Hello, my name is Sarah and I'm a sophmore in highschool. I've been through many exhausting and depressing trials with friendship and drama and know my fair share of heartbreak. If you have a problem I'll be here to answer so don't be hesitant. :]

advice

I'm 13/f. I just discovered that the person I have had a huge crush on for two years (he's really cool; the smartest kid in the grade and he's really nice and he's my only guy friend) doesn't like me back. I feel awful. He doesn't know. Is there anything I can do? How can I deal with this? Should I try to stop liking him and move on? Please I know that a 13-year-old's problems aren't as important to you as an older person, but still it would be really really nice if someone could help me.

Number one, I've been there.. so just chill out. You and your guy pal can be friends. I know it's hard but.. you think about it after a while, and you figure hey.. Why should he ruin my life? Why should I spend my time thinking about it and torturing myself with a stupid hope that's never coming true. There will be other guys, there will be other people.. You aren't even in highschool yet. I feel for ya though.. My advice is, that you should try and move on, if he doesn't like you back, you're just dragging yourself in the mud. You can't do it on paint. You have to have a paintshop program where you can drain the saturation of color.

ohk so im going to be getting an ipod, it holds 1,000 songs but my question is lets say for example i have 225 songs on my ipod & im getting sick of 5 songs can i delete them so there for i would have 220 songs left?

Yes, on the itunes program you can right click on a song, drag down and despose of it. Also, when importing a cd with some songs you don't like you can click on the blue checked box of the said song or songs to uncheck it, and it knows not to import that song so it won't be on your ipod. :) By the way, you will absolutely LOVE your ipod. haha.

Ok, I have this problem, I am WAY TOO NICE to my family. I give them advice, (after all, I do have an advice coulumn here)I'm supportive of them, and all they do is take advantage of me, then they ditch me. For example, my cousin has a weight issue, and I help her, and even doctors say my advice was good. She agrees, at the doctors office. She totally ignores me outside of it. When I bring it up she's always like "I have better things to do then talk to you" and on the phone I constantly have to call her name because she doesn't listen to me, and that's just 1 example. They ridicule me one minute, ditch me another minute, then ask me for advice like they are my best friend. What do I do? I turned to masturbation and porno as a getaway- masturbating while watching porno, but more masturbation then porno. Worst thing is that I'm a strong Christian, and their semi athiest ways are rubbing off on me.Help me! And don't tell me to talk to them and stuff, because I've done this in a civilized manner 1000 times, and everyone in my family is stubborn because they think I'm lying all the time because I'm the youngest,and I should suck it up and forget what they say. Help me plz, srry that its so long though.

Have you ever thought of other ways to getaway from this? I mean there are positive ways other than masturbation for this kind of thing. Express yourself in different ways, run, draw, listen to music. There is so much you can do to release these feelings. As for your family, if they are ungrateful then you shouldn't keep letting them use you like that. Refrain from giving advice unless you are directly asked. Good luck. Giv'em hell kid.

I know its always better to be yourself ive learned that. The problem is i dont know ho wot find out who I am and what to do when being myself.

Ok, think. Just relax for a second and take a seat.. and think of what you really like. Don't think of what your friends like. What your parents like. What do YOU like. What are YOUR opinions. Just focus your energy on figuring it out. What do YOU like to do. It's hard sometimes to find yourself, and sometimes it takes people years, so don't feel bad. Self discovery is part of growing up, you gotta try out several things before you get it right and find yourself. :) good luck.

So my sister stole from my wallet and was really devious about it (she changed some bills that she gave me, because she owed me, for the bills I had had before she paid me back) I know she is really hard up for money and doesn’t have a job or anything and I can forgive her in time but what really bugs me is when I told my parents they both insulted me and said I was loosing my temper and being a liar. Now I’m furious and think they should have at least listened to my side but they didn’t! I’m pissed with my whole family and don’t know what to do about it!

Hrm. Anger release methods.. *ponderponder* I like to kick things when I get angry, namely pillows into the wall, kick the door, scream cuss.. lose control. Yep yep. Of course, a lot of the time I express my anger in a healthy manner, such as art. Like.. writing lyrics, or drawing some morbid angry picture. People think I'm creepy for it, but whatev, it helps believe me.


Also being a teen, we have these things called hormones that piss us off extra. To drown out these stupid little biotches play your music really really loud. Tis fun.


For your situation, it seems that you need to get it out that "Dude, my sister stole my cash!" You could always eat at her concious for about a week, with names like "clepto.", "swiper no swiping!", and any other creative little things you can think of. Use your brain, this is the fun part of revenge.


Anyway, GOOD LUCK. I'd like to hear more about this, because I happen to have time like that, so drop it by my box if you feel like it. Whatev, no pressure.

Okay well this is a bit of a weird question but ah well.
I can't smile! My normal expression makes me look unhappy, even when I'm not. People always think I'm giving them a dirty look and when I try and smile at them it looks forced and bitchy. I can smile when it comes naturally but if someone asks me to, I can't. It's starting to become a real problem as everyone thinks I'm being unfriendly when I can't help it.
How can I learn to smile?

If you want a genuine smile, think of something that makes you laugh. I have the exact same problem, and if I think of some stupid inside joke my friends and I have I can smile, or at least easier than usual.

Tryouts for my school's volleyball team start the week before school starts. My mom also works a lot and the only week she has off is that same week, so she planned for our family and her cousin and my cousins to all go to my grandparents lake for that week. I'm in 8th grade, and last year I made B team, so its not like volleyball is all I do. I also go to the lake every year, so its not like I'll never be there again... and if I miss tryouts I can't play at all. Should I go on vacation or stay and play volleyball????

If you really want to make the team as your parents for arrangements to skip out this year and maybe stay with a friend that's in volleyball to. It all depends on your priorities. A single family trip, or a season of volleyball. Your choice kid.

my friends are always getting the guys. ill plainly say that. i am pretty, or at least everyone thinks i am, and i personally think i have a great personality. i flirt, i try to act interested but the guys always seem to go for my freinds, even if it seems they are flirting with me, or like me. i mean, i have so much more to offer than my freinds. im going to a an art school for painting, i play the guitar, the piano and the drums, i am the life of the party, i paint, i write, i compose. but it seems that my freinds, who personaly i think are...i hate to use the word...posers(even though we arnt goth or anything, they just think they know art when they, exuse my french, dont know shit). but sometimes i wonder, am i just to mature, should i wait to find a guy, or for someone to find me? i just feel that people will give me a second look, but not want to waste their time or energy on a third. im really sorry if this question had no point. and im sorry for wasting you tome reading it. but can anyone help me get out of this shadow?

You write? Well for one, you have capitalization errors out the wazzoo. And you may think you're some great incredible person but it's most likely a turn off if you are arrogant about yourself and think yourself better than everyone else. It's good to have confidence but sometimes over confidence is a real turn-off.

Number one. You do not know everything, you're friends are not posers, because the term "poser" is not real, unless someone is trying to be popular, or something they aren't, or something like that. So who are you to judge? I mean, you have stated that they get all the guys. So think about it. What are they doing, that you aren't?

Number two. Play it DOWN a notch, guys aren't everything, I don't know how old you are, but seriously.. girls need to figure out that independance is not a bad thing and should be treasured between relationships. You do not need a guy to complete yourself or convince yourself that you are a good person or the right kind of person.

Number three. If you want to show you're mature, try not to flirt yourself around, or throw yourself at guys, or simply make desperate attempts. Guys are sometimes just nice. Give'em a break. I mean girls hope so much that the guy will have some sort of magical romantic relationship with them when maybe the dude just wants a friend. A guy can be friendly and not trying to lead on that he's being OVER-friendly.

You may not like what I have to say, but my advice to you is to wait for the right guy, and not to be jealous of your friends. Who'll be laughing when they have a kid before they're out of highschool and a sleu of STDs? Exaactly.

okay, well ive known this kid nick for about 4 months now, and we like eachother alot. but his best friend john keeps getting in the way, making up these incredibly stupid lies, and trying to get me and nick mad at eachother. i want to be friends with both of them, and sometimes i dont know who to belive. they both sound so sincere, i love nick, and i want john as a friend still... any advice?? please say yes =(

How can you think John is sincere if he keeps making up lies and telling them to both of you? You need to confront John about this, and tell him that you really like Nick and want to be his friend, but you also really like him and would like to keep him as a friend. As well as that, you need to genuinely express that his lying is not a good thing, and that it is tearing your friendships apart. Good Luck. :)

hey is it really bad for your body when u start to eat less? im about 5'5 and i think im like 110-113 lbs and i want to start eating healthier foods and just eating a little less. Its not like im doing a crash diet or anything or turning anerexic. im j/w can that do any damage to my body? oh and also im taking medicine for lyme disease, that wont make it any worse will it?

As long as you keep your food healthy, and eat plenty of protein and get everything your body needs I don't see what's wrong. You shouldn't eat less though, eating healthy doesn't mean less, you can still eat just as much as you would when you weren't eating healthy.

Okay I met an older guy a couple of weeks ago when I was out with friends. We exchanged numbers and he tried calling once... but now that I am changing phones and don't currently have one we don't talk as often. There are a few things he hasn't been telling me.. like court dates and why he still has his old number from a different state..and wants me to bring new friends. Should I plan to meet him or forget about him?

He sounds sort of iffy.. I mean, you don't see this guy as a future boyfriend, or husband or something special. He sounds sort of creepy to me. If I were you I wouldn't meet him or anything, don't answer his calls.. He doesn't know where you live does he? Anyway. If he's asking for more friends, or has been to court for something, it's not a good sign. And if he's moved from a different state.. also not a good sign. Just to be on the safe side I'd stay away from him.

my parents dont approve of my friends and are going to great lenghts to keep them away from me. but my parents have never met any of my friends and dont really no anything about them, they only judged them by their appearance. so now i am afraid that we will begin to driff apart and i guess not be friends anymore, b/c i havent seen any of them since school ended & im not going to the same school next year b/c of boundries and i just dont want to forget about all of my friends and just move on.

As hard as it is, your parents are trying to do what's best for you, or what at least they think is best. People do that to me all the time, but do they ever stop to figure out that I make good grades in advanced classes, that I play on a select soccer team, that I'm an artist.. maybe a sort of decent one at that? If your parents just MET your friends, maybe they'd be different. You just have to set something up for something of that accord to happen. Because it's not fair to judge on appearance, that's not what the person IS.. I mean, would your parents want other people to judge them? Even though you are going to a different school, you can still hang out with friends. I have soccer friends that don't go to my school but we still hang out. But to sum it up, you have to get your parents to meet your friends, if you can't beat um join um. Try and follow their wishes and get your friends to tell them good things about themselves that will make your parents trust them. Just bring them to your house for a little while and let them talk, I'm sure your parents will be fine after that and if they aren't, please drop another message by. Best of luck.

You should have local music stores in your area, if you don't, go to a barnes and nobles and they probably have guitar books with notes and such. You could always try ebay as well *shrug*

I've been twice, and basically it's just a music festival. Infact, about half of the time was spent listening to local music, and buying t-shirts and stuff. But be sure to wear something really light if it's hot, mosh pits can get so suffocating if your hot because there's practically no air.

ANnnnnd.. you can buy tickets at ticketmaster.com, that's where I got mine.
