The other day I was at the mall with my friend and we saw this beautiful formal for only 25 dollars, if you can believe it. It was sleeveless and backless, but when the back is laced up it really doesn't show much skin. I have a few standards of dress that I refuse to bend, so I bought a shawl with the dress to cover my shoulders (it's kinda see-through, but it covers up the skin). I showed the dress to my parents and my mom hates it but my dad thinks it's ok (backwards, I know). How can I convince my mom that it doesn't matter what she thinks about the dress because I bought it and I'm the one who's going to be wearing it. btw, I'm 17
Maybe your mom wanted to help you pick out the dress and was just disapointed that you did it without her, if that is the case maybe you could ask for her oppinion on shoes or your hair. Did you ask your mother why she doesn't like the dress? Does she know that you bought the shawl to cover your shoulders? Just explain to your mom that it is your prom, and that you bought the dress yourself, and you are going to wear it.

It's okay that you don't know what you want to do. I'm 16 and I just only recently realized that I was interested in journalism. Your first year you just take basic classes such as english and math anyway. Just think about what your hobbies and intrests are and go from there. Or what classes do you really enjoy in high school?

^That is the most helpful out of all the sites I've been to. That is the site you use to register for the SAT. They have tons of information on how to pick a college, apply to colleges, and how to pay for college. They have a lot of info on different majors and careers.
You could always try to talk to your guidance counsler, I don't know how helpful yours is, but mine kinda stinks so I basically have used the above website to answer all my questions about college.

You need a prescription for birth control pills. You can get one from your doctor or at Planned parenthood. You can buy condoms at any drugstore. It would be a smart idea to use both in case the condom breaks.

Sometimes girls bleed after the first time they have sex, (thats what it means when someone pops your cherry...) but there is really no way for him to know unless you tell him. Why does it matter if you are a virgin? I think you should tell him the truth, so you don't get caught lying about it later. He probably won't care that you are a virgin, just that you lied to him.

if there's any mega health freaks out there, do you know if its good for you if you drink a bottle of vitamin water (multi-v) a day? or can you get sick from it from having too many vitamins?
i've been thinking about it lately and its confusing me.
Those drinks are not healthy for you at all. They have tons of sugars in them and are basically the same as gatorade. So unless you are doing some serious exercising you don't need to drink one everyday. You are better off taking a mulit-vitamin daily.

The other night me and my friends did a weejee board (not sure how spelt) and it really worked. It was sooo scary. We want to do it again, because these are people like my friends dads and uncles and stuff and they just wanna keep talking to them. I wouldn't continue playing with it. They let evil spirts into your house and basically open portals to the other side, and then any spirits, good or bad can come in.

On Friday at this thing my dad is holding where santa comes to our town and we have hot choclate, christmas carols, etc., i might have a face/body painting booth. I have to know two things: Where can I get those face crayons that you use to draw on skin, or something like that. Also, what are some designs that are christmas themed I can draw on kids. I think you can buy face paint at craft stores like AC Moore's and Michael's. As for designs you could do snowflakes, presents, angels, snowmen, & christmas trees.

I'm thinking of doing the SAT in January or March. What I wanted to ask was, if you have done the SAT, what did you find was the best way to prepare for it? What helped you the most? Do you have any advice?

On collegeboard.com they have sample questions. I looked at them to get an idea of what the test questions would be like. I also rented these dvds off of netflix that gave tips on taking them. There isn't really much you can do to prepare other than the basic get a good night sleep, eat breakfast etc.
You only get 1/4 of a point off for a wrong answer so if you can eliminate at least one of the choices on the mulitiple choice questions take a guess.
They don't take any points off for questions left blank.
Don't spend your time actually reading the stories they give you because most of the questions are like "In lines 5-11 the character is feeling what?" and they tell you where to go, then by the time you get to the general questions about the story you have a general idea what the story is about anyway.
In the math sections the questions go from easiest to hardest and they are all worth the same points so don't waste time on the harder ones at the expense of getting the easier ones wrong.
Remember that you can take the test more than once, so if you don't do well the first time you can take it again.

OK, so I practiced inserting my tampon 2-3 times, but every time that I do it, It hurts really bad. And I think if I push it in more, it wont hurt as much, but it hurts to push it in. How do I do it? I started by lying down on my bed and relaxing, but it just HURTS!

It's a little tricky to get the hang of it at first but after a few tries its really easy. If you are a virgin you should probably try using a smaller size at first such as Junior sizes, Lites or Regular size. Then it is helpful to sit on the toliet with your knees apart, and relax. If your not relaxed it makes it harder to insert! so take a few deep breaths. Hold the applicator with your thumb and middle finger with your pointer finger on the bottom of the applicator. Insert the tip of the applicator (try to angle it towards your lower back) all the way,then push the bottom of the applicator with your pointer finger until you hear or feel a click, then remove the applicator. If its in right you wont feel it at all, if it feels weird take it out and try again. Don't worry its normal to have a little trouble.

Maybe she just had something else on her mind, and didn't want to tell you because she knew you were already stressed and upset about your dog. Or maybe she just gets uncomfortable around people when they are upset and doesn't know how to handle the situation. Tell her that you will always be there for eachother, and that if there is something wrong you always want to address the problem, because your relationship means a lot to you. But don't press her to talk if she doesn't want to, that will only make her more upset.

Ok here is another question concerning my mom. She is 80 years old and she gives me contradictory messages. I get very
good buys on purses and jewelry. I buy beautiful jewelry (99 cent for each piece of jewelry), however, this jewelry looks like I
brought it in Nordstrums, Bloomingdales, etc. Everyone tells me that the jewelry I buy looks like they came from expensive
stores. The purses I buy are $1.49 but look like 60 dollar purses and people tell me the purses looks like I purchased them at

color it comes in. However, about three months ago she and I were at the 99 cent store where I buy another style purse and as

month ago she said "Why do you have to buy so much jewelry, buy half" And she also tells me she doesnt have to see what I buy, that she doesnt care. HELP
She probably doesn't care what you buy, but she probably feels that you have way too much jewlery and handbags as it is, even though it is your money and they are cheap, how many purses do you really need. She probably would rather you save the money and then spend it on something of more value, like a car, or paying for school, instead of having mountains of jewelery and purses.

BUT, I've become really good friends with another boy, and I found out over the weekend that he fancies me. I really, really like him, but I think I'm just afraid to get into another relationship. It's normal to be afraid of getting into another relationship if you have been hurt in the past. But you just have to realize that this guy is a different person than your last boyfriend. You never know for sure how a relationship will go, so I say give it a shot and if it works out, great...if not then it wasn't meant to be. But don't let past relationships stand in the way of new ones.

15/f Ok so lke I used to work at Mcdonalds and I got really close to everybody there. I worked there for a year. After about 5 or 6 months I realized that I liked a guy that I worked with. So we started talking a lot and I started flirting with him. I asked him out and he said yes but not until the summer. So I was fine with that. But I Quit before that and we barely talk. My boyfriend is getting the magazine Maxim or whatever. I've seen it but it always has pretty ladies on it. I dont want him looking at like a magazine that contains stuff that no girlfriend would want a boyfriend to look at such as naked people and what not. Cuz that just makes me self consious & fight to be even more prettier so i dont feel so ugly & compared to those girls.

There is nothing in that magazine to be worried about. I felt the exact same way about my boyfriend reading it, but I looked at a few of them and most of the magazine is entertainment articles about movies and new cds, cars, basically guy stuff. Sure the girls on the cover are pretty but the magazine is actually pretty clean, with very very little nudity.

do those from wet to dry strighteners work where you can strighten your hair wet or dry. or do they make your hair frizzy after it dries when you straighten it wet??
They work really well, even if you have really thick hair. It never made my hair frizzy,but the power did fail on it and now I can't get it to work. From what I hear this has been the case with other people too
