Well, I'm 14 and I'm not really sure how to go about this so please bear with me. My mom is thinking about getting an abortion. For awhile she was really sick so we went to the hospital and found out that she's pregnant with twin. I was SHOCKED but happy nonetheless. I already love those two as much as I love my little brother (he's one). I honestly thought my mom was happy too but I guess not because she dropped the bomb today that she was thinking about abortion. Now, my mom has A LOT of medical issues going on, most of which I don't even really know. However I do know that she has fibromyalgia (a type of arthiritis) and she had to have surgery on her stomach more than once :\ Both of her pregnancies (mine and my brother's) were high risk, but we came out pretty healthy (despite our asthma). She's no longer with the man that gave birth to my brother. But she's got me, and the rest of our family for emotional support. So, I guess what I'm trying to ask is: how can I get her to say no to abortion? Thanks :) (link)
|
You should consider for a moment that there may be more risk to your mom than she's letting on. She has medical issues that you know of, but she might not have told you about all of them. She's had two high-risk pregnancies already, which means that this one will be as well - and it's actually much higher risk, because twins indicates a high-risk pregnancy in and of itself. For your mom, the risks would be multiplied.
It's great that you're there to lend emotional support, but that won't help very much if she's putting her life in jeopardy by trying to bring these babies to term. If you really are willing to offer such support, it should be unconditional. Consider for a moment that an abortion might not be what she WANTS to do - it might be what she HAS to do in order to ensure that the two children she already has will continue to have a mother.
By all means, give her emotional support. Tell her that you'll be there for her no matter what she must do. Do not ask for explanations or try to guilt her into seeing the pregnancy through. For all you know, her doctor may have told her that she would have only a one in four chance of surviving it - would you still want her to say "no" to an abortion if you knew that?
A mother's responsibility must be first to the children to whom she has already given birth. That sometimes means she must make some very, very difficult choices. Whatever you do, don't make this one even more difficult for her.

How fat can you get from ice cream... (link)

Ice cream has a lot of calories, both from sugar and, well, fat. Eat a lot of ice cream without burning off those calories, and you will gain weight.

if someone has hooked up a camera in your bedroom do they have to watch it from that household (i live in a house) or could that person watch it from someone elses house? I need to know that way I know where to look for the hookup! (link)
|
Well, technically speaking, you would watch a hidden camera from anywhere. Heck, we've sent cameras to Neptune before.
On a practical level, the only way someone could set up a hidden camera and watch it at a distance is to make use of the internet. It would need to be hooked up to a computer on your end, and while it's easy to hide the camera, hiding the computer is not so easily done. There may also be a way to do it with a smartphone, but you'd have to have someone who was willing to just leave a $300 smartphone in your bedroom and hope you don't spot it, plus it would have to be plugged into a power source so its battery didn't run down in a day or two.
Can it be done? Yes. Is it likely? Not unless you've given the FBI reason to suspect you of something.

i am a 18 yr girl and i love a guy since 4yrs like hell.last month i found tht he is having an affair with another girl since 6months,he begged me alot to continue the relation and also promised me tht he will nt talk to tht girl again,on my insist he changed his number too bt today i caught him again while talking to tht girl.i cant trust him now though he said me tht he loves me and want to marry me .i cant live without him nor i can forgive him .i am frm india (link)

I once had an emotional affair. It came very close to ending my marriage.
I can say honestly that I was in love with my wife while I was engaged in the affair, but I was also infatuated with this other woman. It was a very selfish time for me and I am deeply ashamed of my actions and the fact that at the time, I was able to so easily ignore the wrongfulness of them. My wife and I were able to get through it and move on, but ONLY because two things happened. One was that she was able to forgive me, and the other was that I was able to earn it.
When someone is caught having an affair, they will often promise anything in order to try and set things right again, but those promises can be so easily dismissed when they meet with temptation again. There are three things that will make those promises worth something.
One is that he must understand that you really will leave if he transgresses again; he gets no more chances and he has no right to expect blind trust from you.
Two is that he must have ZERO CONTACT with the woman with whom he had the affair. No phone, no e-mail, no nothing. He must promise to inform you if she tries to contact him. And you must be permitted to check on him and see that he's really doing this. He has no business getting defensive if you ask to check his e-mail or phone; that degree of openness is the price he must pay to win you back. If he will not do that, then you've already lost him.
Three is that he must eventually realize the full wrongfulness of his actions. This realization may not come right away; for me, it took about three months before it really hit me what I had done.
Because it will take him time to understand what he did, and because it will take time for him to earn back your trust, you must postpone your marriage for at least one year. Without trust, your marriage absolutely will not survive. When it comes to a lasting marriage, Trust is even more important than Love. I speak as someone who almost shattered the trust in his own marriage. A marriage can exist without Love; it won't be very enjoyable, but it can happen. A marriage is fatally wounded when the trust is lost, and bringing it back is very difficult indeed.
You must make him prove himself to you. If you pretend that you can just go ahead and believe his promises, marry him anyway, and hope that he's done having affairs, then you may as well be inviting him to do it again. You must DEMAND that he demonstrate trustworthiness, and until he does that to your satisfaction, you must not marry him.
There is one more thing you must do, even though it will be terribly hard. You must tell him that he is free to leave you if that's what he really wants to do. It must be entirely his choice to be with you, marry you, and spend his life with you. If you try to make him stay out of guilt or obligation, you will spend your whole life wondering if you are truly the woman he wants to be with.

I really want to give this guy a blowjob but something is just telling me not to. What should I do? (link)
|
Listen to your instinct. It's there for a reason.
Take a look around this site and see how many girls (and occasional guys) are asking for advice on what to do because they jumped into a sexual relationship without being really ready for it. They had "something telling them not to" as well, but they ignored that voice.
There will always be people who give you advice on things, whether you ask for it (like you just did) or not. But the most important person to take advice from is YOURSELF. Right now, you are telling you not to do this. If I were you, I'd trust you on this one.

Phobias are irrational things, and no amount of logic is going to make it go away. I suspect you are smart enough to know that the needles will not really hurt that much or do you any harm that can't be fixed by a small band-aid, but they make you feel panicked anyway. There are lots of people out there with much less rational fears than that, so the first piece of advice I have is to try not to stress about the fear itself.
You DO need to get these shots. I'm afraid the previous responders who said that you can refuse don't actually know what they're talking about; at the age of 12, you cannot refuse medical treatment if your parents insist that you get it (and you should get these shots - they are important vaccinations against diseases which are far worse than any needle, and some of them will require a lot more shots to treat the diseases if you actually catch it). But there are a few things you can do which will make the experience easier.
First, you can speak with the nurse ahead of time and explain that you have a phobia of needles and that this will be difficult for you. That way, at least they know what to expect. They can also refrain from saying things like, "OK, ready?" or "Here it comes!" which will probably make it worse. Tell them you just want them to do it quickly, quietly, and get it over with as fast as possible. I guarantee you will NOT be their first patient with a dread of needles; it happens all the time.
When the time comes to actually get the shot, focus your mind as intensely as you can on anything besides what's happening. For instance, think about a song you like and imagine that it's playing at an overwhelmingly loud volume, drowning out everything else in the world. Alternately, focus on someone you have a major crush on and... well, I think you know what to do with that one.
Over time, this problem will get better for two reasons. One, you will gain the life-experience to help you deal with these kinds of emotions better than you can now. And two, adults don't have to get as many shots as kids.

Hi so I'm a fifteen year old female and within the past few months or so I've been having really awful nightmares and I think what makes them so awful is that I am bloody convinced they are real. I'll give some examples. I don't know if this happened in real life or on a dream but I had a conversation with my mother about my underpants and i can't for the life of me figure out if it really happened or not. Also in another dream I was indeed trying to figure out if I was dreaming or not so I'd pinch my self to see if it hurt or not but I couldn't tell if it did for not. It was kind of like my mind made me think it hurt just so i wouldn't figure out it was a dream. But the pinching aspect also frightens me for this reason: I've been told I talk in my sleep which makes me think what if I am performing these actions like pinching myself in my sleep and not realizing it? That's scary because sometimes I feel like i am screaming in my sleep. I woke up this morning knowing I was in real life again and pinched myself just because and I was almost convinced I didn't feel anything even though I knew for fact i was awake. Maybe it's because. I feel like my life has been changing and I like that it has because i feel different. But I think deep down I always knew there was something a little wrong with me so could it be a sign of some disorder or something? What do you think? (link)

I would suggest you see a counselor, or if that is impractical, check a book about lucid dreaming out of the library. There are ways in which you can learn to gain a certain degree of control over your dreams, and teach your brain to recognize when it IS a dream and allow you to wake up from it.
Remember that dreams originate within our own minds, and it is therefore possible to generate signs or clues which will tell you when you are dreaming. One way I've heard that it can be done is to pick an easily recognizable object which you wouldn't see in real life - say, a miniature elephant. Over time, you can actually train your own brain to insert this object into your dreams, and when you see it, you will know that you must be dreaming. I don't actually know the technique, but I've heard it can be done.
One very simple thing you can do is to keep a book by your bedside, any book at all, even the phone book will do. Then, when you wake up from a dream and want to test and make sure you're really awake, pick up the book and try to read some of it. Ever notice that you can never read anything when you're dreaming? It's because that part of the brain is shut down during REM sleep. If you can read a paragraph, you're *definitely* awake. It's much more certain than the pinch-test.
I doubt that it is a sign of a disorder. You probably just have very intense visual dreams. That can be a good thing if you can manage to change them into dreams which are more entertaining. And I think that we all have that feeling, deep down, that there's something wrong with us; some people are just better at hiding it.
One other thing - some medications can cause this sort of thing as a side effect, particularly antidepressants. If you're on something like that, then there's your explanation.

I honestly feel like my step brother has hooked up a hidden camera in my room. His friends will come over and they have this name that they call me, and i'm pretty sure it involves what I do in the privacy of my room. I have looked up how to detect a hidden camera but I don't even know where to begin looking. Like the internet says they can be hidden in tvs and vcrs but how the heck are you supposed to open a vcr or tv to find a camera? I want to confront my mom about it but she'll just think im crazy, and she'll ask me why I think theres a hidden camera in my room and I really dont want to explain the meaning behind their joke.. What do I do? How do I know if theres a camera in my room? I mean, the internet also says "look for any red or green dots" well my tv has a red light on it but it came like that and so does my dvd player, and dvr. Please someone help. I am at a loss and I just want to get to the end of this and find out if there really is a camera in my room. Oh and how long does it take to even hook up a hidden camera? (link)
|
Before you go hunting around for hidden cameras, you might want to consider that there's a simpler possibility; your brother and his friends might be spying on you the old-fashioned way, WITHOUT hidden cameras, just by looking in the window or something. If the only evidence you have is the name they call you, which is based on something you do in private, there are two possibilities - they've seen you doing whatever it is, or it's just a coincidence. If it's the first, then they only had to see you doing it ONCE - they may not still be watching.
Hidden cameras do exist, but they tend to be expensive. Your brother would have to be pretty obsessed with you to drop the necessary coin on a truly hidden camera (the kind that parents use to watch the babysitters, for instance). To do it cheaply, he'd have to use a webcam, and those have cables. So look for the wire, not the camera.
But I don't think you'll find it. People have been looking through windows or cracks in the door long before anyone invented the hidden camera, and that's still the way siblings tend to spy on each other. It's quicker, cheaper, easier, and leaves a lot less evidence to be found.
Oh, and don't go searching his room unless you have a lot stronger evidence, or that makes YOU the one spying on HIM - and he won't like it any more than you do.

i am 13 and i love myself, but honestly...HOW CAN I LOOK LIKE A VICTORIA'S SECRET MODEL?
i do crunches and run all the time, i'm very athletic and healthy but i have big hips and muscly thighs. i just want to shape my legs a little differently and tone my stomach more. any ideas/tips? thanks! (link)
|
Lots of makeup, professional studio lighting, and a healthy application of Photoshop.
Nobody looks like Victoria's Secret models. Even the models themselves don't look like that. Try Googling "Models without makeup" to see what they really look like.
One other thing - you're thirteen, which means your body has not yet finished developing. VS models are older than you. I guarantee they've changed a lot since they were your age.

Insofar as helping you to get a loan... probably not. There are plenty of people out there who will gladly help you to dig yourself in deeper, though.
I recommend you check out www.daveramsey.com. He give excellent advice on getting out of debt and managing money.

how can you tell if you have a pink topaz or a pink sapphire?
(link)
|
Sapphire is harder than topaz, a 9 vs. an 8 on the Mohs hardness scale. The problem with testing it that way is that you'd need a known sample an 8-hardness mineral to try and scratch with it, which you probably don't have; minerals harder than 7 tend to be rare gemstones.
Take it to a jeweler. They can examine it closely and measure such properties as its light refraction and such, and make a positive identification.

So my boobs are 32B, which is alright I guess.. but I really want them to be a little bigger. At least a 34B or 34C.
I am all into organic and natural things. Meaning, this isn't a question about plastic surgery or anything like that. I know i'm probably not going to get an answer that will help drastically.. i'm just looking for a little boost.
I'm very athletic and healthy. There's that myth that says women athletes have smaller boobs but I dont know if thats true or not. I have strong biceps. I heard that having strong pectoral muscles can make your boobs bigger.. is that true? is there any kinds of organic or homeopathic medicine or treatments to help?
I'm not looking for a "wonder" bra to make my boobs "look" bigger... i'm looking for them to actually be bigger. I know they probably won't get much bigger, but even if its just a small change, then that would be amazing! Thanks! (link)
|
Since the pectoral muscles are right under the breasts, they can have the effect of pushing them outwards. But it's a subtle effect, and it won't increase your cup size - just your bust measurement.
Regrettably, there just isn't much you can do to enlarge your breasts naturally that doesn't also involve enlarging the rest of you. Well, I guess there is ONE thing you can do: have a baby. That's practically guaranteed to make them grow. But, I'm guessing that's a little more extreme a solution than you probably had in mind. :)

We have an annual Family Reunion coming up and i want to know about magic acts. (link)
|
(1) PRACTICE each trick you want to do in front of a mirror until you can do it ten times in a row perfectly. If you have a video camera you can practice in front of, that's even better; it will let you see exactly what the audience sees. There are few things as embarrassing as flubbing an illusion onstage.
(2) There are usually children at a family reunion. Any professional magician will tell you that children are extremely hard to fool. Most magic tricks are based on misdirected attention and sidestepping expectations. Children simply don't pay attention to what they're "supposed" to, so trying to misdirect them doesn't work as well. And they will have fewer expectations, because they don't have as much experience with life. Finally, they love to "bust" the guy on stage. So, when performing in front of the kids, have a plan in case they see through your tricks and announce it loudly.
(3) Along those lines, it can be fun to perform some obvious trick that the kids WILL see right through, but then use that as a lead-in to a trick which is even more impressive and blows the "explanation" out of the water.
(4) Professional Conjurer James Randi had a great answer prepared for when people asked, "How do you do that?" He would say, "Very well, I hope."

My cat passed away 3 months ago, She was a hefty 14lbs and was heavy when I picked her up. The day she passed away I sat with her through the whole thing then I picked her up and her body was light. I understand that her body was lifeless and she was no longer there but how come she was lighter than usual? (link)
|
Unless you actually weighed the cat, you really can't be sure she was actually lighter. She may have been easier to lift because cats generally stretch and squirm when they're picked up, and she was no longer in any position to do that.
|
What do you do when the child you're babysitting makes threats such as "I'm going to tell my mom what you're doing!" when what you're benefits the kid and their health?
For example, the child would not wipe himself properly after pooping in his pants, so I made him take a bath and wash himself, so that he would not get an infection.
Although, I don't care if he tells his parents how I handled the situation, I feel completely disrespected when I'm treated like the enemy. What would you do? (link)
|
Every time he says he'll tell his parents what you're doing, let him know that you intend to tell them yourself. Then do it. Eventually, he'll come to realize that he's not threatening you with anything.

can i give a sdt to myself if i have never had it before? (link)
|
No. Of course, anyone can catch a disease just by being exposed to the germs which cause it, but STDs are called that for a reason; they are most commonly transmitted via sexual contact, and the viruses/bacteria which cause them do not survive in the open air.
You cannot give yourself syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes, AIDS, or any other STD. There are other ways to catch these diseases besides sexual contact, but it is very rare and none of them could be considered "giving it to yourself".
