one paragraph and relate them to the thesis or main argument from the introduction. So for instance, "Since X, Y, and Z have occured, then school lunches are responsible for obesity among students."

ok, so i just started highschool. and my one science class was like so hard. i had no idea what i was doing. so i went in there every day for help during my study hall. and i focused on my science grade. because it was like a d. all of my other classes were fine, i assumed. anyways, i didnt realize, i was failing freaking math. and he never even asked me if i understood. im not a shy person. but in his class i was. i never ever talked. and everyone seemed so smart, so i was afraid to ever ask for help. and i mean i know, its my responsiblity to ask for help. but didnt he realize i needed it when i was doing so bad??? so now im like freaking out. because i did plan on going to college. all of my other classes are good. im getting all as and bs, and in science i raised it up to a c. so my grades werent horrible. and i figured in math i was getting a c. so now. im so confused. like i really wanted to go to college. how will i ever get into college now? i mean i dont wanna work at walmart. i wanna have a good job. and i try SO hard. its not fair. what do i do? is there any hope for me? i mean i was like on the verge of tears in study hall.
im so confused. (link)

Just ask for some help, don't be shy about it. You are a freshman in high school, your hopes of going to college aren't ruined just because you are having trouble with math. If it makes you feel any better, I failed Algebra in my first year of college and I still graduated. You will just have to work hard to get that grade up the same way you worked hard to get your science grade up. Go up to your teacher after class and explain to them that you are having problems and you would like some extra help. I doubt they will tell you "no" since it is their job to teach and to help students understand the subject matter. I'm sure you will be able to get that grade up.

i met this boy a couple months ago at a football game. hes been friends with some of my friends. (thats how we met) so we've been talking on the phone a lot and he told me he likes me but i want to get to know him first before i decide if i like him. ohh and he doesnt go to our school. his birthday is coming up and hes having a party at his house. he invited me and i want to go but he didnt really invite any of my friends and i dont know any of his friends. i want to go so i can hang out with him but i think i would feel realyl akward since i dont know anyone. should i go? ahh...i have soo many questions! what should i expect? (people says he makes his moves fast on girls) what should i wear???? and most of all...what should i get him?
thanks soo much in advance.
i rate high (link)
|
Just ask him if it's alright if you bring a friend with you. I'm sure he will be fine with that.
Aside from that if people say he makes his move fast, make sure he actually likes and you like him before you "do" anything with him. If that is his reputation, there's a chance he's got his mind in a different place than yours. So becareful, and don't go unless you can bring a friend with you. You don't want to be a party where you don't know, or more importantly, don't know if you can trust anyone around you.
If you don't know the guy too well just yet, I would maybe get him maybe an iTunes gift card for 10 bucks or something. It's simple and it's something that anyone would like to get and you won't have to guess what kind of music he likes.

i have lots of little dark scars were spots and pimples used to be on my face. How do i make them go away or at least less visible permanently??
i also have a few lines of stretch marks on my hips...how do i make them less visible???
Plz dont suggest any laser treatment or you know, something really expensive. I live in england by the way. London to be precise.
thankz

Cocoa butter helps reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks. There are tons of lotions that contain cocoa butter, but they can be a little pricey. Also, they do not completely get rid of any scars or stretch marks, just fade them. You can never fully get rid of something like that without some sort of medical procedure. Stretch marks can sometimes completely fade on their own in time, but not always.

Whenever I plug in my iPod, there goes the usual tone that the computer makes, but recently, when I plug it in, an Abobe Photoshop window comes up and says in a drop down box "USER'S IPOD". I don't know why it comes up and I just want it to stop coming up. How do I do that? (link)
|
I had something similar happen. I uninstalled and reinstalled my iTunes/iPod and it went away. It's a hassle, but it got the job done.

do supermarkets or pharmacies sell morning after pills or do you have to go to your doctor for that too like you do for birth control pills? (link)
|
If you go to a doctor you have to have an examination in order to get the morning after pill. You also have to pay for the exam and the pill. If you go to a Planned Parenthood you can get them for about $40 without an examination and they are completely confidential. You have 72 hours to use the pill after the incident, so don't freak if you're in need of it after last night or something.

how does someone act when they are hungover? (link)

When someone is hungover all they want to do is lay in bed. Trust me, I've been there...every weekend for the last 10 years or so.

I don't know what to say or do. I graduated college a few months ago, and now my parents are on my back about doing something with my life, as they like to put it. I got in a huge fight with them over this, and I have ZERO support from them.
-what I want: job/internship in magazines to gain experience, and then eventually go to grad school.
-what they want: get a job, and apply to grad school at the same time.
I want to get job experience BEFORE I apply to grad school (journalism), but that is something they absolutely fail to understand. I don't know what to tell them...it's as though every chance they get, they're on my back about this.
I had a terrible day thinking about it, and it always makes me feel like complete crap.
What should I do? (link)
|
Having recently graduated college myself, I can say your parents are probably right. Unless you are getting amazing pay from an internship, you are going to need some SERIOUS help financially for grad school seeing as financial aid decreases significantly for graduate school. You won't get nearly as much for tuition as an undergrad would.
Getting a job will give you experience, the same experience, that an internship would offer and you will also get a salary and benefits. Benefits are key seeing as your parents cover will expire after a certain amount of time after you graduate. Not to mention, internships in such an industry are extremely high demand and chances are you will need some sort of experience to get the internship itself.
I don't know if you plan on living with your parents or if you are living on your own or what the situation is, but chances are you will run into money issues unless you have a full-time job to support yourself. I plan on doing grad school myself, but I am waiting until I am somewhat financially stable before I do. It is the only logical thing I could do for a number of reasons.

What are some good father-daughter songs for weddings? (link)
|
A great song for father and daughter to dance to would be "Satellite" by Dave Matthews Band. It isn't super lovey dovey, but it's a slow, sweet sounding song. I think it is the song my sister and father danced to at her wedding. I could be wrong, but I know I was at a wedding where that song was used.

I don't have a problem with acne but I usually have 2 or 3 stubborn pimples, and I just need a really effective spot treatment. Any recommendations that I could purchase at a store (price doesn't matter) would be appreciated! (link)
|
The ProActiv "Refining Mask" works amazing at spot treatment. I get some stubborn pimples too, and if you put this stuff on them before you go to sleep and leave it there over night, the next morning they will be MUCH less red and smaller. You don't even need to use it with the whole ProActiv line and you can buy 12oz. tubes of them in mall kiosks.

what are some ways to help quicken the recovery time for mono i know theres no cure and that alot of rest is requred but i unfortunatly dont have that option to rest alot i have to work. so is there anything else that anyone knows of that helps quicken it? (link)
|
Absolutely nothing will help speed up the healing process. It is an insanely long and drawn out virus that can take months to fully recover from. Although it seems impossible, the only thing you can do to make it easier on yourself is to indeed get plenty of rest. The virus causes all of your internal organs to become inflamed, so the more you push yourself the longer it will take to recover and for your body to return to normal.

Alright, im 17 years old, and a female. I want to go on the pill...Ive had the same boyfreind for two years and we have had sex. Though we are careful and we use a condom everytime, i would feel better if i was on the pill. however, my mom doesnt think that i should go on the pill, or at least she doesnt want me to until im older. i also want it to help with my period, which is always insane to deal with and its 7 days long every 25 days.
is there any way that i can get birth control without my parents ever knowing? (link)
|
Planned Parenthood can supply birth control, but you have to have a yearly exam with them. I believe it runs about $100 for the exam and you will pay around $30 a month for the pills themselves. At least that is how it is set up in Wisconsin. The only way you can get birth control for free is if you go through an insurance company. In that instance, you will need your parents assistance.
I would suggest going to your mom about birth control using the argument that you want to regulate your period. Tell her you have really bad PMS symptoms or something (true or not) that way she'll feel more obligated to take you to get some BC.

lately my love life has been a complete mess.
ive never been 'single and looking' before in my life... so now i find myself alone in a new city with very few friends and i was wondering if anyone had good ideas on ways to meet quality guys?
(i work at a lingerie shop, so i dont have the chance to meet guys at work, and im taking some sewing/fashion classes... again, no -straight-guys )
Thanks. xo (link)

The last thing you want to do is try the bar scene. That is a dead end, right there.
Try going to libraries, cafes, museums, etc. It sounds corny, but you are likely to meet some decent people in places where people are sober and not expecting to prey on young, drunk girls. Anywhere in public with lots of people, really.

OK...I want to leave my husband. He doesn't beat me or anything like that, we are just in a loveless marriage. I work a part time job right now, only making minimum wage. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the steps I need to take on getting out on my own? Like, where do I find low income housing & things like that. I have 3 children by the way. Thanks for any advice you can give. (link)
|
The answer really depends on how long the marriage has felt "loveless." I am not married myself, but I know enough to realize that in a marriage, you aren't always going to be head over heels in love. There are going to be periods of time where you don't even feel like you love the person. If it has been a few years and you are miserable, then I understand wanting to leave/get a divorce. If it has been a relatively short amount of time, try and stick it out. Things could get better.
As far as steps to get out go, you will definitely need to find something full time rather than a part time job. You have three kids, so you will have to support yourself and either pay child support if your husband has the kids or support the three children yourself. I suggest you find a steady job that pays more and offers more hours before you even think of leaving the home you're in. Save up some money so you're capable of leading a stable life on your own.

is it normal to have cramps to the side of your belly button as a result of your period? cause i thought that was too high for menstrual cramps. but its on my left side so it cant be appendicitis right? thanks so much and i will rate you all for your helpful posts!!! (link)
|
Actually, appendicitis pains are on the left, even though the appendix is on the right side of the body. Mine burst a few years back, so I've gone through it.
Chances are, if the pains are pretty subtle, you do not have appendicitis. Menstrual cramps seem more likely, especially if you're on your period. I get cramps in my back from it, so it's different from person to person. The muscles just cramp up so tight sometimes that it effects the surrounding environment as well.

I have this friend. Well, now we're more than friends because she asked me out today. and i said yes. I really really like this girl, but im afraid things are getting awkward between us, and because of it she'll break up with me. and this is only the first day...
Im not sure if maybe im just being paranoid or something, but the only way we knew each other was because we made fun of one another and joked around. now that we're more than just friends, I don't know what should change and what shouldn't.
the point is, i really like this girl, but i dont really know HOW to be her boyfriend. i dont want us to be ruined. and i dont want us to break up either... thats why this is confusing me.
anyway, here's my main question: is this just the type of thing we will get used to? or is this never going to work out between us? PLEASE help. (link)
|
Be yourself. The more you act awkward around her, the more she will pick up on it and feel awkward her self. Just act the way you did before you became a "couple" and you will be fine. If your friendship was based on humor, then that is what she sees in you and likes about you, so continue on with the jokes and stuff of the like.

my cheeks are slightly pudgey, is there any way i can loose some of that pudge? im definatly not fat, but i have a round face, and my cheeks just look a little chubby. Thanks! (link)
|
If you aren't overweight and your cheeks are still chubby, then they are just chubby. Some people have pudgy cheeks. There are just differences in facial structure, just like there are with body frames/types.

Ok so I have a "friend" who lives like 8 hours away. We've been friends but i just recently moved and now we've been talking. We are like bf/gf but not actually. He and his chick friend[she has a bf] came to my place to visit so we could go to a theme park a few weeks ago and he slept with me and she slept on the couch. And we had sex[i'm 19and he's the second person i've ever had sex with..and i'm his 3rd]. They only stayed a day and then they had to go back home. I expected that we would finally be official but he told me that he was confused and he didn't know if it would work..he's also going into the army in like a month. And then the other day we talked and he still said that he really really likes me alot but he doesn't know how it will work. And so, but he still calls me baby and still acts like we are b/f and g/f but theoretically we are nothing so i'm soooo confused...HELP (link)
|
He is stringing you along in order to be able to sleep with you until he goes into the army. Then once he is gone, he has an out to say "I'm far away, it won't work." and then he is able to wash his hands of it. I would say make a clean break from it before you become anymore emotionally attached than you already are. Guys will say and act in any way necessary to sleep with a girl. Like the other answer said, cynical...but for the most part, true.
