It's because wild rats tend to carry diseases and hang around dirty places. It's a natural reaction that, unfortunately, extends to pet rats too.
It's a shame, because pet rats are pretty cool.

Never mind all that 'wait until you're older' stuff. You need some freedom and independece in order to develop into a well rounded adult. Your dad needs to understand this.
What you need is a way to prove to him that if he shows you a bit of trust and allows you a little indipendence, that you are not going to come back home pregnant or with a leg missing.
Try to build up this trust over time. Maybe arrange to go to parties for a rediculously short time (an hour or so) to begin with, and then as your dad sees that you are doing all the right things, try extending this time until you are trusted to be responsible for your own safety.
Just remember to do EXACTLY what you told your dad that you would do in terms of times and places etc, or you'll blow the whole thing!
Obviously, your dad will have to take part in this little scheme, but it's well worth suggesting to him.

If you are refering to the English language, I have never come accross them (and I teach English for a living). Perhaps you are thinking of definite article, which is really just the word 'THE'. Indefinite article is the word 'A'.
Other than that, it could mean two copies of a magazine, newspaper of internet story.
It could also mean two things that are the same.
It all depends on the situation.

Two of my friends have this phone. I don'treally like it myself, but the slidy thing really does have a quality feel. I don't think that you would have any problems.

I have been with my boyfriend for nearly 3 months now. I know, its not a long time at all but he and I are already in love with eachother. We had this connection right off the bat and we just clicked and have been pretty much inseperable ever since then.
The only issue is he is 6 years older than I am. I'm still 16. So that makes him 22 (if you were too lazy to do the math). I'm sure by now you are all thinking that he's in it just for the sex, but really he's not after that. And I'm sure you are all going to say "Well you don't know that" but I do.
And I'm going to say he's not like your typical 22 year old at all, he is totally different. But I'm sure you will say "All girls say that", but trust me, I'm not them. I've "been" with older guys before and I can tell if they are fake or not. I've been around ones that wanted sex and told me that they weren't interested in it. So, I know that he's not in it just for the sex. If he wanted that, he could get it anywhere else, I'm not saying this just because he's my boyfriend - But he's freakin' hot. Trust me, he's got plenty of girls that would be willing to be lined up to get a chance with him.
I have sort of told my parents about him. But not the whole story. My mom knows that he is 22, but not that I am dating him nor that I am in love with him. And my dad knows that I am in love with him, but doesn't know that he is 22 or that I am dating him. I believe he suspects that I am, but doesn't know for a fact. **My parents have never met him***
I was talking to my dad and he said that he would be willing to meet him. He had shared a story with me about when he met my grandmother (my mom's mom) and she didn't like my dad because he's Puerto Rican and he only wanted to get in my mom's pants, take her money then divorce her. But my dad told her otherwise. My dad told me that if he can stick up for what he believes in, then he would have respect for him. And that's true, that is how my dad is but I'm still scared as to how he would react when he finds out he is 22. I know that he (my boyfriend) would tell my dad that he loves me and that his intensions are good, but my dad can be a hypocrite sometimes.
So I guess my question is, how do I tell my parents that he and I are dating?
Should I even tell them that we are or should I make my boyfriend ask my parents their permission to date me?

I'm going to be taking these self-esteem classes soon (against my will) and I was wondering if anyone knew from personal experience, what it was like. Or maybe you know a friend or family member that took them? They just sound so cheesey, and like a complete waste of time and money. I've tried talking my mom out of it but it didn't work. If their going to make me do one thing I dont like (i.e. not putting makeup on) they can just forget about that. =)

I've been friends with a married man for about 3 years and we have never crossed the line. I knew him and his wife before they moved last year. I thought of him as one of my closest friends- he was someone I could always talk to. Well yesterday we got into a big fight on MSN messenger. I told him that I missed him (because I harldy get to see him since he moved) and then he made a comment "I'm a married man". Then I said "I know- just friends". I was upset and told him I didnt think we should talk anymore. He wanted to know why. I told him that his comment " I'm a married man" made it sound like I wanted an affair with him. I assured him I was not like that. I said I would never cheat with a married man because it happend with my mom and dad. I also said I hoped we could still be friends. Well I thought he would have respected me for saying that but instead he coldly responded with "good bye". He gave me no explanation either. I thought this man was my friend- surely a true friend would understand. Now he has completely shut me out. He won't answer my phone calls and I sent two emails saying that he was the best friend I ever had and I hoped we could still be friends. He is not responding. This man has been an important friend in my life for the last 3 years- this just doesnt make sense. Why do think he's being this way? Do you think he really did want an affair with me and now is miffed that he knows he won't be getting any? (link)

The trouble with MSN messenger and the like is that you rely on typed messages (I'm assuming that's what you were doing) and that typed messages are very easily misunderstood when you are using them to hold a conversation. This is especially true when you try to make jokes or communicate complex emotional stuff. You really need to see someones face and hear their voice to get a true feeling for what they are saying (It's why smilies were invented).
You should never argue with people that you care about on MSN, because there is so much scope for them to get the wrong idea about what you are saying.
If I were you, I'd write him and his wife a letter, just asking how they are doing since the move etc. This way he will know that you don't intend keeping anything secret. Keep it friendly and I'll bet he'll be answering that phone again before you know it.

my friend is mad at me because of a misunderstanding. i have tried everything, but no matter what i do she refuses to be my friend. I have told her i was sorry more times than i can count. i was literally in tears before because her friendship means a lot to me. i even told her this. she has blocked me on aim and wont answer her phone because my name shows on the caller id... and she wont talk to me at school. there is no way i can get through to her that it was a misunderstanding. i feel awful and i don't know what to do....please help. Give her some time and she'll probably come round. If she's angry at you right now, pestering her to let it go will only make matters worse.
You haven't said what the misunderstanding was, but as long as you haven't accidently shot both her parents or burned down her house, I think that time should heal this one for you.

When customers come in, take them quietly to one side and whispers things like

"I'd reccomend the salmon, because the trout is absolutely disgusting"
"I'd reccomend the pork. It's terrible, but some reason I've taken an instant dislike to you."
"Try the salad, you lump of lard - for pitty's sake try the salad."
Actually, just being yourself will probably work much better. I've never managed to hold a job like that down for long. Funny old world....

Autistic people tend to like routine, so doing the same thing on a regular basis is often very comforting for them. The problem is that you will inevitably stop going swimming one day, and the further into the future that day is, the harder it will be for you cousin.
Don't just desert them, but try to find other stuff for you all to do together and perhaps make these things less regular than the swimming. That way everybody wins.
Obviously, this is just my opinion, and it could be complete nonsense. After all, I've never met you cousins. It's certainly a convincing argument though! Use it - it's yours.

Okyy. Well,, i better state thhat my handss are shkking unconttraolbly, whichm akes it hard to typpe well, buttt ill tryy my hardest.
Well, today, the doctor said I have strep throat. 2 dayys ago i started feeling siick with a head achhe & stomach problems. I didn't eat after 2:00 ppm that dayy.
The nnext day, I diidnt eat anythinng. It was more head ach and stommach problems.
Yesterdayy, all i at was a cressent roll& a little bit of noodle soupp. My stomach & head still.
Today, I wentt too the doctors office & they siaid ii had strep thhroat. Now, my throat & head & stomach hurtt. All iive had to day wass half a frapp from starbucks.
I've loost 10 lbs so farr, noot onn purpose.
quuestions:
1. Iss this really unhealthy?
2. Am i supoosed to be SUPER coold?

I'd go with the strep throat thing. It's not a big deal in itself, and a few pills should sort you out. It does hurt though!
I'm no doctor, but I would suggest that the other symptoms could weel have been brought on by not eating.
Bit of a catch 22 really.

It shouldn't take a web site like this for you to see that it's not exactly normal, As for what it means, it's hard to say. I think it's safe to say that it doesn't mean, "Hi I'm a nice, well adjusted and friendly guy who loves everyone, has no pending mental health issues and is nice to puppies. Come in and have a cup of tea."

So i just got a new cingular razon phone yesterday and it doesn't have very many exttra qualities on it..For example i can't get any internet at all on it..Does anyone know any way I can get ringtones on it from the internet or get ringtones at all? If you contact your provider, they should be able to activate the whole internet thing for you. That's provided that it's a feature of the phone, of course.
Then the world wide web is your oyster, as they say. Well, they don't, but I think they should.

Ok, I'm a guy, so I've never been to a gynecologist, but I used to know one. They are the same as any medical professional. You don't have to have your mother in the room if you don't want to, and anything that you talk about will be kept confidential.
If she doen't let you ask questions, get get another gynecologist, because that's really part of her job.

i am very perplexed. i attended a christian school since i was kindergarten and i already accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour. but i'm moving to a new school this year, a catholic one. but since i'm not baptized christian,and i was baptized catholic when i was a baby, so i'm technically a catholic.but since i'm not baptized christian, people will never think i'm christian.so people will really think i'm catholic because i was baptized and i have certificate as proof. i need help because i dunno should just go on prtending i'm a catholicwhen i'm really not. i really dunno what to do. sorry if its a bit confusing but pls. help.

Catholocs are christians. It just a sub group of the faith, so if you are a catholic, then you are a christian too. However, being a christian doen't automatically make you a catholic.
I really wouldn't worry about it.
Aren't religions supposed to PROVIDE all the answers, anyway?
